What to buy someone who loves cooking?

She already has loads of kitchen gadgets, hates cookery courses and has almost every cook book.

So I’m not sure what I can get her. Any suggestions welcomed.

Does she do anything else?

rumred · 16/11/2022 18:06

A good knife. They're a joy for cooks

LASandOtto · 16/11/2022 18:07

I think a good quality olive oil in a nice bottle is always well received, perhaps look in a deli for one?

Pootles34 · 16/11/2022 18:07

Is there a lovely local deli or butcher you know she likes? A voucher from somewhere like that?

Shmithecat2 · 16/11/2022 18:08

I agree with @rumred, a good knife is always a great gift for a cook! Do you have a budget in mind?

Lulu1919 · 16/11/2022 18:08

Budget ?

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 16/11/2022 18:08

Really good knives.

A personalised chopping board.

Fancy spices.

Number109 · 16/11/2022 18:12

What about one of the spicery legend kits?

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 16/11/2022 18:12

Selection of pretty and unusual spices and condiments, like pink peppercorns, Himalayan pink salt. etc.

TheProvincialLady · 16/11/2022 18:13

I don’t think knives make good presents, sorry. I would hate to get random knives - they are so personal.

If she already has every gadget and cook book then ingredients or something entirely unrelated are the way forward. I agree with the good olive oil suggestion. Truffles, good pasta, vouchers for a decent delicatessen. Those are all things I would like.

Mommabear20 · 16/11/2022 18:15

A variety of spices,
Burger press,
Spice grinder,
Flavoured oils,
A new knife,

JaneJeffer · 16/11/2022 18:20

Dinner

Bookaholic73 · 16/11/2022 18:21

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
The budget is no more than £50.

She already has knives, but I love the idea of some nice spices.

Have a look at www.souschef.co.uk/collections/gifts-under-50

somebodycutmygrass · 16/11/2022 18:24

Malala Dabba

somebodycutmygrass · 16/11/2022 18:36

Masala Dabba lol.
Indian supermarkets sell them quite cheaply. You could buy some of the more unusual spices from too, at a fraction of what you pay for those little jars.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 16/11/2022 19:12

I bought a friend one of these. She loved it.

another vote for the spice kitchen! love the spices

WeirdPookah · 16/11/2022 19:22

Gourmet Spice Company

they make little tubs of spice mixes, a wide range of different kinds, they are really nice and when I got them, they came nicely boxed for gifting.

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 16/11/2022 19:26

A selection of things from Nigella’s list?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2022 20:04

I'd be a bit disappointed to get spices, but delighted with a good bottle of olive oil and/or lovely balsamic vinegar.

Does she cook for guests a lot? Maybe a really lovely serving bowl? Arket have some gorgeous ones.

Phuton · 16/11/2022 20:17

traditionally bad luck to give knives anyway. You can tape a penny to them so they ‘buy’ it off you.

a voucher for Souschef.Co.uk is boring but effective or ask someone what she would like from there.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 16/11/2022 20:29

A voucher for Sous Chef - so many foodie ingredients and she can buy what she fancies. I always get lost down a rabbit hole on their website, I want to buy everything!

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 16/11/2022 21:02

If she is a kind of person who has all the spices available and think they are boring like pp says, I agree very good oils, or vinegars could be more suitable.
Or if she loves baking, expensive natural food coloring like these could be quite inspiring. I would pick blue, pink and green.( but I don't recommend them to someone who has no clue about the value of these.)
