Just wondering what you've got/are planning to get for your 2.5-3yo's this year?

So far I've got a Paw Patrol busy book and that's it! I'm a bit stumped for ideas.

Already got all the ride-ons, scooter, balance bike etc.

What are your stocking gifts/gift ideas and for the bigger gifts too?

Thanks so much

My DD was just under 3 last year and got a mixture of Duplo, crafty things and you kitchen accessories.

My nephew was 2.5 last year and we got him Playmobil 123

Adelais · 10/11/2022 10:07

My 2.5 year old is getting a wooden kitchen, toy cash register, duplo set, playmobil set, onesie, blanket, Elsa dress and board books

NameChange30 · 10/11/2022 10:14

DD is 2 and has an older sibling so already has a lot of toys and books, including scooter, toy kitchen etc. I think I'll get the balance bike down from the loft for her for Christmas.

For her second birthday we gave her a Yoto player (as she loved her older sibling's Yoto and we wanted to stop them fighting over it) so I would recommend that if you haven't already got one. She's still young for a lot of the content but loves music and also some of the shorter audiobooks to listen to while looking at the pictures in the actual book. (Gruffalo especially!)

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 10/11/2022 22:59

DD was 2.5 last Christmas and her main present was the Aldi wooden toy supermarket, the wooden trolley and some wooden food. She loves it.

What are they into- what sort of do they enjoy? So my DD loves role play with her supermarket and kitchen, and also loves playing with figures and play sets, so i have got her that sort of stuff this year.

Dc4 is 3 and in his stocking will be:
chocolate Santa or reindeer
vehicles sticker book
Hot Wheels car
Tractor piggy bank/ money box
kaleidoscope
Gruffalo pairs card game
animal for his farm
Main presents will be:
Farm
Combine Harvester
Potato Harvester with mini potatoes
squishmallow (he loves his sisters)
Grandma is getting him one of the wooden train sets from Lidl (the brio type ones)
and a new horn for his bike.
He has 3 older siblings who are close in age so has many hand me down items. He is farm, train and digger obsessed. I found this age tricky with my other Dc as they were just starting to show real interest in different stuff dc4 is the only one I could go mad and buy so much for him as he is very specific.

Prinnny · 13/11/2022 09:06

DD3.5 main gifts are the Disney princess castle and all the dolls, the leap frog icecream cart, hope the rainbow husky, baby Annabelle and pram and crib. Other bits like playdoh, kinetic sand and a bracelet making kit.

Stocking has bath bombs, stickers, a dress for her build a bear, a cuddly pascal and beauty and the beast figures and I’ll put something chocolate in too.

EcoCustard · 13/11/2022 12:58

@Prinnny Dc2 got the ice cream cart for her Christmas when she was 2. Still played with by her occasionally and dc3 & dc4 most days. It was one of our most successful presents.

Prinnny · 13/11/2022 14:32

@EcoCustard ah fab, she still says oooh I hope Santa will fetch me that everytime it’s on the TV so that’s a good sign too 😂

trampoline123 · 13/11/2022 14:39

Bubbles
Book to help with speaking
A John deer tractor you build
A paw patrol sticker book
A wooden jigsaw puzzle
A wooden train track
Cars
A car holder lorry
Colouring pencils

Personalised sign for bedroom door

MarthaMayWhovier · 13/11/2022 14:48

3 year old is getting an expansion pack for his wooden railway, 3 trains and some accessories (bridge and a turntable/junction.) And some Thomas the tank mega Bloks.
I keep getting the twitch when I'm in shops but it's just stuff I think looks cool. He only plays with his trains and building blocks so buying anything else would just be a waste of money.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 13/11/2022 15:13

At this age they really don’t know or care. Things I’ve got

Bath toys - always a big hit
bubbles
themed lunch boxs
peppa backpack
playdough sets
Play kitchen

Ice cream truck a big hit when my youngest was 2, GPs got it her, she’s 5 and still plays with hit.

SparkleShot · 13/11/2022 15:52

Mine was 2.75 last Xmas and the winners were:

  • micro scooter
  • baby stuff (bag, clothes, potty, carrier)
  • playmobil dolls house

Thought the house might be something to save til she was older but she loves it and will play by herself for up to an hour. It's a miracle 😂

Still trying to think of what to get her this year, I feel like she's got most things she needs/wants! Considering magnatiles but we already have Lego and wooden blocks for building.

Merrow · 13/11/2022 16:27

DS was 2.5 last Christmas and his big present was a car parking garage which is still played with! Successful small gift was a slinky (although he did manage to break that...) and some dinosaur figures

xyzzyx · 13/11/2022 16:53

Car garage/ dolls house/ little people range
Cuddly
Pyjamas
Nice outfit
Gloves hat and scarf set
Something that lights up or musical
Bowling set
Fur real pet
Orchard toys game
Toys of Oxford wooden puzzle
Magnetic tiles/ gear set/ flower building set / Lego duplo set
Crayola set
Towel and flannel with character on
Magnetic numbers for the fridge
Easel

OakTreex · 20/11/2022 11:48

So I've taken the suggestions on board (lots of love for ice cream carts!) and got so far:

-Wooden ice cream cart with accessories etc
-Thomas the Tank Engine motorised train track set with a crane
-Some more 3d magnetic tiles (these were a huge birthday hit and this is like an expansion pack with wheel pieces and stuff)
-2x Julia Donaldson books for the collection
-Peppa Pig puzzles
-Paw Patrol busy book

Stocking so far
-mini vehicle toy
-bubbles
-mini mr men book set
-water pen and colouring book

I feel I'm a bit short on stocking stuff so will be going back through all these suggestions!

But I'm going to try and steer away from any more main gifts as surely that's enough?! Always get twitchy though! And realistically can't afford much more anyway!

FWIW I think that's loads, I'm always slightly surprised by just how much people buy for their children at Christmas. We don't have much space in our house and already have so much, plus family give presents as well, so I don't go mad. I do buy them things occasionally through the year, too.

Thanks, it's tough because I'm a single mum and he won't really get much else as I don't really have much family. Maybe one or two other things. So I always feel super guilty that he doesn't have more/more family gifts etc.

But I'm definitely going to stop here, maybe get a couple of bath bits for the stocking and that's it. Think I've spent about £100.
