Hoping someone can help. I love reading everyone’s lists but I have no inspiration what to get my daughter. I got all her gifts out and her pile looks very sad. Does anyone have any ideas for presents or have their lists that I can look at please?
She has so far....

Little mix tickets (fingers crossed)
Converse
Echo dot
Microwave teddy thingy
Books
Watercolour paints
Board games
Bath bombs from lush
Spongebob switch game
Led strip lights
Dressing gown new pjs etc
Big versions of her favourite chocolate

She loves art but has been gifted copic markers, a light box proper paper. She already has a laptop, switch, iPad, fitbit etc.

If anyone could help that would be great

What about a coding toy? They're more grown up but still feel.like you're.buying a toy. I got this for my FIL (who now he's retired likes a wee project) and I'm really impressed with it. I teach STEM in a primary school and my P6/7s would manage it www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_106050065699_-1

That's a lot more than many kids will get under their tree this Christmas OP.

user686833 · 13/12/2020 12:14

@MrsGrindah OP already listed 'board games' (plural) on the list. I noticed a few other items on the list were plural so suspect this is already a huge pile of gifts.

OP you have now said you are thinking of adding board games, but you've already listed plural? Confused

scrivette · 13/12/2020 12:17

I understand as my 9 year olds gift look far less than his younger siblings.

Could you pass it out with a couple of cheaper items such as pens, hair accessories etc?

The idea about wrapping the tickets in a larger box is a good idea too.

blowinahoolie · 13/12/2020 12:25

Children don't need lots of presents, but each to their own. Sad to think many kids won't get a present this Christmas and at the other end of the spectrum parents fretting over not having spent enough....

DC each not getting more than £100 each spent on them, as they will be given from relatives too. They need to learn you don't get everything you want in life, earlier the better.

Being together and being healthy trumps materialism every time IMO

SmileyClare · 13/12/2020 12:37

Fair enough if you want to "bulk" out the gifts by wrapping them in big boxes or something. You could wrap up a big Little Mix poster?

However you said Op "I've already spent my budget" so I think it would be daft to spend a lot more wouldn't it? Sorry to be a doom merchant but who knows what next year brings in terms of financial difficulties and job losses all over the place.

You can say Your brother's pile looks a bigger than yours, but I've spent the same on you both" Your daughter is old enough to understand that. She will be delighted with her presents so no need to worry is there?

Aponcetasticchristmastoall · 13/12/2020 12:47

I’m so surprised at how many people think this is over top, it’s a lovely pile of presents and in no way braggy!!

I have a 9yoDD who I wouldn’t say is particularly grown up but this is the 1st year Santa isn’t bringing her any toys.

Her main presents are a telescope, a pink sparkly riding hat a (fake) Oodie and some Maileg bits which she collects, she also got some less exciting extras but one of the things I did to make the pile look a bit more special was making her a baking hamper. I won a Cartwright and Butler pink traditional mixing bowl, managed to get some cute Meri Meri baking stuff to go inside. Ordered her a personalised wooden spoon and cute pinny and going to put the whole lots into the bowl and wrap up with cellophane and a big bow...

Think of cost me £20ish but that it will be one of her favourite gifts.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/12/2020 12:49

That's more than enough!

Toddlerteaplease · 13/12/2020 12:54

Any one of those things would have been a wow present when I was a kid!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/12/2020 13:13

My DC don’t get anything like that pile. We can afford it, but choose not to.

poochie27 · 13/12/2020 13:19

I don't think the op is posting about the pile being big enough or not...she is saying that whilst concert tickets are a brilliant gift, they're not that exciting on the 25th December because nothing can happen with them. Yes, her dd is very lucky to get them but the concert is likely months away and same with the trainers, lovely but not something that can be 'enjoyed' on Christmas Day. It's not about cost, she may end up giving her a little gadget or toy that's fun for use on the day. I get it!

SmileyClare · 13/12/2020 13:31

Eh? What's not fun about board games, books, a spongebob switch game, paints, decorating your room with LED lights and eating chocolate? Grin
I'm baffled by this thread.

OctaviaOrange · 13/12/2020 13:34

I hear you OP and I get it. Some posters think you're only allowed to post in here if you're A skint or B follow that pious little poem about buying 4 items.

My youngest has just turned 14 and up until last year he was happily still playing with action figures - not this year which isn't surprising of course. So it makes it harder to buy stuff for him. And yep, he has an iPhone, switch, PC, iPad, gaming set up, gaming chair etc

I spend a lot at Christmas on both my kids and I'm unapologetic about it. I'll spend what I like, same as anyone else is free to

Having said that though, I think your gifts are good. If you wanted to add more then that's easily done if you let us know what she's into

Cherryrainbow · 13/12/2020 13:34

What a great list and a lucky girl :)

Does she like pampering kind of stuff? Why not do a pamper hamper for a girly night in for you both - pop in some snacks, a few pamper bits like nail varnish, fave masks (loads of nice bits atm in places like poundland, home bargains, b&m etc) maybe a dvd? It will be bulky plus leads to some quality time as well.

Maybe a backpack or nice handbag? X

BanningTheWordNaice · 13/12/2020 13:38

You’ve seen to many piles on Instagram I think - those are great gifts.

poochie27 · 13/12/2020 13:54

@SmileyClare yes you're right, there are plenty of fun gifts in there too. I do understand where the op is coming from though but maybe didn't articulate that too well!

iwishiwasatcentralperk · 13/12/2020 14:06

Little Mix tickets are definitely a "WOW" gift. I got Olly Murs for my DD one year and she was thrilled. (We saw Little Mix last year, had tickets for this year but it was cancelled and now have tickets for next May. DD is a bit older but is still really thrilled to be going.)

DD loves Harry Potter Lego, so always has a box of that every year which keeps her busy on Christmas Day afternoon, and I always give her a game of some sort, so that we have something new to play over Christmas. Things like Uno, Dobble, Bingo, a different version of Monopoly.

If you want to bulk out the pile, then I would get a load of things for the stocking, that is what I do for DD. I went to B&M and got her some Friends stuff, so hairbrush, makeup bag, notepad, mug, and then toiletries, stationery etc .

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/12/2020 14:30

This is a bonkers thread.

DuzzyFuck · 13/12/2020 14:51

Little Mix tickets would be wow for me and I'm nearly 40!! Also just treated myself to some Converse. I think you're fine OP Smile

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2020 14:52

Haven’t read the whole thread but I understand what you mean.... my dad soon to be 10 after Christmas doesn’t have any toys and I’m concerned her pile is a bit ‘needed’ not ‘wanted’
I’ve added some crafty bits ie. a make your own lava lamp and some LOVE letters to customise from Argos in their 2 for £15 range so a bit of fun but haven’t spent loads on it IFSWIM could something like that work?

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2020 14:52

Jeez did not dad Hmm

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2020 14:52

Dd Grin

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2020 14:54

@DobbyTheHouseElk

You do which is fine but also fine to be different....
Yeahnahmum · 13/12/2020 14:55

Holy shit. Please tell me you are kidding with this list? If your kid doesnt feel like there is a wow present in here then uhm...
