Hi I’m thinking of getting my 12 year old son a hoodie for Xmas as well as a few other bits and normally I would do gap anyway was wondering what other brands people would recommend.

Abercrombie & Fitch is good

GameSetMatch · 03/09/2021 17:25

I’ve seen loads of teens in NorthFace clothing, my DN 12 loves her Harry Potter hoodies.

pinkcattydude · 03/09/2021 17:28

Mine looks like Northface has vomited on him, he loves it but I prefer his Hollister stuff, so snuggly

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 03/09/2021 18:28

I second Abercrombie and Fitch.

Turtles4543 · 03/09/2021 18:33

Mine likes Champion

Tanfastic · 03/09/2021 18:37

Nike here or Jack Jones.

everythingbutthesink · 03/09/2021 18:39

Nike, under armour, Adidas

SandlakeRd · 03/09/2021 18:40

My 14 year old and his mates seem to have discovered a brand called hoodrich. I have never heard of it but it is in JD sports!

WeAllHaveWings · 04/09/2021 16:01

Mines likes mainly northface, champion and adidas. But even within those brands he is very fussy on colours and likes only smaller/certain logos.

I would start asking him discreet questions about what he likes (and put him off the scent by saying the prices are ridiculous/you would never pay that), before buying.

MiaAnnabell3 · 04/09/2021 16:03

Nike and Adidas are always safe.

Puma is usually ok.

North Face is very in at the minute.

Mackenzie would cause them to die of shame apparently.

(Work in a secondary school and have many conversations with teen boys about these things Grin)

Noshowwithoutpunch · 04/09/2021 16:04

My 12year old ds likes Adidas and Nike.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 04/09/2021 16:08

If they sell it in JD Sports then I'd take probably a winner with the exception of the very cheapest stuff (Mackenzie?)

The Adidas and Nike sites have frequent sales so keep an eye on those.

Agree with the other poster who mentioned discreetly asking about colour, size of logo, zip or no zip, colour etc

41sunnydays · 04/09/2021 16:25

My son loves Nike and Hoodrich and Money

LegendaryReady · 04/09/2021 17:26

Isn't North Face the county lines brand?

It's certainly what all the kids I know who are involved are wearing.

DS1 avoids it for this reason, but I won't list his favoured brands because he's no style icon Grin

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 04/09/2021 17:45

What does ‘County lines brand’ mean?

LegendaryReady · 04/09/2021 17:51

The brand children exploited by county lines gangs are wearing. At least that's my experience, but I probably don't know many who can afford to buy it any other way.

County Lines

gemilyx · 04/09/2021 17:53

My nephew is 13 and has requested Hoodrich or Money for his birthday.

leavesthataregreen · 04/09/2021 17:54

DSs say North Face and Adidas. Their friends are head to toe in it.

leavesthataregreen · 04/09/2021 17:54

Or Supreme.

Hellocatshome · 04/09/2021 17:59

It must vary by area as some brands mentioned here, image conscious 14 year old DS wouldn't be seen dead in. I think your best option is to have a look at passing teenagers and get a feel for what is in in your area.

LadyCatStark · 04/09/2021 19:20

It all depends on his style, my 12 year old wears Vans, Converse, Fox, DCs, Quicksilver etc but he’s a skater.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 04/09/2021 20:28

@LegendaryReady ah, thank you - I’m in NI and it’s a term I’m not familiar with.

leavesthataregreen · 04/09/2021 21:40

@pinkcattydude

Mine looks like Northface has vomited on him, he loves it but I prefer his Hollister stuff, so snuggly
I know. Those Hollister Tee shirts - they were so so soft. DTeens still wear their old ones for bed but would never wear them in public now. I loved them! And the Socal deo to steer them away from Lynx. I feel nostalgic now.
stridesy · 05/09/2021 08:14

Thanks for the replies lots of ideas. My son is autistic and doesn’t really care too much for clothes and is happy as long as it’s soft and he goes to an sen school so doesn’t overly have a peer group to impress. We’ve only just moved out of the minecraft T-shirt phase.

If you're looking for a soft hoodie then have a look at Hollister. My DS has one that's been washed loads of times and is still incredibly soft.
