DH has just told me he's bought whopping 24ft tree from the US. We are in the Middle East and have a big double height hall but what on earth will I do with it for the other 11months of the year ?

They generally fold down and fit back in the box then go in the loft. Our 7ft one comes apart into 3 pieces. I'm sure your 24ft one will too.

(There are lots of stealth boast posts on MN today....24ft high Hall, can afford to import from the US, live in ME.....I hope I haven't bothered replying on a troll post.....)

Mumdiva99 · 12/11/2021 10:48

OK....I apologise for doubting the validity....I can see you are a long time user. I have just read threads about JL towels, living abroad etc which all seem a bit Hmm

GoodnightGrandma · 12/11/2021 10:49

Mine is in 3 pieces and we keep it in the original box in the loft.

GoodnightGrandma · 12/11/2021 10:50

Yes, poor Jemima and Tarquin having to use John Lewis towels as they’re so poor 🙄

pickingdaisies · 12/11/2021 10:50

Purpose built tree storage building in the grounds. Vertical or horizontal, up to you. If you go horizontal you can use it as a particle collider while it's empty.

pickingdaisies · 12/11/2021 10:51

Or you can dismantle it and get a special bag for it and shove it in the loft/ garage

Notaroadrunner · 12/11/2021 10:52

It'll surely be in seperate pieces. Ours fitted back into its box for a few years but last year I put it into a duvet cover and it then goes out to the shed. Saying that, ours is only 7". However, you could do similar with a couple of duvet covers if you can't get it back into its original box. I hope you have a sizeable garage to store it in.

DialSquare · 12/11/2021 10:53

I just bought another house to store mine in.

habibihabibi · 12/11/2021 10:53

Not a troll. Grin ...just have a husband with problems with upsizing. Also wondering how on earth I will actually decorate the monstrously . And we don't have a loft

OP posts:
GoodnightGrandma · 12/11/2021 10:56

I’d say it’s DH’s job to decorate the tree he bought.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 12/11/2021 10:57

In the box, up the loft.

SpookyPumpkinPants · 12/11/2021 10:59

Chris gets his (many) arms folded down, his head separated from his feet, but lovingly placed side by side, wrapped in a duvet cover and my best Girl Guide Rope work around the outside to keep him cosy & tidy and has a long nap in the loft.

Not as easy for a 24fter & you don't have a loft.

You also have a DH who ordered if, so that makes it his problem to decorate & store!!

Kitkat151 · 12/11/2021 10:59

7ft tree...comes in 3 parts....store it in loft in original packaging

Pinkywoo · 12/11/2021 11:01

Mine lives under the bed as our loft is full of fluff, I suggest you buy a bigger bed.

pickingdaisies · 12/11/2021 11:04

@Notaroadrunner at 7" you could probably just hide it behind a plant potGrin
OP, in all seriousness you can buy storage bags specific to the tree, and they are well worth it to avoid trying to cram the tree back into the box it came in. There are also videos on YouTube that show you ways of storing this stuff. They are American of course, I always wondered who bought trees that size!

LesLavandes · 12/11/2021 11:08

You will gave to get professionals in to decorate it.

DappyApple · 12/11/2021 11:09

Our 7ft (hooked branches) fit back in the box in loft, but the 7ft (hinged branches) won’t bloody fit back into box. I have tried squishing it back down but doesn’t seem to work so I just squish it as much as I can and drag it up there in the 3 separate sections and lay it down.

But as you haven’t got a loft do you have a garage or outbuildings?

Mumdiva99 · 12/11/2021 11:24

Oh my goodness the length of lights you will need to adorn it.....I think your husband hasn't thought this one through. It definitely needs to be his challenge......you might even need a scaffold tower to get the star on top.....where will you store all the scaffolding during the year!!!

naughtyfurballs · 12/11/2021 11:30

Getting ours back into the original packaging got harder each year, so we got a plastic box like this:

www.argos.co.uk/product/9485547?

However finding one to fit a 24' tree might be a challenge!

Christ I hadn’t even thought of that. I like lots of lights on my tree so have 1200 on 7ft. If had to decorate a 24ft tree id need at least 4000.🤔
starfishmummy · 12/11/2021 11:49

We just stick ours, complete with decorations, in the spare bedroom and fling an old sheet over the top. Then we just get it out the next year, give it a dust and do a quick adjustment of the branches and baubles and it's ready to go!! However it is not 24 feet tall.

tickledtiger · 12/11/2021 11:55

24 ft!? I presume it will go into bits in its massive boxes for the rest of the year.

Mine is 6 foot or something. During the year it stays in its cardboard coffin in the garageGrin

LesLavandes · 12/11/2021 11:58

I think you should get your husband to cancel the order asap and hire one decorated

TasteTheMeatNotTheHeat · 12/11/2021 12:02

Mine is much smaller than yours... But still, I kept the original box it came in so I can fold it back into there. I store it in the linen closet on it's side.

mam0918 · 12/11/2021 12:18

in the box in the cupboard
