DIL to be gift ideas

I'm hoping that some of you can help me think of a nice gift for my 2 x DIL's to be. Each of these women are engaged to my sons & have been around for 4 or 5 years :) & so I dont consider them to be short term guests that I can just get a token gift.

Last year I bought them each a Molton Brown shower gel bauble & a tiny Swarovski Crystal sun catcher thingy (I stressed for weeks looking for "perfect gifts") & Ive since heard that DIL #2 doesnt "do" stuff like that & she gave them away. I dont live in the UK either so it took a bit of time for delivery - my choice entirely I know, but.

Now part of me thinks OK, I gave the gift & after that its hers to do as she wishes - but this year I thought - start early, dont stress & maybe buy something more practical & a houseware sort of thing.
So I thought about getting one of those chiller carrier bags with fold down handles for the boot of the car. It flattens down completely for storage too.

Both of these women are 30 yrs+ & work earning much more than me. But I care for them both very much & wonder if a chiller bag is too much of a Not Christmas sort of gift.
Thanks everyone

Sorry the app is called Giftster

I agree with asking your sons what their partners like, or just buying a gift for both. My favourite MIL gift was a weekend for DH and myself to a lovely spa hotel.

I love molton brown, but since trying to conceive and reading a book about increasing your chances (It starts with an egg) I have removed all fragrance producing things in our home where practical. Not saying your son and DIL are TTC, but if they are considering children, it might be a thought and worth not getting smellies for that reason.

my friends and I in our 30s and 40s like really nice versions of everyday stuff - Neom bath foam, Paul A Young chocolates, pure wool socks, decent bottle of wine.

If asked by people for present ideas I always ask for a lesser-read book they've loved - one that I may not otherwise stumble across. Always feels like a lovely, personal present to receive, and has led to me reading some good stuff that I wouldn't have picked up myself.

Just thought of other categories for me that I like lol - which are craft stuff and pottery/ceramics. It might be a really nice MIL type gift to see if there is a particular fancy set of China/ceramics/pottery she wants to collect and buy something from it every year so it builds up. I love the Sara Miller stuff and always have some of this on my Giftster list! So now have some bowls and mugs and dinner plates and side plates from the 2 sets I am collecting but still working on it lol. Emma Bridgewater does some gorgeous Christmas sets I have my eye on too - one called spruce and one called winter animals (love the penguins and the polar bears!) but trying not to get distracted!

We always write christmas lists and circulate them around the family. This way people get what they want/ need rather than being given gifts which they may not appreciate. I live buying presents and am sooo disappointed that my SILs ask for practical things like- potato sacks, new axe, log makers... Yea, they seriously ask for stuff like that!

Kind of interested in what the above suggestion was....

Do they have tattoos or piercings.
Maybe find out their favourite shop and get a gift voucher for there.
My D's got me a tattoo voucher last year and I was delighted with it.

So here we are nearly a week on from the angst of my Christmas gifts shopping problems to my (hopefully soon) DIL's to be :)
I ended up getting one woman a notebook with her name printed on the front & a lovely pen (the notebook was from an online place called Zazzle) & also a home kit for sour dough bread. Both of which she loved (she works from home a bit, makes loads of lists too :)
The other woman got 2 cushions for her lounge which I made for her, the velvet bird print fabric I bought online from a place called Spoonflower in the US which prints fabric &/or wallpaper to designs of your choice (from their selections on the website then its printed onto different fabric or wallpapers). She also got a big box of GF choccies which also hit the spot.
So it was a win-win all round. Many thanks for all your tips & ideas which I have noted down to check back to for upcoming birthdays etc etc
