Stocking fillers for teenage boys....

... ok, have been here before, but still not really got what I need. With no offence to anyone, would rather hear from people who have actually bought things that have gone down well with teenage boys (rather than people who - very kindly- look up websites but have never been through the nightmare of a teenage DS opening their stocking on Christmas morning!)

P.S. hope you know what I mean, don't want to upset anyone, just need tried and tested ideas this year, having screwed up big time the last couple of years.

the problem is tho that they are still little boys at heart. If they didn't want the stockings in the first place, life would be a lot simpler....

OK, will try the "you're too old to believe in santa so should be bloody grateful for getting a stocking at all" routine this year. Will let you know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but if you've got smaller children, you have to get a stocking for the teenager, just to keep up the pretence, lol.

santaslittlebumper · 01/12/2007 23:42

how about whoopee cushions, fart putty stuff like that, you can pick them up in pound shops

lilolilbethlehem · 01/12/2007 23:42

did a whooppee cushion a couple of years ago. For anyone else looking for ideas, this was ACE. Even my elderly (now sadly departed) MIL thought this was hilarious. A must have for any child who's not had one before!!!

LYNX IS DISGUSTING! PLEASE DON'T BUY ANY MORE OF IT!

LOL at teenage girl. That's what I'd have wanted in a stocking (or two) on the end of my bed at Christmas!

Agree Lynx is foul stuff.

no, I've never bought Lynx. If I do buy toiletries, then sporty things such as Umbro/Adidas etc. He's 14, and a young 14, so too old for a lot of the hawkins bazzarr stuff (tho have got a few things from there) but not quite old enough to have left stockings behind.

DS2 is 14 but he's just gone to bed; I'll ask him tomorrow, under the guise of needing to know for you (a cunning plan, no?)

KaySamuels · 02/12/2007 10:11

I will be watching this thread with interest as I have a 10 (going on 18) dss, who is very 'cool' and is a nightmer to buy for (especially as we areon a very tight budget)!

Rosylily · 02/12/2007 10:28

I have a 16 year old and we all get socks in our family which we all contribute to so I don't even know everything he'll get in his sock. What goes down well....batteries, sweets, money, small reindeer that does poos , a new toothbrush, gellpens, funny badge, mobile top up, bodyshop mens stuff, cuddly toy, small orange, chocolate money.......

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 02/12/2007 10:46

I have more teenage nephews than is fair. Successes have been packets of fake snow (you mix it with water and then chuck it at your dad), penknives (don't chuck at dad), torches, fishing weights, compass, glow sticks, mini-tins of coke, adidas shower gel and Snazaroo Sports tins for face-painting football fans.

And they still like sweets/chocolate.

curlywurlycremeegg · 02/12/2007 10:54

hmm well I have pre teen (12) DS1 and used to get loads of stocking stuff from hawkin bazzar bit it just got looked at for the last year or so then ended up at the bottom of a drawer So decided I would get more "grown up" stuff last year and it went down better...audio books, music cds, lush do a small but nice range of "men's" toiletries, little LED lights that plug into the USB port on his computer....but if the "grown up" stuff didn't go down well last year then I would try some hawkin bazzar stuff, it's always good fun
