We eat around 3 or 4pm. What do you eat in the evening if you eat at this time. I have my DSis and her BF visiting this year and not sure what to serve

That would be enough for us. if we did get hungry we'd have turkey sandwiches. Or maybe a couple of mince pies

Hawkmoth · 12/12/2020 02:00

Cheese footballs.

chocolatespiders · 12/12/2020 02:00

Sparkledot · 12/12/2020 02:11

If it was just our own household I wouldn't care but don't want to leave others hungry

Turkey sandwiches. Mince pies/Christmas cake. Leftovers of whatever pudding was served. Cheese & crackers (again, just whatever’s left from cheese board).

choli · 12/12/2020 02:22

Fresh fruit salad would appeal to me a few hours after a heavy meal.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 12/12/2020 06:19

I’m serving bagels two ways: smoked salmon and cream cheese or Brie and cranberry

Friendshighschool · 12/12/2020 07:41

Cheese board. Or toast. I’d likely still be really full.

Hohomerryxmas · 12/12/2020 08:48

Cold meat Sandwiches and chutney, will have a tub of chocolate on the go too.

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2020 08:50

Cheese board.
Leftovers.
A lot of wine.

santasmincepie · 12/12/2020 09:20

I'd go with nibbly bits. So cheese and crackers, pringles, cold meats, little cakes. Stuff you can just shove on the table. Nothing you have to prepare. Or at the very most get one of the party packs from aldi and shove them in the oven

RaggieDolls · 12/12/2020 09:26

I do the same as @santasmincepie... cheese board, satsumas, cold turkey for sandwiches, Christmas cake, crudités, a few crisps and people can help themselves.

Lovemusic33 · 12/12/2020 10:30

We just pick at things, left over turkey, cheese and crackers, Pringles etc...
We are usually still stuffed from a big roast.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 12/12/2020 10:41

We eat lunch earlier, about 1, and then I get out a cheese board with fruit, nuts, crisps etc and people find they do have a bit of appetite left! And port.

MitziK · 12/12/2020 11:13

Surely that's when 95% of the UK's annual pickle consumption occurs?

All of the Cheeses
Pickled Onions
Piccalilli
Gherkins
Beetroot
Grapes
Crackers
Spring Onions
Cheery tomatoes

Or, if you want it a bit fancier;

Various continental meats (Italian, French, German)
Cheeses
Chargrilled artichokes with lemon, thyme and olive oil
Green olives
Black olives
Capers
Vinaigrette Mushrooms with herbs
Bread squares
Balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dipping
etc.

Stuff that is relatively light, easily picked at and easily put back into the fridge for Boxing Day.

ivykaty44 · 12/12/2020 20:55

Cheese & biscuits, cold meat sandwiches, mulled wine and mince pies. If you’ve done smoke salmon for breakfast then this could also be a choice on bread or smoke salmon pate on bread or toast

BlueSpruce · 12/12/2020 21:15

Nobody expects another meal on Christmas night, surely?

Cheeseboard or Turkey sandwiches here if we’ve got room.

Katjolo · 12/12/2020 21:33

Cheese board

Ragwort · 12/12/2020 21:48

Can't imagine anyone would be hungry, but surely just offering cheese & biscuits, mince pies/Christmas cake is more than enough?

UndertheCedartree · 12/12/2020 21:49

We eat about 2pm then have a break before dessert. We don't then eat anything particular in the evening just some mince pies or a piece of Christmas cake. If you want to do anything else then maybe some sausage rolls and a cheese board. Noone will have appetite for much else.

starrynight19 · 12/12/2020 21:52

Cheese board.
Leftovers.
A lot of wine..

This maybe with some pickles and a baileys / champagne 🍾

Elouera · 12/12/2020 21:52

I agree to just using up leftovers. I've made macaroni cheese from the cheeseboard leftovers before. Or add some left over turkey to a jar of curry, add rice and mango chutney? Or, as others have said, just the cheeseboard again.

helloxhristmas · 12/12/2020 22:08

Cheese
Cheese
Cheese
Cheese
Maybe a couple of grapes

AurorasGingerbreadHouse · 12/12/2020 22:13

In theory leftovers from Christmas dinner (including the extra pigs in blankets I've made), leftover charcuterie and cheese board, chocolate, desserts, mince pies, I've also got some chicken Christmas trees (like nuggets).

In reality probably nothing because I'll still be stuffed!
