New artificial Christmas tree

MrsRockAndRoll · 18/09/2021 21:56

Looking for suggestions of a new artificial tree. I love the ones on the Balsam Hill site but the ones I like are too wide. I think we bed no more than 38".

The reason I love the BH ones are they are really bushy and look real plus they have a sale!

Max budget £350 though DH will have a heart attack if I spend that much. I want it to be 6 - 7 foot high and green.

Our current tree is 6 foot but sparse looking I feel. Any suggestions much appreciated

My parents got a narrow/slim one from BH and it’s lovely.

FinallyHere · 18/09/2021 22:12

I'm afraid BH really do set the standard.

They do also have slim trees

Def worth checking the BH slim trees. I have a BH ‘slim’ one although it looks like an ordinary sized width to me. Their regular ones must be huge!

TwinsandTrifle · 18/09/2021 23:08

Balsam Hill pre lit are very hard to beat.

MrsRockAndRoll · 19/09/2021 15:26

Thanks everyone, decided to bite the bullet and order a Balsam Hill Smile

You will not be disappointed with BH! I love mine Smile

They are so beautiful but I can't afford balsam hill however I just looked on christmastreeworld.co.uk and there are one retry ones on there too with good reviews so I may have to get one of these 😊

We're also looking to buy a fake tree this year

I haven't heard of BH trees - are they better than the white company ones?

MrsRockAndRoll · 19/09/2021 16:58

@Dingdong99 yes supposedly they are great. They have a sale on selected trees at the moment so I'm saving some money as hoping a fab tree is an investment. My previous tree was inexpensive and we probably got 10 years out of it so it owed me nothing, but had a lot of gaps so wanted something with more depth

We bought a pencil tree last year (very narrow). We did this so we could social distance. It turned out that Christmas was cancelled.

However, I loved that pencil tree. We didn't have to move any furniture and our room was as big as it ever was.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/09/2021 17:05

I have a very nice one from Christmas Tree World FirstTimeMommy — good quality and lovely and bushy. It has the moulded tips as well.

The only downside is there are so many branches, fluffing it up takes ages!

Pumpkinstace · 19/09/2021 17:07

B&Q do some lovely trees that really do give BH a run for their money.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/09/2021 18:01

We cover our nearly 20 year old fake 7ft slim tree, bought from our local Macro for £35, with so many ornaments you can barely see the tree beneath it has seen much better days 🤣. Cant bring myself to landfill it. 🎄

We have 2 BH trees , my husband was very sceptical at first but even he was converted , well worth the money and definitely better than any I’ve seen in John Lewis / garden centres for an equivalent price , by which I mean BH sale price not full price .

Best artificial tree natural looking tree I've came across amd absolute bargain. It has loads of branches and so full looking. I highly recommend this tree and I'm not easily pleased!

Dingdong99 · 20/09/2021 05:51

I looked up Balsam Hill on trust pilot and they get some really shocking reviews, which puts me off ordering from them

Does anyone have experience of this, good or bad?

UnLunDun · 20/09/2021 07:00

We’re going with ChristmasTreeWorld, realistic shape.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 20/09/2021 07:12

We have had a BH tree for a few years. Absolutely love the thing. The first year is the hardest as the fluffing takes a while as they are so squished into the box. The good news is that the bag they give you is ample big enough to store your tree in and the stand etc.

Your tree should look exactly like the photo on their website when you are done fluffing. I found their video on how to do it really helpful. I will include it here.

Floralnomad · 20/09/2021 10:44

I think a lot of the problems people have with BH is that they get the trees and they don’t look as good as in the photos but that is because it takes a lot of time and fluffing to get them that way . They don’t just come out of the box looking great .

Easternfells · 20/09/2021 10:51

I got a pre lit BH one a couple of years ago and I don’t think it is that brilliant. I saw some much better looking ones in The White Company last year. I think that the best thing about BH is that they do taller trees than most places. I thought getting pre lit would be good, but there is still quite a bit off faffing around to connect the different tree sections anyway.

I’ve ordered one from cox and cox but it’s not arrived yet. If you go with one you can usually get 25% off.

A friend recommended them and says hers is gorgeous and full.

psuedocream3 · 20/09/2021 18:24

I ordered a balsam hill maybe 5 years ago direct from them as they were the best on the market at the time. I was one of the hundreds affected by their stock issues, huge delays in receiving the tree. It actually arrived on Chrostmas Eve, but the poor UPS driver delivering mentioned he had ordered and despite delivering them hadn't received his yet.

The transformer was broken so the lights didn't work, but luckily we had a transformer from another set of lights which solved the problem.

I love the tree, it looks the part and is something special - you do have to spend ages fluffing the branches but they do look good. I also love their decoration packs but I wouldn't order again after the delays last time. I'm sure they've resolved the issues but it was a huge issue that year.

ChristmasPlannier · 22/09/2021 21:34

@psuedocream3 sorry you had a poor experience. My tree arrived in just a few days. However I'm planning to open it up and test it this weekend incase of any issues with it
