My dad wants to buy my niece a gift up to £75. Her parents won't give any suggestions as they want money which my dad doesn't want to give. He's asking me for suggestions and i don't have a clue.
Ive got her a toni character, lol pencil case and colouring book and a colour change barbie

Any suggestions would be great

Thanks

It's a magic mixies cauldron pet

ISeeTheLight · 11/12/2021 20:41

DD at that age loved:

  • toy kitchen & paraphernalia (still does, now aged 8 - it's a big one from costco)
  • doll baby Annabell, toy pram, doll clothes etc
  • Teddies / cuddly toys
  • books

He could one or a combination of the above with that budget.

FurReal B9071 FRR ROARIN TYLER THE PLAYFUL TIGER, Orange, White, Black, L www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N39LX3X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_T0VC83F3NEV58NJG0ZCS?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

So much money for what it is, but my dad has bought this for my DD4 and I know she’s going to absolutely love it.

Tabbacus · 11/12/2021 20:45

They might be asking for money as they don't have space for more toys? I'd say a nice jewellery box that she can keep, the ones that play music when you open it now that she's old enough to probably not break it. I have one from when I was similar age and loved it then and still love it and then some craft bits?

Dolls house

Driposaurus · 11/12/2021 20:48

If it’s a space thing, a book subscription? Various independent bookstores do them.

Gingerkittykat · 11/12/2021 20:57

I would tell your dad to get a token gift and save £65 for her but that's because I think the parents are being selfish by not giving any gift ideas.

Can he take her for a day out to a Christmas film and something to eat?

Ragwort · 11/12/2021 21:04

Most DC are overwhelmed with presents ... put the money into savings for her. A four year old really doesn't need a £75 gift from a great uncle.

mummyof2boys30 · 11/12/2021 21:09

It's from her granda. I will probably suggest something small. It's not space issue as they have a new build house with a playroom. He definitely wouldn't be up for taking her out on his own for the day. I might suggest £50 cash and then something around £25 for gift.

Anything Barbie or polly pocket related.

My 4yo has picked this out of the Smyths catalog for her DGPs to get her

A mini Yoto Player could be good. With a few book cards. I just got mine delivered for my 5 year old. I have a referral discount code too (I used one from mumsnet to get mine!):

I like the music box idea, plus some into a premium bond/savings

GotToGoBye · 11/12/2021 21:37

Dolls house, toy kitchen or a balance bike

GotToGoBye · 11/12/2021 21:38

Also second the yoto!

Comedycook · 11/12/2021 21:38

I'd look at the Our Generation stuff...

Pickles89 · 11/12/2021 21:45

Playmobil is great because it'll last for the whole of her childhood. Character toys and trends will be grown out of in a year or 2. But maybe compromise, a £25 toy and £50 in her savings account?

Botsicle · 11/12/2021 21:46

Scooter?

Cherry321 · 11/12/2021 22:05

Micro scooter

PinkKecks · 11/12/2021 22:24

Money is more useful to parents than a giant lump of plastic tuut that'll get chucked in a corner of an already full playroom. If he doesn't want to give £70 + a selection box, some suggestions ...
Tickets to a local theme park/zoo/farm?
Magazine subscription to cbeebies type mag?
Subscription to Disney+?
Bike/scooter (& helmet)?
Clothes?

QueenCarrot · 11/12/2021 22:31

Toucan Box subscription or similar (£72 for 6 months)

Shwighty1 · 12/12/2021 07:44

Mud and bloom gift subscription, some clothes, make up sets and a trike would go down well with my 4 year old

Ragwort · 12/12/2021 07:50

Savings are just so much more useful than endless piles of tat ... my DPs saved over the years for my DS, he would still receive a modest gift - book, board game or similar from them but now he is 20 and had enough money to buy a car and is well on his way to having a deposit for his first home.
