Inspired by threads in previous years that have been so useful. My just adults sons love a stocking, and prepare a lovely thoughtful one for me too. I think they like it because they are surprise, quirky gifts rather than larger gifts that they have requested.

We always have Christmas socks, mini panettone, chocolate coins, stationery items, and maybe some not lynx smellies.

Previously I have given nail clippers, gloves, hats, rolled up tshirt, multi tool, bike paraphernalia. I realise this list is not very quirky. I will try to remember more inspiring ideas.

Would anyone like to share ideas? Would like to get started...

@70isaLimitNotaTarget sorry to jump in but the beard stuff from lush, is it any good?
My DP has quite dry skin and finds his beard irritates his skin during the winter but he doesn't quite suit not having a beard Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2021 20:31

bings it is good , stops him getting dry flakey skin under his bottom lip ( I'm reliably informed that's the Soul Patch).
They just need a tiny bit lasts ages.
I cannot imagine mine without , I 'm not a fan myself but so many of the younger footballers etc have them, beards are a huge trend
But only if they're kept nice Xmas Grin

Squirrelblanket · 16/08/2021 20:32

@triplechoc Do you have a link to the torch please?

NellyTimes · 16/08/2021 20:44

This is a great website for any football fans.

actiongirl1978 · 16/08/2021 20:53

I put all DHs present in his stocking, we don't buy a huge amount but make it as good quality as possible.

So last year had: Boden socks x3, some expensive hand cream (he is a gardener) and some more socks from The Hambledon online shop. Plus good chocolates from Choccoco.

This year he will have two bottles of his favourite craft beer we buy on holiday which he drinks sparingly after every holiday. Also he is Irish so I will try to find some Taytos and Club Orange somewhere if we don't get over there before Xmas.

I might add something that will come in handy with his Kayak to keep him warm as he gets very cold kayaking in the winter.

Thank you very much!

I've added it to the list Grin
I don't mind them and much prefer it when it's kept neat, I always buy something like a beard oil but he rarely uses it and only on occasion so there's no point buying more till he's ran out but this will be an unusual gift and he's always keen to try new things Grin

triplechoc · 16/08/2021 21:05

@Squirrelblanket The exact one I bought doesn’t seem to be available anymore, but this is basically the same thing.

@triplechoc Thank you!

Place marking. I think my biggest past stocking hit was a more complicated paper plane construction kit. Amused him a lot over that Christmas.

AliceMcK · 16/08/2021 22:43

DH & I don’t usually do stockings or even buy regular gifts for each other but we decided this year we would treat ourselves. Inspired by another thread we have decided to buy things we actually want for ourselves. The only thing I make sure he gets each eye are is his Dark Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

DH has so far bought himself a small box of Star Wars Lego, a Thor hammer, a 3 in one WiFi charging station.

CarolinaWeeper · 17/08/2021 08:51

We also try to go for practical/consumable so I'll just put a list of gifts that have gone down well for DH:

Bottle of whiskey
Rum truffles
Nice pen
Posh bar of soap
L'occintane hand cream
Nail clippers
Pork scratchings
Flavoured nuts
Beef jerky
Hotel Chocolat chocolates
Maple syrup
Crystal whisky tumbler or brandy glass
Rechargeable USB lighter for candles but also great for camping
Marshmallows you can get edible photos printed onto

Car airfreshener Packet of wild flower seeds
Seedballs tins are good.seedball.co.uk/shop/
Slayduggee · 17/08/2021 19:16

Excellent thread. My DH is definitely a chap who likes lots of presents to unwrap so I’m always looking for ideas.

Magpiecomplex · 17/08/2021 19:20

The build-your-own bat detector was a big hit here, although a little big for the actual stocking.

Dancingsmile · 17/08/2021 23:16

Gregg's gift voucher
Mini skull vodka
Back scratcher
Tiny remote control car ( these went down really well and cost £5)
Airfix small model
Tiny packet of fake lego
Modelling balloons
Wind up toy , one in each stocking so they race each other
Gazoo

Enko · 18/08/2021 11:07

Ds loves Molton brown and we don't live too far from an outlet. So I tend to get one of their mixed bag of travel sets (lots of miniatures) and wrap them individually he loves it as they are easy for him to take to gym and on weekends away.

For dh I buy 1 or 2 expensive (relative) paint brushes so like up to £10) and a paint then the rest is filler.

GalaxyGirl24 · 18/08/2021 11:09

Guylian sea shell - DH loves
Socks
Wallet
Boxers
Beard stuff
Hair brush
Skin toners nip and fab

Whatliesbeneath707 · 18/08/2021 11:32

Lots of great ideas!
Has anyone had a SHO food flask (for soup etc)? Are they worth the cost (£30 ish)?

clpsmum · 18/08/2021 16:52

@Whatliesbeneath707 I have a food flask it's good I also have a 50% off discount code I can send you if you'd like it?

DelphiniumBlue · 18/08/2021 20:13

It's getting harder and harder to find stocking presents that don't fall into the "plastic crap" or "nice but never touched " categories, especially once they earn enough to buy their own gadgets.
I have 3 adult sons. They all get socks and underwear, a tshirt, maybe 2 if I see something I know they'll like, Terry's chocolate orange, possibly a magazine relating to an interest or hobby, nice pens. Last year, a pizza cutter went down well.

KateLumley · 21/08/2021 16:19

Wow, lots of good ideas, thank you. Just thought I would add a few more, from previous years...

Coasters ( I got some printed with photos for ds1)
Dobble game
Snood
Keyring
Bike multi tool
Fitness tracker
Spice mixes
Nutmeg grater
Ice cube tray / reusable ice cubes
Pencil that has a spirit level
Chilli oil
Ice towel
Nutella cook book
