We are limited this year, I have £60 but I don't want to spend it all on one item. I would love to be able to wrap a few if possible. Please throw your ideas at me :)

What are his interests?

CurbsideProphet · 12/12/2021 17:41

We tend not to spend too much. So far I've got my DH a cosy fleece lined hoodie from the Matalan lounge wear section (£16), two coasters and chopping board from the football team he supports (£4 + £12). If Boots find my order from weeks ago 😬 there will also be a nice set of Champney's for Men toiletries (£8 I think) and a random tool thing that is hammer / screwdriver 2 in 1 (£10 I think).

BertieBotts · 12/12/2021 17:46

Extra large mouse pad customised with family photos

Sonic hoodie from H&M

bravotango · 12/12/2021 17:48

I'm getting mine some nice coffee, a small toolbelt for DIY, a carrot sharpener (bit of a joke gift), a book, some pants for playing football in and some chocs. We do small stocking filler type gifts as usually just buy our own stuff/what we want

Ginius · 12/12/2021 18:53

My husband is impossible to buy for but for his birthday I bought lots of small things and I can thoroughly recommend Journal 29 - about £11 on Amazon, good if he likes cryptic puzzles.

Holothane · 12/12/2021 18:55

He wanted a dressing he just spruced on another vape so a bottle of whiskey that it.

Holothane · 12/12/2021 18:56

Sorry dressing gown🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Stellaris22 · 12/12/2021 18:58

Books that have been on his wish list. He knows I don't earn as much so understands my budget is limited.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 12/12/2021 18:59

I've got him:
Guitar maintenance kit box (to organise his stuff as it's spread across 3 drawers)
A plectrum holder
Fleecy jumper
A tee-shirt (got ds a similar one so they can twin)

He's been really difficult to buy for this year and it's his birthday this week too, so that adds a further complication, all I've got him is a hoodie and ds has got him a lego guitar to build.

hivemindneeded · 12/12/2021 19:01

A new portable radio as he likes listening in the bath/garden/when redecorating etc.
Some Molton Brown bath foam as he loves the smell adn it is way too £££ for everyday
Some seeds for the garden
Some food treats - panettone and spiced nuts in a jar.

Tim Minchin says 'socks, jocks and chocs". Sounds good to me. Grin

A cookbook and a board game he asked for.

Good thread - it’s nice to have one the addresses the need for budgeting which I am sure many of us are feeling at the moment!

I’m quite pleased with what I have managed to get my fella, without spending much:

Charity shop shirt
Second hand paperback copy of a book I know he’d like to read.
Mug with a photo of him and our new puppy on it - I think that cost me £5 to order off eBay.
Bandana I got off eBay for under £2.
Framed print of a poem we love, and a framed old postcard of the place we first kissed - these cost very little as I got the items and just stuck them in Poundland type frames.
A couple of naughty gifts - sex aids - that are as much for me as him really and again we’re fairly cheap off eBay.

Think that’s it. I might also grab a bottle of wine that is nicer than he would usually buy himself, for him to have on Xmas day. (He usually gets very cheap wine, so it’s fairly easy to “treat” him in this way).

Haven’t totalled it all up but I reckon I will still come in at under £50, or thereabouts anyway.

My mom is getting him cinema vouchers and also a DVD of the Bond film (which he wanted to see at the pictures when it was out, but we couldn’t really justify the cost). This is nice of her as it will give us a couple of “date nights” which we can’t easily otherwise afford at the moment…..

jacqelinedaniels · 12/12/2021 19:42

We don’t get much for each other but like to make sure there’s a few things to open. He’s getting a book, some socks and undies, and some chocolate.

MrsBungle · 12/12/2021 19:46

I’ve got dh a coffee bean grinder and 3 types of beans from a local coffee place. Also a holder for his phone on his bike. Might get him a bottle of gin too if I remember!

Mammma91 · 12/12/2021 20:01

I’ve got DP his ‘2021/2022 home football top’ (the new version apparently)
A ‘dad’s stuff’ wooden box from Etsy £15
And a ‘daddy’s cup’ (travel cup) £9
Will probably buy him some socks and cider to match. All in £60 (had a voucher for his top which would have been £60 otherwise) ..

Inextremis · 12/12/2021 20:09

A magnifying glass thing for his keyring 'cos he forgets his glasses and then can't read labels etc.
A Yorkshire Ex-Pat T-shirt
Some air fresheners for the car (his pride and joy)
Small bottle of beard oil
A back scratcher (I love mine!)
A battery powered cow abduction thing, because it's mad and will make him laugh (recommended by another MNer)

Then for his birthday 2 weeks later - a 6 nations rugby top, and a 'Where's Elvis?' book (he shares his birthday with Elvis).

Think that's it.

Ooh thank you for this. I hadn't seen it before but just ordered it for DH. It will be right up his alley!
BertieBotts · 12/12/2021 20:38

One of the best presents he says I ever got him was the self stirring mug that used to be recommended on MN constantly! Actually I might see if I can find another one for next year.

Roominmyhouse · 12/12/2021 20:44

I’ve spent about that on DH. I got him a mountain bike multi tool, a wooden thing of a motorbike track from Etsy, a coaster (bike related) and a box of biltong.

I did order him a Liverpool wrapped bar of dairy milk from sainsburys but they subbed it for an Aston Villa one!

mam0918 · 12/12/2021 20:46

I feel like I got nothing really this year, I got him tickets to a concert that already happened (he got the gift early) so now the pile looks tiny to me.

he's got trainers, 2x t-shirts, a book, a DVD, a power bank and a spice rack thing but it feels like nothing but I'm struggling to think of decent/impressive 'cheap' things lol.

That sounds like quite a lot to me! Why does he need a big pile? If you can’t think of anything good to get then just stop!
OnlyHereForTheClothes · 12/12/2021 20:50

Food
Drink
A magnetic darts board (so we can play without damaging the walls)
