Those of you who wrap everything on Christmas eve...

How much do you have to wrap? I've just wrapped maybe 10 things and I can't be bothered with any more! Do you only have a few bits to wrap? Or are you one of those people who works better if there's a deadline? Is it deliberate or did life get in the way?

I should say I'm not someone who has everything wrapped by 31st October. I'll probably still have a couple of things to wrap on christmas eve. In fact I make a point of it as it feels more festive. But I couldn't do the whole lot then!

Some people have too many presents!

With DS his stocking and sack presents never got wrapped to save time. So used to do Christmas Eve with mulled wine. Would also decide which presents were Christmas and which birthday as that is a few days later! We are not very organised

All wrapped as I go. I quite enjoy putting on a Xmas movie and wrapping over the month. All stored in the loft that neither DH or DD are allowed in. DD as it's dangerous on the ladder up there, DH as he'll peek at presents! I keep a list of what DH and DD has so I don't forget one. The only ones left to wrap are mine but dh needs to do that. His only job!

I prefer wrapping a little at a time. I usually do about 3-4 presents at a time. I’ve done about half and I’m still waiting on 2 to arrive. Aim to have it all finished by next Friday before the DC break up (Covid/isolating permitting).

We’ve left it until Christmas Eve a couple of times, but DS is getting older so he stays up later. Tbh all I want to do Christmas Eve is have a bath and chill out as I know I’ve got a busy day ahead.

Did anyone see gogglebox last night?
The girls in Leeds were talking about using an ironing board to wrap on so you don’t hurt your back
I thought it was genius and I’ll definitely be doing that this year, it’s the only thing I hate about wrapping!

Ugh, DH and I left all the wrapping to Xmas eve once. Never ever again!!

Both of us had flu. The kids didn't go to sleep until midnight. We were up til 3am wrapping and ran out of sellotape.

Neither of us managed to eat a thing the next day as we were so unwell. It was totally hideous.

CeeJay81 · 12/12/2020 20:53

I've only got the kids to wrap. My plan was to do it Tuesday(day off work) when kids are at school. However they have remote learning then, thanks to the Welsh government and our council panicking. So it'll have to be done in evening. DS doesn't go to bed till 9.30 - 10 but as he doesn't believe now, so I'll be starting his sister's when he's still up. It won't be done on Xmas Eve, I'm panicking now lol never mind leaving it till then.

Graffiti Queen, that's why I do it in advance, I always think with some stuff done well ahead of ⌚, at least if something goes wrong, Xmas will still happen!!

BerthaBlythe · 13/12/2020 06:53

I like wrapping but I’m very slow at it, and I think I like it because I only do a few gifts at a time.

I keep wrapping paper, scissors, tape and ribbon in the top drawer of my desk. And like a pp mentioned I put a code on each present that corresponds to my master list.

I wrapped on Christmas Eve once when the dc were small and nearly had a nervous breakdown. Never again!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/12/2020 09:29

All wrapping is now done on the dining table here. One of my knees never properly recovered from a mammoth wrapping session on the floor a few years ago, even though it’s carpeted. (To be fair, I’m not exactly a spring chicken but I wasn’t remotely decrepit even then.).

PearlescentIridescent · 13/12/2020 10:24

Last year I had loads to wrap and was 8 months pregnant to boot. Spent all bloody Christmas eve night wrapping. Never ever again and I have even more to wrap this year so definitely doing it beforehand. Am going to start today actually!

PearlescentIridescent · 13/12/2020 10:27

Oh and yes I do usually enjoy wrapping but as with most things it is far more fun if you can stop when you get tired of it. Knowing you can't stop because they are due to be unwrapped the next morning makes it draining! Although the Christmas before that I spent an enjoyable mad rush Xmas eve with DP wrapping presents :) Where I learned his wrapping is not to my standards and he has now been decomissioned from helping

christmasathomeagain · 13/12/2020 10:43

I wrap as I go. The only things I leave till Christmas eve are things left to go in stocking so I can see what I've got left and what will fit.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 13/12/2020 10:49

We left it until Xmas Eve last year and both DC started vomiting an hour after we put them to bed. Never again. (They were fine by Christmas morning...the rest of us started dropping like flies with horrific norovirus from Boxing Day)

Purplestorm83 · 13/12/2020 11:38

Normally I do mine in advance and put them under the tree (except the stocking bits obviously, though they mostly don’t get wrapped). I also have to wrap presents for Santa to give to the kids at the nursery where I work, so that’s around 20 more things! This year we’re hopefully going away for Christmas so I haven’t put stuff under the tree as it seems daft to put it out and then pack it up again.
