I do , but sister doesn’t . Just wondering what others do . I find it makes it more magical them being wrapped as gives more of a surprise and takes longer to explore them all .
What do others do ? 😊

No I don’t wrap stocking gifts

@getsanta

I hate to be a kill joy, but the environmental impact of this wrapping isn't great.
Its pretty tiny in the scheme of things though realistically isn't it. I used less than half a roll of (recycled and recyclable) paper on my kids stocking. Once a year. Compared to all the plastic waste from food packaging which I have no control over, which fills a bin every fortnight, it's really a tiny issue.
UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2021 23:58

No, I've never wrapped. The stocking is the wrapping. It still takes them a long time dipping their hand in and pulling something out. I've never used it as a way to keep them in bed, though as they aren't early risers and I like to watch them open their stockings. They hang them on the fireplace downstairs.

CoffeeRunner · 23/12/2021 00:05

Some of them.

Fiddly things to wrap stay unwrapped.

FortunesFave · 23/12/2021 00:07

I used to and then stopped...I'm thinking to wrap them this year as kids are teens and so have less to open due to expense of their presents!

Their stockings are particularly good this year too so it might be worth it! I've got them a lot of nice things that they'll love and use....beauty stuff and good socks etc.

jackstini · 23/12/2021 00:16

Wrapped
On the run up I just keep chucking them into a bag per child then plonk them all in the stocking on Christmas Eve

Our rule is they can open stocking in their room whenever they wake up, but no going downstairs for main presents without us/until after 7am!

Littlepaws18 · 23/12/2021 00:26

In tissue paper no sellotape so it makes lots of noise!

NoNotMeNoSiree · 23/12/2021 00:43

I still do and mine are now both teenagers Grin

CoedenNadolig · 23/12/2021 00:48

Only the small toy that's in there is wrapped. Stocking has a satsuma, a bar of dairy milk fruit and nut, some pens/pencils/crayons and a small toy like an action figure or a box of hotwheels cars.

Ditto

I never used to wrap as often the items are small and fiddly and really the stocking is the wrapping but I saw a tip on here that was a game changer for me and I now like a PP wrap in paper sweet bags. Bulk buy on Amazon and I have red and white striped ones that remind me of candy canes. Put the present in the bag, roll over the top and one piece of tape. Job done!

Oh my god! Shock

Why didn't I read this post about 9 years ago?!!!

PurplePansy05 · 23/12/2021 00:52

I do.

Sorry Omicrone, but my black dog is much blacker than yours - Why didn't I read this post about 42 years ago, I'm still doing it for 2 adult children this Christmas, last Christmas it was for 4!
Mybalconyiscracking · 23/12/2021 07:33

Absolutely, sat and wrapped 60 gifts last night.

whiteroseredrose · 23/12/2021 07:46

It never occurred to me not to wrap. I think that now DC are 18 and 22 i can probably stop!

Also wish I'd know about the sweet bag trick years ago.

Notdoingthis · 23/12/2021 08:04

No.
Waste of time and paper.

reluctantbrit · 23/12/2021 08:31

I wrap but in our house we don't do extra stocking presents. Her stocking just has small presents in it instead of having them under the tree.

I may add the odd novelty thing in it for a laugh but otherwise it's just normal presents.

SkankingMopoke · 23/12/2021 08:36

A mix. I don't wrap edible stocking items or more generic things like lip balms and bath bombs, where DCs get the same. I do wrap the personal gifts eg this year, a time turner necklace for DD1 and Barbie clothes for DD2.
Like PPs, we also have a separate roll of paper for stocking gifts, which is on its 3rd year with plenty still left, so not a huge waste of resources.

HeyFloof · 23/12/2021 09:15

Some yes, some no. The fluffy toy sticking out the top, the chocolate coins and orange, no. Most other things, yes!

It's part of the fun! The paper crinkling and crackling when you wake up super early on Christmas day, creep out of bed and squeeze it! Being so, so excited for the day ahead! Like another PP, that's a tangible, core memory from my childhood which still brings a smile to my face.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/12/2021 09:16

Yes, Father Christmas paper.

Enko · 23/12/2021 09:17

Yes I wrap

Gooseysgirl · 23/12/2021 09:23

Oh god no, never have done never will... waste of time, paper and effort! Our Santa gifts were never wrapped as kids.

crazyjinglist · 23/12/2021 09:33

No, the stocking is the wrapping! It's not because it's hassle, or because of the environment (I use recyclable paper and it would be a very small amount really). It's just that it's the norm in my family - our stocking stuff was never wrapped.

Certainly didn't make it any less magical! And no, we never just upended the stocking- we rummaged around and pulled things out one by one, as my (now teen) dc still do!
