Whole family gifts?

Does anyone have any ideas for gifts for a whole family? Not just a tin of sweets or tub of crackers - I'm thinking something a bit more special?
There are three kids between the ages of 11 and 16 and two adults. Velvitiser with some hot choc maybe? Board games? I always get amazing gift ideas from this forum - help me out! :-)

I like the idea of board games, the snag is that by the time DC are that age the family may well already have a door collection.

Our favourite is Articulate, another hit in recently was the Logo game.

And if you think they'd appreciate it, Pandemic

How about a voucher for a day out?

purpledagger · 23/11/2021 15:13

Just Eat type voucher for a takeaway?

PanettoneSeason · 23/11/2021 15:19

@EewwwDavid Velvetiser could be a hit. Or something fun like a fondue set?
I agree with a PP that they may already have a fair number of board games going by the children’s ages.
Voucher for a day out would always be a hit here. One of those trampoline parks maybe? Or vouchers for the local cinema?

Accentuate. 2 piles of cards , one has a line from a film and the other has a an accent. You have to say the movie line in the accent and the other players have to guess both the film and the accent.
It looks really good, However I bought it in lockdown but never played it as my dd 10 only knows a Scottish accent !🤣

An escape room experience, you can get a voucher for an experience or buy them a virtual one to do at home.

HappySonHappyMum · 23/11/2021 15:24

I've made a family gift to give this year. It has a £15 Netflix voucher, bag of popcorn, tub of Pringles, tub of Hot chocolate, a bag of mini marshmallows, a box of Celebrations, a fleece blanket and a Puzzmatt escape room game thing. I've put it all in a big bag and labelled it as a gift for a family evening in. I hope it will provide a little fun in January when Christmas is over!

gogohm · 23/11/2021 15:25

Board game is a good option, there's a more pg version of cards against humanity I noticed though mine played the adult version at that age Blush (at choir)

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2021 15:27

Might be a bit meh for the kids but I'm buying a family with older teenagers a hotel Chocolat Hamper it can be posted direct job done 🙂

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2021 15:28

Sorry I read 11 and 6 it's 16 !

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 23/11/2021 15:29

What is your budget?

Some lovely personalised movie night hampers on Etsy

rookiemere · 23/11/2021 15:32

Velvetiser sounds like a great idea, and as a family with a teen we'd appreciate an Escape room voucher as it's something we enjoy but is quite pricey.

statetrooperstacey · 23/11/2021 15:39

Depending on budget, Soda stream?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/11/2021 15:52

I was going to suggest this too, I think it's a great idea!

ODFOgrinch · 23/11/2021 16:03

5 people 11-adult?

Voucher for an escape room. It was a great gift when our brood were that age.

BreathingDeep · 23/11/2021 16:34

Depending on your budget, something like a waffle maker (my kids are obsessed) with some waffle mix?

Or a voucher for a local activity like an escape room, bowling, cinema or a meal? Or something like a hot tub or bell tent hire for warmer months?

BreathingDeep · 23/11/2021 16:35

Oh and OP, I LOVE your username!

Sh05 · 23/11/2021 16:39

How about a large jigsaw or one of those 3d model of a British landmark.
My eldest is 18 now but a couple of years ago we had a 1500 piece Jigsaw which everybody joined in making over a two week holiday. We built it on a mat and just left it out until it was complete.
Add a card game, some vouchers for a takeaway night And a large bar of good chocolate

mumto2teenagers · 23/11/2021 16:48

I would go for some kind of experience vouchers.

Hetyanni · 23/11/2021 17:07

I did a hamper which included all of their favourite bits and pieces. Popcorn machine? Movie night hamper? Disney + subscription?

DockOTheBay · 23/11/2021 17:23

This is a great idea!

I also like the idea of a velvetiser with accessories like hot choc, marshmallows, nice mugs etc. Or on the same lines an ice cream Sunday bar with fancy glasses, long spoons, wafers, sauces etc.

Hmm that sounds like a game that could be offensive. Imitating accents. Maybe I’m a spoil sport! 🙈
MazzleDazzle · 23/11/2021 18:06

An indoor s’mores kit with a burner. Naked Marshmallow do amazing ones!

EewwwDavid · 23/11/2021 18:07

So glad I asked! Never thought of escape room! I'm off to Google what's in their area. Also love the idea of a hot choc/waffle bar thing!
