HOlly and the Ivy? I can't remember it though...

LadyOfWaffle · 13/11/2007 20:06

White Christmas? Everyone knows the tune etc. for that.

notnowbernard · 13/11/2007 20:06

Was going to suggest Santa getting Stuck!

Thought it was not-very-heard-of !

southeastastra · 13/11/2007 20:07

rudolph

ruty · 13/11/2007 20:08

Holly and the Ivy gets a bit religious! You could just stick to the first verse

Oh the Holly and the Ivy
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown.

Oh the running of the deer
And the rising of the sun
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing in the choir.

After that it goes a bit holy. But nice pagan sentiments too i think.

katybump · 13/11/2007 20:11

i'm a little snowman to the tune of i'm a little teapot ,let me know if you want me to post all the words

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:11

I love Holly and Ivy, tune a bit tricky though isn't it?

should have said this is for children aged about 2 or 3 to sing

well, to shake a bell to

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:12

ooh yes please I'm a little snowman

OP posts:
ruty · 13/11/2007 20:13

the tune is quite repetitive, it isn't too bad, but maybe not the easiest for toddlers...

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:13

thanks for other suggestions, I love Rudolph and White Christmas but probably need something even simpler

anything very short or with repetition, or more like a nursery rhyme would be perfect

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:14

I think that jump from

"the holly and"

to

"the ivy"
is maybe a bit tricky to sing? Maybe it is just me

Slouchy · 13/11/2007 20:24

To the tune of wind the bobbin up

Stir the pudding, stir the pudding
Mix, mix, chop, chop chop. (repeat)
Put in some sugar, put in some spice,
lick the spoon it does taste nice.
put in some fruit put in some peel
a pudding for our xmas meal.

With a saucepan each, and a spoon to bang/stir with.

Also - twinkle twinkle little star

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:25

would it work to just do:

i'm a little snowman white and fat
don't throw snowballs at my hat
otherwise d'you know what I might do?
I'll throw snowballs back at YOU!!

I can't quite imagine the other way, without hearing it

All I want for Christmas
is my two front teeth,
my two front teeth,
see my two front teeth!

Gee, if I could only
have my two front teeth,
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas."

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 20:26

oh man these are great

thanks for stir the pudding

The Tweenies do that one "Santa Claus is coming to town"

You'd better not shout, you'd better not cry,
You'd better not pout, I'm telling you why,
Santa Claus is coming to town.

He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.

Return to first verse a second time.

Do you know the tune? - sorry if you don't.
