Stocking Filler Ideas for a 9 month Old

LittleChilliBean · 18/11/2022 19:30

I'm looking for stocking filler ideas for a 9 month old. I know she won't remember what she gets but she has two older siblings who will notice!

Useful/cheap is what I'm going for.

OP posts:

We did weaning kit (melamine bowl and plate, plastic cutlery), teething toys, a board book, sippy cup.

mumumumumumm · 18/11/2022 19:34

Bath toys, pull along walking toys, high chair toy, personalised cup or bottle, pocket library board books...

mumumumumumm · 18/11/2022 19:38

Just wanted to share these Christmas bath toys Dunelm sell as I think they are so lovely 😊

Mine will be nearly 12 months old but he's going to have a personalised first Christmas Teddy and he's got a mini baking kit. And from seeing the other lists I might put some cutlery in there too!

All ours had Jingle Bells in their first stocking. Got them from Early Learning Centre, dunno where you would get them now

They're cute.

PronounsBaby · 18/11/2022 20:18

Apart from matching socks with her big sis, she's not really getting anything new...I am going to wrap up some of her smaller toys she has already. I figured she would understand the concept more and be pleased to unwrap something she recognises.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 18/11/2022 20:26

I did my DD a sensory stocking at that age. I put things like a light-up ball, coloured scarves, foil blanket, maracas, glitter wand, rainmaker, squeaky toy, finger puppets, bubbles, favourite snack and a soft toy.

Myleakycauldron · 18/11/2022 21:41

Do you have any old toys in the loft from your older DC (that they have forgotten)? I got away with wrapping a couple of old ones they had all forgotten about!

Sn0tnose · 18/11/2022 22:09

We bought the Dunelm bath toys for a Christmas Eve box and they really are nice. Very festive. And they seem quite tough, so definitely up to being chewed on etc outside of the bath.

We’ve also bought these bookspieces.com/indestructibles/
They did take quite a while to arrive, and they aren’t very thick, but they are very colourful, easy for the baby to hold and turn pages and absolutely have been indestructible so far. They’ve been played with, they’ve gone in the bath, an idiot ‘adult’ has tried to prove he was strong enough to tear them and has failed. I’d definitely recommend.

Sn0tnose · 18/11/2022 22:12

Ooh, and the foil blankets a pp mentioned are fab too. The ones I’ve bought have been £2ish on Etsy and he loves them.

Hi @LittleChilliBean - thanks for posting! I can see you've had some great suggestions already, but also wanted to point you in the direction of our pages for the best stocking fillers and the best toys for babies aged 6-12 months. Both are made up of recommendations from Mumsnet users and are updated regularly to reflect current stock. Hope they're of some use - feel free to let us know if you've any feedback! Xmas Smile

WeirdPookah · 09/12/2022 12:38

I put things like bubble bath, shampoo etc, bulky as well as useful!

Infantino Glowing Jelly Light Bath Toy amzn.eu/d/0yC6WV6

This little octopus was a big hit with my DS around the same age and it's the right size for a stocking. It lights up when you put it in water! It was a big hit with me too tbh.

mam0918 · 09/12/2022 17:57

If you want the lazy option then poundland and grab a few things from the baby section... I did that one year and my baby had one of those comfort blankets with a teddy on, bath crayons, a shark pram toy and bubbles I think.

mam0918 · 09/12/2022 17:57

Oh there might have been a light up ball aswell

NoNamesLeft234678 · 09/12/2022 18:29

Maraca
Baby snacks
Teether
Toothbrush
Socks/tights
Balls
Outfit for the day

Chiccaletta · 11/12/2022 00:31

We had the same scenario.
I wrapped up some various packs of baby biscuits & EK smoothies, everyone thought it was perfect and so considerate of santa to buy her her favourite items!

rangagirl · 11/12/2022 06:56

Take your older 2 shopping to pick presents for the baby!

They will love the responsibly and fun! You will get ideas from them, too.

Obviously you’ll have to veto anything too expensive or too old for her, but you can do that. 😊

Orormno · 11/12/2022 08:11

Sensory balls
Teething toy
shakers
bibs/vests/socks
