Lives in a cool part of West London. What do they like nowadays?
(Bought her Brandy Melville last year which went down well).

I would like to get her jewellery, and chokers seem to be a thing?

Any other suggestions please, and brands to look at.

Thanks.

Jewelry is so tricky. It's such a personal thing...a bit like art for the walls. You think something is lovely but the recipient might not.

I'd stick with something you know she's interested in or ask her Mother.

Tulipomania · 16/11/2021 18:31

Anyone else?

If you can, have a stalk of some Facebook photos to get an idea of her style. The current trend is for delicate jewellery but she might like loud bright accessories. I rarely wear jewellery because I never think to buy it but I love the current delicate style and have found a few lovely options on Etsy.

My daughter has been hankering after this Vivienne Westwood pearl choker:
www.viviennewestwood.com/en/women/jewellery/necklaces/mini-bas-relief-choker-silver-tone-6303000602P131P131.html

It’s pricey but they have lots of nice choices that are considerably more reasonable on Etsy.

@Tulipomania

Anyone else?
Lol. Rude! You're meant to say thank you for the idea/comment...not "Anyone else?" like a bloody teacher!
Tulipomania · 18/11/2021 13:05

Apologies FortunesFave but I was actually looking for ideas.

If I want to ask her Mum, obviously I will. Family not on FB.

The only person to provide one so far is Jules0702 - thank you! That gives me a good idea of what to aim for.

Anyone else? Wink

Lol I always find it baffling when people post on your thread missing the whole point of what you asked just to pass opinion or tell you what you should/shouldn't be doing... but then you are somehow the rude one 😂🤷‍♂️

My suggestion for a girl that age would be either the Mac Makeup gift set which is reduced in boots or the moment or the Filtr fake tan gift set from Molly Mae. Both big hits with my nieces at similar ages

Disneyvillain · 18/11/2021 15:02

What are her hobbies/interests? Does she like music, books, sports, art, etc. My 17 year old DD would prefer to choose her own jewellery and makeup so perhaps a couple of smaller gifts and some vouchers?

Tulipomania · 18/11/2021 17:23

Her interests are those of a style conscious teenager living in West London. I suspect she gets most of her clothes from places like Depop, which I can't really do.

Good suggestion on makeup - had no idea Mac was still considered cool - it was about 25 years ago !

Sounds boring BUT my dd said it was the best gift she ever had - a book every month from the NYT best sellers list of teen books to her Kindle. She read such a variety last year - things she would never have pulled up herself. She also used to rush off to finish the monthly book as the new one was coming out - great result.

ouchyoubiteybugger · 18/11/2021 17:33

Records mine is really into vinyls

I'm stealing this idea for my own Christmas gift list. Thank you! Never would have thought to look for something like that myself.

I did give a suggestion though...it was to ask her Mother! Which is the safest bet...your suggestion of fake tan is simply not going to suit all teens....my teen would be Hmm if she received fake tan for Christmas! And the same goes for ANY suggestion. Saying "My teen loves x" is just weird! It doesn't mean THIS teen will. Far better to ask!

shannie · 18/11/2021 22:32

Can i ask about the book idea is it a subscription ?
Gift ideas - restaurant voucher ?

Sweetener12 · 19/11/2021 05:48

Tech stuff like power bank, headphones or smartphone ring light? If she's into making Tiktok content then she'd probably like a simple video editing program like Inshot Pro or Clipify.
Jewelry is tricky, I agree, so maybe a gift card to an accessories store instead? Chokers are definitely a thing but not everybody loves them.
Beauty box subscription probably? Here are some ideas- www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/gift-ideas/g37721687/best-subscription-boxes-for-teens/?slide=3 and this list also has some reviews on the boxes- www.allsubscriptionboxes.co.uk/category/box/kids/teens/
Book subscription service sounds great, too.

Tulipomania · 19/11/2021 13:35

Look, I know my god-daughter well enough to know what won't be suitable, e.g. fake tan or anything heavy-metal related.

But I still appreciate all the suggestions on here, and have a reasonable sense of her personal style hence wanting to check if chokers were actually a thing at the moment with that age group, as I have seen a few around online.

I will probably run any ideas past her mother, but would like to do some homework first. I find it frustrating when I am asked what my DS wants for Xmas - much easier if someone says, do you think they would like this ...?

Checking out beauty boxes now ...

Perhaps someone could kindly tell me what the cool brands are for girl teens this year.

(Like Brandy Melville was last year...)

AmWa02 · 19/11/2021 13:57

I think Jaded London and House of Sunny are quite popular just now.

londonmummy1966 · 19/11/2021 14:24

If you give her make up then you could consider giving her an empty MAC refillable palette and put a voucher inside to buy the individual items to fill it with. I'm doing this for my 17 year old - it means that she will have exactly the colours she wants (and hopefully mean that there are fewer generic palettes sitting in her bedroom with 3 out of 17 shades used up).

LitCrit · 19/11/2021 14:31

That's such a good idea @londonmummy1966, thanks.

londonmummy1966 · 19/11/2021 21:29

@LitCrit - thank you - not the cheapest as the refills are £10 each but I've sold a load of their accumulated stuff on ebay etc so that is paying for the palettes in their stockings..

Mel6714c · 21/11/2021 01:50

Maybe you could get some ideas from this video

Tulipomania · 21/11/2021 14:45

Ha! I lasted 3 minutes into that video ... Grin
