My parents live abroad so I order them Xmas flower bouquet using Interflora.

Devo1818 · 07/09/2022 14:34

That's a nice idea.

I'm taking dm to see the National Theatre Live performance of The Crucible at her local cinema.

Ahwig · 07/09/2022 14:43

Their most favourite present that I bought them a couple of years ago was a national trust years subscription.

Louise0701 · 07/09/2022 14:44

Theatre tickets for my parents, a voucher for a weekend away somewhere of their choosing for DHs parents.

Devo1818 · 07/09/2022 16:25

Tickets seem popular! Makes sense

Someone posted about these electric usb Gillette. They shared one on Groupon for @£15. I don't know if the one I have screenshotted from Amazon is the same one. You need to buy the rechargeable battery as well.

I put together a hamper of stuff they can’t get from Aldi and M&S.

Cuwins · 07/09/2022 18:29

My mum I have brought turtle dove fingerless gloves and will probably add a photo magnet or something similar.
My dad is impossible to buy for! Either Amazon vouchers or something edible

Fiddledeedeeee · 07/09/2022 19:01

We’re taking DPs to a performance and then for lunch afterwards. We do an outing or experience in December and make a Christmassy weekend of it most years now as they don’t want/ need anything.

mine area really good at giving ideas but a little nearer the time, so no idea yet!

SingaporeSlinky · 07/09/2022 19:27

Theatre tickets usually, as they don’t really need anything.
Sometimes jigsaw puzzle, those miniature perfume gift sets (size is great for holidays).

Mrsfussypants1 · 07/09/2022 19:37

MIL and FIL a dreamland heated throw each and a hamper. We bought them the fenwicks northern delights hamper last year and they loved it. This year I'm borrowing back the hamper and will fill it with locally produced food bits.

DM and ONY fleece hoodie, suede slipper boots, nice chocolate, kindle voucher and white company candles.

With all the recent energy hikes I went with a keep everyone warm theme this year. DM already has heated throws and electric blanket so I was a bit stumped. Hoping to get tickets for DM and i for Fenwicks rooftop cinema when they go on sale and take her fer food before hand too.

I've got mum a fancy suncatcher off etsy and a ticket to come to a show with me and sibling. Not sure she'll want it though, she's CEV and still being very careful so might need a new idea.
There's a necklace I think she'll love but it needs to get cheaper, too dear at the minute.
There's some books I think she'll like.
Hopefully QVC will do a bargain hotel chocolat bundle again as they loved last year's.
Dad normally asks for books. Incredibly expensive textbook type books. I got him some lined crocs in the sale (he likes crocs) but sent them back after mum blew the suprise and dad said he didn't want them.
Can you tell I'm sharing your frustration OP?!

For several years now I've opted for clothes - something I know they'll wear. Usually a nice quality polo/rugby top for my dad, and a big, warm cardi for my mum. Easily postable should it be necessary. I get a 'gift receipt' just in case but so far they've liked and worn everything I've chosen.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/09/2022 20:04

No real idea this year. I noted my mum mentioned sketchers memory foam slippers earlier in the year so maybe them

Cuwins · 07/09/2022 20:15

Having said my dad is impossible the bargain thread just led me to the spicery website. I'm thinking about the kit subscription for him. He does like to experiment a bit in the kitchen and has enjoyed using some curry kits he got before.
One of the most succesful presents we ever got him was a subscription for a box every month (?) with snacks from around the world

Really like the idea of tickets but will need much more research. My parents have quite a small world as mum is blind so they won't go somewhere like the theatre or cinema. They do enjoy eating out though so maybe something along those lines - they do tend to stick to local places though.

ILs are the other end of the spectrum - they already have annual passes for everything. Cinema, NT, HE, Merlin, HRP. Maybe theatre tickets but tricky as MiL is a wheelchair user so it's awkward booking stuff.

Help!!

Oh yes, @Cuwins my dad loves his snack crate so much I haven't had the heart to cancel it yet, and spicery kits were a big hit with them both. There's normally a referral code knocking about.
Also last year a poster recommended somewhere that did online cookery lessons taught by refugees and asylum seekers which sounded good.

Devo1818 · 07/09/2022 20:23

Dreamland throws look great actually - if not a bit pricey. MiL in particular would like it as she has poor blood flow so gets cold.

What about seeing if a theatre will do vouchers so they can book their own?

orangeisthenewpuce · 07/09/2022 20:24

Haven't got a clue what I'm buying anyone. It's September.
