dcs eat lunch at 12 then go to bed so am planning to do adult lunch for 1pm with the dcs who can have leftovers at 5pm but dh and pil say its very creuel but i wont get to eat relxed as will have to feed them both and look after guests etc
tell mei am not the only one doing this ?

As I said, mine was never an eating thing - both would happily have eaten a full roast chicken meal from the age of about 10 months.

We also eat with them quite a lot.

But if you have other visitors to deal with, cranky children as well are really grim.

Mine have a reputation in our family for being positively saintlike at family gatherings, but part of that is me knowing their limitations.

They will not remember it at that age. Do what works for you. Meals like that are far more important to you than to them - mine were always miles happier when kept within spitting distance of theri comfort zone.

if it was a young baby or under 18 months maybe not

i would shift the meal /naps to try to ensure my dc's could ALL eat together on this special day

sorry, filtered. If it means you're going to have a much nicer day and feel relaxed, then go for it! I'm fairly sure I did feel this way when ds1 was younger, now that I remember but then I got stressed about everything then! ifyou're happy (old chesnut) then they're happy

OH MY GOD

i always eat with ds(3yrs) and always have
i feel eating should be a sociable experience

and yes sometimes my dinner gets a bit cold but i don't mind

but i'm a strict routine type of mum
