Mammyofasuperbaby how about some little animals? The early learning centre I have no idea if it still exists used to sell small animals that were realistic. DS loved his and when older we made a big papier-mâché zoo for them. We gave them away except the tiger which he still has on his bedroom shelf as an adult. I used to have to check that tigers mouth for food as he used to feed it :)

@FourTeaFallOut

I'm beginning to think the stockings we have must be a lot smaller than the ones here Grin
we have completely average size stockings and they take tonnes to fill.

Everything I bought for the 3 of them (like 60 items) fits in a single standard plastic shopping bag.

BearSoFair · 21/11/2021 11:56

Bit of a struggle this year now they're getting older but I think they're pretty much there now!

DS2 12:

DD 18

I do think some of you must have huge stockings though, I couldn't fit half of some of these lists in ours.

We usually do a small stocking on DS door then Santa leaves the bigger presents in DS sack downstairs. What does everyone else do?

In DS8 small stocking there will be:

Mini can of Coke
Lolly
Pack of pokemon cards
Metal pokemon card
Reversible cat
Astronaut food
Choc coins
Magazine
Jelly beans

Sack:

Pokemon cards trainer box
Large teddy
Switch game
Small remote control car
Pictionary
2 books
Drawing tablet (cheap thing similar to a doodling board, £8)
Marauders Map and wand
And I'm gonna get 1 or 2 other bits

baggies · 22/11/2021 11:34

Wow I don't know how you all afford these stockings when they're still going to Get a sack of presents!
My mum used to use one of my dad's socks and put a satsuma, Lindt coins and a tube of sweets in. I followed the tradition but with a father Xmas knitted sock. I added a pocket money toy to the above. My children are now 33 and 31 and still get the same but with a can of body spray replacing the toy. Last of the big spenders I am!Grin

Everyone will do it differently but DS only gets one present from us. Any extra gifts go in the stocking from Santa.

The stocking I listed (which I personally think have plenty in) has cost a total of £6.15 per child... Their Santa sacks cost £12.03 each.

That's £18.18 per child for both stocking and sack so hardly bank-breaking amounts.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 22/11/2021 11:59

Nothing yet as they get something they ask Santa/me (depending on age) for, and something chocolatey. That's it.

evilharpy · 22/11/2021 12:27

Mini TY toy

You are assuming that parents will do both. When I was a child we had a pillowcase sized sack that had small stocking presents and other presents 'from Father Christmas' all together. Presents from extended family or anything bigger under the tree. DS has a stocking and tree presents. Not both a stocking and sack.
Whitefire · 22/11/2021 22:34

I do both a stocking and a sack but everything goes in there, growing up my Mum used to put presents from family who lived far away in ours stockings with the tale that they had sent them to FC to deliver, this made perfect sense. They were always labelled and we always sent thank yous before half of MN melt at the thought years later she admitted that having 3 or 4 extra presents helped bulk it out a bit more.

So once we have wrapped everything we pick an even number of smaller presents to go in the stockings and everything else is in the sack.

So things like sweets, hair stuff, Lego figures / blind bags, pens. I do need to get my act together though.

Years ago I put a toothbrush and a car in a small dd's (she was possibly coming up 4) The toothbrush was flung to the side with a "why do I want that?" And the car tossed at her younger brother in great objection that it was a boy's toy and therefore she didn't want it.

Cattenberg · 22/11/2021 23:20

So far, DD (3) has:

A bouncy ball
A wooden toy I don’t know the name of (you squeeze two sticks and a gymnast figure in-between does somersaults)
A small puzzle
Metallic crayons
Plasticine
A couple of Schleich animals
A skipping toy (a rope with an ankle loop on one end and a ball on the other, hope it’s not too old for her)
Chocolate coins
A few chocolate lollies, wrapped in fancy foil. I loved these as a young child.

nanbread · 22/11/2021 23:45

I'm really trying not to buy too much plastic tat! Hard to make a stocking and not do that. I'm spending a bloody fortune as well.

So far mine are getting:

Cool wooden toy by Me and My (lovely brand with no plastic packaging)
A bar of Tony's chocolonely
A tin of Pokemon cards
A smaller present from their list worth about £10
A couple of books
A satsuma
Chocolate coins and / or sweets
Craft bits (pens and sketchbook) for older DC possibly a Playmobil figure for younger DC
Fidget toy

Probably spending about £60 each which is crazy 😬 but we don't do really do any paid for Christmas activities
