Just checked some local options here, they’re around £70pp! I was quite shocked, I offered to take my friend to one but I wasn’t expecting to pay £140 Grin
But I really want to try and I think it will be fun. I’m not very creative or artistic so I’m hoping if mine falls to bits before it’s off the table they might give me a spare made up one?!
Anyone ever done their own and want to show me a photo?
Just to add, I’m not interested in buying the materials and doing it myself at home, I really want to go elsewhere and be given what I need. I don’t begrudge the cost in the slightest, I buy one from the Christmas tree farm every year and pay £30-£40 so in my head I think I was expecting to pay that considering I was actually making it myself Grin the cost is beside the point though, I’ll pay whatever it is, just want to have a look at others’ creations Flowers

I did one two years ago on the Surrey/Hants border for £38 with tea and homemade cake! £70 sounds very expensive unless you’re being given a nice lunch! Even in Surrey…

EerilyDisembodied · 11/10/2021 18:49

Yes, my £35 one was just on the Hants side of the Surrey border, maybe that's why it was cheap Grin

Ha yes! I find you really have to pick and chose in this area
myadhdusername · 11/10/2021 19:42

Yes! Great fun. Take fairly lights for your wreath.

I’d love to do a class, I reckon that in future years, I could make my own, independently, using the techniques
For those who want to dabble in artificial wreaths hobbycraft are currently selling kits for £10 and glue guns are £5 (I think)

@pinkcattydude pleased to hear it’s not just my husband that’s odd about them . I’m sure the Christmas pud one will be fine .

This is mine done at West Green House in Hartley Wintney, if that was one you were looking at (about that price)?

Nice day, nice lunch and refreshments, loads of materials provided - we’re doing it again this year as a nice day out.

Honesty, it’s so easy to make your own and much cheaper. I make all my Christmas wreaths and garlands for the house. I buy the basic artificial garlands and refresh them every year with dried fruits which I dry every year and artificial berries I bought years ago, I add greenery picked from the forest or garden, steep in glycerine and spray with plasticote clear spray. The wreaths are an artificial base with green foliage added that I pick from the woods and dried fruit. It’s really easy to dry fruit like orange slices, lemon slices and full satsumas and limes in the oven. I also add cinnamon sticks and silk poinsettia heads that I bought from amazon with dried fir cones, ribbon, some baubles and fairy lights. Autumn leaves steeped in a glycerin solution of one part glycerin to two parts water last for years then spray with clear plasticote.

I totally agree with CottageOnThe Hill. Wreaths are so easy to make, I do more or less the same, though no glycerine - might try that this year.
Madness to spend lots of money on a course.

TheChosenTwo · 12/10/2021 08:23

@Whitney168 I haven’t looked there but we’ve been fruit picking there a few times!
I know to those suggesting to do it at home that it would be cheaper etc but I want to go somewhere else and be given exactly what I need and to be talked through it step by step! I’m crap at things like this so want the experience which is exactly where the money is going I suppose!
I’m happy to pay it, honestly, I was just surprised at how much it was when I first looked. I haven’t found anything localish that’s anything like £30, but I’m happy with what I’ve booked and looking forward to it now 🎄

I love West Green House (and the fruit farm) but never been there at Christmas, the one I'm going to is at a garden centre but it sold out weeks ago.

I know I could make one at home, I'm crafty and love doing this sort of thing. But it's more fun to get together with a group of friends and make an evening of it which is what we're doing.

NatMoz · 12/10/2021 10:17

I went on a course once and kept all the little decorations and things from the day and now go and collect greenery from the garden park and make one every year!

I'm not very arty at all but people have always commented on my wreaths!

Paperyfish · 12/10/2021 10:22

Ohhhh…I used to teach Christmas floristry classes, including wreath making, at a fancy florists in the west end of London. Was very pricey! Now teach the exact same thing at my local adult Ed college £25 a head! Check out your local adult education provision from the council! I’m south London.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/10/2021 10:45

I am doing one- sold out in minutes at £85pp!! Our other friend had to book the next day.
To be fair it looks amazing...
