DD had Barbie dress up shoes from Father Christmas - I am against them, but she loves them so much when at friends I gave in. She slipped over a gazliion times and then they broke on Boxing Day.

DS had FisherPrice Little People Garage as main present, we a have loads of other stuff from this range and I thought it would be compatible...NO. The only cars that fit and work with it are the two that came with it, one of which is still too light to make it all the way down the ramp.

DD bought the Barbie Tika elephant with her Woolies vouchers from GM. As it was 1/2 price in the sale I did'nt mind despite the house just being filled with toys from Christmas. Glad she did'nt pay £30 for it though as all it does is whirl it's trunk round and pick up the two dolls it comes with - not even musical . But having said that she, despite my feelings she does love it and plays with is quite a lot.

Sorry if this has already been done, I searched for a simialr thread, but did;nt find one.

There was one last night but I didn't have time to post

Golden coin maker - DD loves it but it is so annoying as you can only make a couple at a time and it takes ages for the chocolate to melt!

yurt1 · 31/12/2007 09:45

Flying helicopter. It's great, ds1 loves it- he can stim over the rotating blades. But it flies for 7 minutes and charges for 40. His head took a beating - or perhaps the wall did - I think his head came out worse (and the helicopter is now 'lost' permanently).

twentypence · 31/12/2007 09:49

Ds got an inflatable jet ski - despite the fact that he can't swim and I can't think of a body of water it would be suitable to use it in.

So thanks for that Grandad.

newnamefornewyearbookwormmum · 31/12/2007 09:56

I can't think of any .

I'm sure something will go wrong or won't work though .

Ineedaholiday · 31/12/2007 10:02

bchic nail centre thing which is supposed to open when you put acode in. hhmmmm. everal batteries later and it def doesnt work. Even if it did its a load of rubbish. dd got it early so had time to takeit back on Monday to Asda but forgot the receipt and they refused to change it cos its an electrical item. ffs its a bit of rubbish battery operated plastic. Found receipt and got money back and had a rant at asda manager about nt being informed it was classed as an electrical product when i bought it etc.

and not broken (yet ) the 4 remote control cars my not 2 yet ds received which all eat batteries and make loud annoying noises aaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh. And he insists on playing with them constantly. Not really rubbish either but just annoying.

dooley1 · 31/12/2007 10:07

well this isn't the toys fault but ds got a scooter (Thomas one). He is 3.9 and complains that he can't ride it, wants me to carry it and on and on it goes
Drives me nuts

dingdongmerrilyonFLIER · 31/12/2007 10:09

ds got the big transformer bumblebee which turns into a camaro, but as expected us parents are a bit disappointed with it, is doesn't seem to do what it says. I'm seriously thinking about returning it.

lilmissmummy · 31/12/2007 10:14

dd got a click start computer thingy from leap pad with no batteries or games so went to tesco, bought said batteries and game. DD played with it for aprox 5 minutes before we realised she was too young for it (3yrs) and didnt have the co ordination or the patience!

dd also got a cassette kareoke machine- again no batteries and no tape! Helpful- only realised it after I got back from tesco grr

glaskham · 31/12/2007 10:29

dd who is 20mths was bought a bratz doll for age 6+, (yes i know indeed!!) with shoes that come off and she nearly choked on one of them later in the day so thats been removed from her toys!!

and ds who is just 3 was bought a drum kit and wont stop banging on it....flippin in-laws bought both presents and opened them for the dc while here so i couldn't not let them play with them....but desperatly seeking a place to hide the drum kit now!!!

glaskham · 31/12/2007 10:31

and dooley we got our little man a thomas scooter for his 3rd birthday on the 21st....daddy had to have a go and show him how to do it and he's fab now!!....so go on, you know you want to have a go!!

kaz33 · 31/12/2007 10:35

Oh glaksham - we got DS2 (4)
a proper drum kit and he/we loves it

glaskham · 31/12/2007 10:44

oh i like the drum kit (used to play the drums as a teen, so know how good they are)....i just dont like the noise as he doesn't know how to play it in moderation or with any tone!! haha!!...so him and dd both spend hours just banging it!!! have had a headache since it was opened!!!

DanJARMouse · 31/12/2007 10:46

elefun... what a pile of shite

lilmissmummy · 31/12/2007 12:00

I love ds scooter he walks it to school in the morning then I ride it back!!!

dp got a drum kit from my mother! grr

SeaShells · 31/12/2007 12:08

I'm quite impressed with all the gifts DC's received this year (maybe something to do with the fact that we didn't see the ex-ILs ).
DD1 however was given a huge 3ft very lifelike doll, which she adores but has continually scared me half to death each time I see it out of the corner of my eye and think it's one of the DD's! It's got a scarey resemblence to chucky

twentypence · 31/12/2007 17:17

Ds has loads of drums, but always bangs them as a beat to a song, because that's what we do in music class.

sophy · 01/01/2008 12:41

To the person who posted about the golden coin maker -- ds got that 2 years ago and still plays with it quite a lot! But we use the microwave to melt the chocolate ... the device that comes in the kit is useless.

peggotty · 01/01/2008 12:47

Bloody Marble Madness from ELC - took about an hour to set up with me crouched on the floor in agony trying to do it at 8 months pregnant, then promptly fell to pieces the second my dd went near it. It has now been hidden behind the sofa in the dining room for the foreseeable future. Pile of crap.

lottiejenkins · 01/01/2008 12:52

SeaShells Love your description of the Chucky Doll, reminds me of the scary ones that Del tried to sell in OF&H!!!

TheIceQueen · 01/01/2008 13:00

Most of the DS's presents have been great.....apart from some rather good looking Walkie Talkies that DS1 was given........which only transmit a message if you're standing less than 1 METER apart!!!!

perpetualworrier · 01/01/2008 13:10

peggotty - ours had that last year and I said exactly the same, but now they're a bit older and will (have to if they want it out) build it themselves, it can occupy them for ages and they're much more careful not to knock it over

The build does get quicker when you've had more practise!!

Charlee · 01/01/2008 13:12

We got ds THIS it was broken when he opened it! really crappily put together. {charlee ponders if crappily is an actual word, and decided probably not!}

babblington · 01/01/2008 13:22

Disney princesses cool bake oven. complete waste of money. It just doesn't work and you only get enough mix with it to make 2 sets of cakes. absolute rubbish. very cross about it actually.

ceebee74 · 01/01/2008 13:22

Musical bubble blowing Thomas - BIL bought it for DS and I honestly thought DS was going to explode in excitement when it started moving and blowing bubbles - he insists on picking it up and carrying it all over the house and subsequently leaving a trail of bubble mix all over the place and it has been transmitting a constant high-pitched whine and the occasional 'toot' even when switched off - the only way to stop it is to take out the batteries

Charlee · 01/01/2008 13:26

CeeBee bubble Thomas was DS's favorite presant! He loves it, it was his special one from FC for taking him medication, although it does take a lot of bubble mixture to fill up!
