Inspired by the Christmas films thread, I wondered if you can recommend Christmas episodes of TV that are a must watch!

We always watch the Gavin and Stacey Christmas episodes. Been trying to rack my mind thinking of others.
Older DC so can watch most things.

TV always used to be great when we were growing up with Christmas episodes for most dramas and comedy's but its just not like that nowadays is it?!

Brilliant! Thanks everyone! I couldn't think of hardly any but these are just what I was wanting! Hope I can find them somewhere!

Might just be me, but I really enjoy the Christmas Come Dine With Me episodes.

Smith and Jones Christmas Home Video from the 80s, I'm not really a fan of the series but bought an entire DVD box set just to get it. It is available on YouTube I think. I also love the BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas, always watch them on Christmas Eve with a glass of port or a sloe gin after the dc have gone to bed

I always enjoy The Middle Christmas episodes.

It's an American sitcom but the portrayal of family Christmas is actually realistic and not as picture perfect as they tend to be.

Love those too and so does my 12 year old DD. Will start watching these soon.

The 1989 version of The Woman In Black originally broadcast on Christmas Eve 1989

These are some of my favourites (I've left out any non-Christmassy Christmas specials like Only Fools And Horses - Jolly Boy's Outing or Keeping Up Appearances - Sea Fever)

Mr Bean - Merry Christmas, Mr Bean
Vicar Of Dibley - The Christmas Lunch Incident
Not Going Out - The House
Father Ted - A Christmassy Ted
Keeping Up Appearances - The Father Christmas Suit
My Family - Ding Dong Merrily
One Foot In The Grave - Who's Listening
Only Fools And Horses - Christmas Crackers
Benidorm - Christmas Special 2010

Is that My Family one the one where Ben tries to get out of having anything to do with Christmas and it backfires.

Redwineandroses · 14/11/2022 23:12

Yes, the Smith and Jones one is brilliant! I discovered it a few years ago, now have to YouTube it every year.

@NellyTimes it is an annual tradition in our house that when the Christmas tree goes up, prior to decorating it, we hang a single bauble on it and say 'eat your heart out, Trafalgar Square'. We can't not do it now Grin
