If so, what are you putting in it this year? I've asked him for suggestions and he just shrugged and has offered none as usual...got zero ideas atm. I give him lots of ideas for mine haha.

I am this year. I've bought us both some fancy stockings from Etsy and I'm looking forward to it, usually I only do them for the kids.

I'm getting him a wallet ninja, a reusable metal filter for his areopress, a bag of coffee, a can of fancy IPA he likes, a candy cane, socks, chocolates, ordnance survey maps, Turkish delight, miniature bottle of some spirit, not sure what else yet. Maybe some skincare products that he wouldn't usually get for himself and a falconry experience day at the local bird of prey centre.

TeaAndToastx2 · 02/10/2021 23:30

Yes and always have done because stockings are the best :) haven’t started yet this year but last year was fancy food stuff (fortnums coffee, florentines and chocolates), other Christmas chocolates like coins etc from the supermarket plus a carpenters level, bottle lights to go in our favourite empty gin bottle, whisky stones and some flannels because he always complains I keep ours until they are like cardboard. Our stockings are small though so has to be small stuff to fit, same for the children, little stocking presents only.

CanofCant · 02/10/2021 23:33

Oh and some popcorn cobs from Zaramama popcorn, they make good stocking fillers.

BringBackDoves · 02/10/2021 23:34

Yep but we do a £15 limit and look for the stupidest presents. It’s fun. Poundland is a godsend!!

2tired2bewitty · 02/10/2021 23:34

There’s always Xmas boxers in DH’s. Otherwise, as above - food, booze, nice shower gel, small gadget/puzzle thingy etc

Hydrate · 03/10/2021 05:07

Yes. I put in pepperoni sticks, cashews, a mars bar, clementine and an apple. Those are constant, and bigger things like socks, or gloves. Once I put a special edition Monty Python can of spam...which he saved. Usually a music magazine &lotto ticket. One year I only put in a bottle of Scotch. Used to stuff with sweets but he is watching his sugar intake these days. Candy cane, that we never eat, but must have, and a coin in the toe of the stocking.

endlesscraziness · 03/10/2021 05:30

Yes. Mine normally gets toiletries, socks, a book or 2, chocolates, mini bottle of gin or rum. Then some random bits, like a magnetic wristband for screws and nails

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/10/2021 05:42

Last year it had...
Bar of dark chocolate
Dark chocolate orange
Shower gel
Socks
T shirt
Cocktail can
Keyring

And probably some over little bits.

TreaslakeandBack · 03/10/2021 07:21

Yes every year. So far only have a jar of marmalade and some coffee. Need to crack on.

Noeuf · 03/10/2021 07:24

Yes every year. I’ve moved away from silly bits and pieces over the years for all of them. This year so far a guide book to next years holiday; inevitable chocolate orange; will add a couple of things like posh socks.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 03/10/2021 07:40

Me and DH have dispense wiy main presents for each other as our birthdays are both ose to Xmas so we just do stockings now. They tend to have a mix of nice and silly bits in. DH last year has chocolate, Xmas socks, mini gin bottle, candy cane (like a PP, never eaten but MUST be present), some nice coffee and a bottle of his fave aftershave. His (for me) contained similar but instead of the aftershave I have some posh bath stuff and small travel jewellery box which was just enough to hold my rings and a small bracelet (I can't wear my jewellery for a hobby I like so it means I don't have to remember to take it off and can just keep the box in my handbag!)

CallMeRisley · 03/10/2021 07:47

Yes, as PP say- chocolates and sweets, shower gel, razor blades, socks and boxers, set of sharpies (he’s a teacher!), maybe a couple of small personal things like a key ring with photo of him and the DDs.

picklemewalnuts · 03/10/2021 08:03

Ooh I'll come back and read this properly later. I make some chocolate covered nuts- they're nicer than the ones you buy. Some silly socks. Some of his favourite sweets. Soap on a rope.

Previous years he's had: Wallet ninja, money clip, fiddle toys, small framed photo type things for his desk,

TwinsandTrifle · 03/10/2021 08:26

One year I did something fantastic (which sadly set the bar and has never been matched...all courtesy to Mumsnet.

The whole stocking was themed for DIY and car tinkering. A magnetic underbonnet light. Extendable bendable torch thing. Magnetic wristband to hold screws. Some sort of laser measuring gadget. And then obligatory orange/sweets. Went down an absolute storm. If you look at DH stocking threads maybe 2-3 years ago, you'll see that one.

This year, I've gone with....

3m phone charging cable set because he's always on his phone and the little cables aren't long enough.

Silly socks that read on the sole "if you can read this, bring bacon"

A tape measure, that along with cm and inches, has various bizarre heights marked on it too. Eg "average height of pygmy goat"

A white chocolate orange and some festive chocolate Colon caterpillars.

Fortnum's and mason Lobster bottle opener.

None of which are particularly inspired, or go together, but I'm totally stuck this year, and DH never had a stocking before me, and has really taken to it, so I'm following with interest for some inspiration!

Fredthefrog · 03/10/2021 08:53

Where's the tape measure from @TwinsandTrifle ?

StCharlotte · 03/10/2021 09:16

I did last year after I found out he'd never had them as a child. There were a lot of fishing gadgets as I recall.

KatherineofGaunt · 03/10/2021 09:19

A Terry's Chocolate Orange, a pair of socks and a book, usually. We have small stockings in this house!

Ooh where did you get the tape measure from please?

YorkieTheRabbit · 03/10/2021 09:27

Always do him a stocking, so far this year, I’ve bought a set of rubber/silicone bendy cable ties, a laptop cleaning kit, shaving cream, clarins aftershave balm and some jelly belly beans. It was his birthday last month and one of the things I got him was a Native Union charging cable for his iPhone, its 10ft long and has a weighted knot at one end which means it doesn’t slip of the chair arm or side table when he unplugs his phone. He thinks it’s great 😊 but he really likes practical stuff

Songsinthekeyoflife · 03/10/2021 09:31

There's a treasure measure here, not sure if it's the same one www.wickeduncle.co.uk/childrens-presents/3m-of-facts---fun-measuring-tape

Songsinthekeyoflife · 03/10/2021 09:32

tape measure 🤦

billysboy · 03/10/2021 09:34

If you want a professional tape measure nothing beats a Stanley Powerlock 5m , been using them professionally for over 30 years now

when clearing my late dads stuff out found his one thats probably nearer 50 years old

must be a 5 metre one though

Just my two pence

CasparBloomberg · 03/10/2021 09:35

Yep, usually full of treats, socks a book and something random to do.
Last year he got a “teach yourself to play the ruler” kit, with book and tuned ruler?
This years highlight is going to be a teach yourself lockpicking kit.
Sounds random but it’s been a running joke this year that there’s something wrong with his front door key and it sometimes won’t open the door. He forgets to get himself a new key or swap to the spare. So, he might need to use a new skill.

Reallyimeanreally2022 · 03/10/2021 09:35

I do one for me EX husband!

lorisparkle · 03/10/2021 09:44

I love doing stockings - my favourite part of Christmas. I buy random bits through the year when I see them for DH and DS. My mum does mine and I am nearly 50!!
