What are you having for dessert on the big day?

Tbh everyone is usually too full! And DC just want Christmas chocolate from their stockings.

So I get a really small Christmas pudding and someone will have a little later with brandy butter, plus this year as have chocoholic sister staying also got a nice chocolate and passion fruit tart from Waitrose.

Later on there will be mince pies, Christmas cake and stollen.

We all hate Christmas pudding. So I have made and frozen a chocolate log, filled with sweetened chestnut puree and cream, and iced with melted Nutella. On the day I sieve a sprinkle of icing sugar “snow” on and pop in a holly sprig from the garden.

Cheese

didireallysaythat · 23/12/2021 09:22

I'm not bothering. I think there's a box of chocolate biscuits under the tree from a relative.. That will work. Noone here likes those chocolate coated Swiss roll things and there's a Xmas pudding from 5 years ago still in the back of the cupboard that noone wanted back then so I've learnt my lesson.

Redwinestillfine · 23/12/2021 09:33

@Babdoc that sounds delicious, are you willing to share the recipe?

DrunkenKoala · 23/12/2021 09:34

Christmas pudding with brandy butter and chocolate pudding for the DC.

UndertheCedartree · 23/12/2021 11:31

We have a break after our dinner and eat it a few hours later!

ShippingNews · 23/12/2021 11:32

Pavlova .

PussGirl · 23/12/2021 13:44

Spiced apple crumble is the festive pudding of choice this year.

I made one the other week with a really buttery topping & lots of dark muscovado sugar & the family requested the same for Christmas dinner.

Singalongsingsong · 23/12/2021 13:45

Justmuddlingalong · 23/12/2021 14:15

We've got shop bought trifle, shop bought apple and blackberry pie and custard or home made fruit cake. But I'd imagine we'll just fall face first into a tub of sweets. Not until hours after dinner though. 😇

youvemademyshitlist · 23/12/2021 14:30

Christmas pudding
Nut and alcohol free christmas pudding (for dh)
Trifle
Gluten free chocolate orange cheese cake (for me)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2021 14:55

I have last years Christmas pudding lurking venomously in the pantry .
It might get out of there on the Big Day

(Sainsbury one good till March next year Xmas Grin )

katplva · 23/12/2021 14:58

Love Christmas desserts! Probably a few hours after the main course, but we have Christmas pudding, jelly and cream, Yule log and banoffee pie.

christmaskittenincoming · 23/12/2021 15:02

OP

I did Janes Patisserie chocolate orange trifle for last Xmas dessert, was fabulous, defo a crowd pleaser and easy to follow.

I tend to do a lot of her recipes.
