My dad wants to buy my niece a gift up to £75. Her parents won't give any suggestions as they want money which my dad doesn't want to give. He's asking me for suggestions and i don't have a clue.
Ive got her a toni character, lol pencil case and colouring book and a colour change barbie

Any suggestions would be great

Thanks

Toucan box subscription? Subscriptions are a gift that keeps giving throughout the year and a great gift if you have a higher budget.

I like the idea of a yoto player or a toucan box subscription. My daughter is 4 and would love either of those, and its not another big plastic thing that someone has to find a space for.

@Ragwort

Savings are just so much more useful than endless piles of tat ... my DPs saved over the years for my DS, he would still receive a modest gift - book, board game or similar from them but now he is 20 and had enough money to buy a car and is well on his way to having a deposit for his first home.
That is great but £75 a year isn't going to go that far towards buying a house...

So much money for what it is, but my dad has bought this for my DD4 and I know she’s going to absolutely love it.

Wow my daughter wanted this a few years ago and think they'd been discontinued could get one for love nor money.

Yoto Player
Whirli subscription
Or £25 gift and £50 cash

Mydogdoesntlisten · 13/12/2021 22:38

I never give cash any more. Don't trust SIL! I think she spends the money on the DC but as a treat from her not me... Very difficult sometimes.

She's a good age to start with Sylvanian Families. He could buy a starter home like this along with a family e.g. some rabbits and even get her a membership to the fan club.

If he gives her parents strict instructions to save the boxes, if it turns out she's not into them but looks after them, they'll be able to sell them for a decent amount in a year or so. If she gets into them, he'll have a go-to gift idea every birthday and Christmas for the next few years!

My DDs definitely got good value from their Sylvanian toys which were played with for over ten years before most of them were boxed back up and sold. The fan club with its quarterly magazine, birthday card and new collectable figure each year was also a hit.

Big hits from grandparents have included;

Barbie aeroplane, pilot and steward.
Monsoon coat.
Barbie food truck.
Sylvianian families.
Voucher for afternoon tea and a new dress.

1g bar of gold.

I'd ask parents if there is something she needs... New winter coat, shoes etc
Its better than more plaster c tat.

I have bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter. I know she will absolutely love it and it is £74.99. -

My DD was into Lego at that age, it's very easy to spend that much on a Lego set. Something from the Juniors range.
Or a playmobil set.
I've given a relative money to buy something (specific, I couldn't post) for the child before. The child saw neither the gift nor the money Angry

She's got a Tonie box (op has got her a Tonie character) so I wouldn't go for a yoto!

UsernameInTheTown · 14/12/2021 06:52

A Smyths voucher or similar? DD7 loves shopping with Grandad with no spending limit (and has never once been grabby or taken the piss).

Cric · 14/12/2021 07:06

I can see a few people have suggested the yoto! I was going to suggested a yoto. We just got one for our 5 year old and he listens with his sister and they love it!!!
