I like the stockings to contain stuff that is fun but also not just "pointless tat" of that makes sense. It's harder this year when I don't fancy trawling the shops... So looking for online ideas

Past presents that have met my criteria have been things like Smiggle stationery, cool packs for injuries in fun shapes , crazy dice, but I am out of inspiration at the moment

1 boys age 10 and 2 girls age 6 and 12 Grin

It’s one of these

You roll it up and down your arm, it’s strangely satisfying and good for children who can’t sit still Grin

RickOShay · 28/11/2020 07:32

@mollscroll
I’ve just tried to do it, but failed, will get dc to demonstrate later if you like!

Linnki · 28/11/2020 07:34

Fab fab ideas, thank you Rick and everyone else!

SnugglySnerd · 28/11/2020 07:36

Dd is also 6.
I always get her a card game. Last year she got Uno this year she's getting a Top Trumps game.
I spy book - the ones you take on long journeys and score points for spotting stuff.
Bath bombs
Stationery, felt pens etc
A Rainbow Fairy book with her name (mercifully she can read these herself Grin)
A slinky
Last year a mini hot water bottle was a big hit.
Socks/gloves etc
Chocolate Santa

I like the sound of story cubes and exercise dice. Off to Google...

Marmitecrumpetsxxx · 28/11/2020 07:53

A little baking kit
Princess lip balm
Hair clips
Gruffalo hair detangler for her crazy knotty hair

Marmitecrumpetsxxx · 28/11/2020 07:54

Would like a couple more things. Probably a book (possibly space as she is very interested recently )

Liking the ideas

@GhostTypeEevee

Where do people buy phone cases for their teenagers please?
eBay.. Can get personalised ones for around £3, but there are 1000's on there. Just make sure you filter by UK only if you want them to arrive before Xmas!
HelebethH · 28/11/2020 09:38

Thank you MessAllOver. I am so going to buy one to keep in the house for when the grandchildren stay ( I am my emergency services daughters support bubble for her night warches). They will love it! I can see hours fun. Problem will be getting them out of the bath. Another thing you may be interested in depending on childrens ages is Lego Submarine. Prob a wrapped present as opposed to stocking filler. They build the lego and then can be used as a bath toy. Even as bubble blowing fishes.

HelebethH · 28/11/2020 09:41

MessAllOver I meant Lego Duplo Submarine. Will see if I can find the link

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 28/11/2020 09:52

Bath bombs and bubble bath
A character toothbrush (Trolls, Minions, Spider-Man etc)
Fluffy slipper-socks
Felt tips and nice bits of stationary
Microwave hand warmers to put in coat pockets
Hot chocolate stirrers
Packets of seeds for the spring
A favourite magazine rolled up

HelebethH · 28/11/2020 09:54

Cant get the link to work but here is a screenshot. Hope it works

@JiltedJohnsJulie

One of the best stocking fillers we had when the DS were much younger was plaque disclosing tablets.
I love this! Thanks, got some :)
MessAllOver · 28/11/2020 10:39

@HelebethH. Like the look of the submarine! DS's birthday is 5 days after Christmas so it's a very gift-heavy time of the year (family are very generous as well and everyone does separate Christmas and birthday gifts so am always being asked for suggestions). Last year, the poor boy was so overwhelmed that we ended up putting most of his presents in the loft and bringing them out over the next few months!

MrsMiaWallis · 28/11/2020 10:47

Older teens.

Nice/posh pants
Posh shampoo
Personalised face cloth
Personalised phone charger stickers (both etsy)
Small bottle alcohol (for the 2 older teens)
Small book (how to see if your dog is a genius/nosh student cookbook/white witch spells - 3 v different teens!)
Body Shop fruity soap
Loads of sweets

elQuintoConyo · 28/11/2020 10:55

Our 9yo has:

Glow in the dark nerf bullets, in a wrist cuff
lLght-up laces
Gameboy keyring
Charger cable for tablet
Crocodile game (press his teeth in until his mouth snaps shut, hours of fun!)
Minecraft pyjamas
Minecraft top trumps
Exploding Kittens (plays with a friend, so i know he likes it)
Backsratcher (telescopic, it'll go in his cracker at Xmas lunch)
Bath bomb
Glowsticks
Fancy bike lights
Animal cable bites

I might add the duct tape and plaque-disclosing tablets!

Past successes have been fingerlights - so much fun.
Decathlon compass
Other card games (uno, monolpoly deal, sushi go etc)
Mini Pringles
Snow spray (for his window, he went mad!)
Magnetic putty
Umbrella (depending on the size of the stocking/sack)

One of my favourite things is filling the stocking. He's getting a PS4 for his main gift, then gifts from family/friends, so he'll not want for anything.

SnugglySnerd · 28/11/2020 11:02

Invisible ink pens were a hit one year. They have a tiny UV light in the end so you can see what you have written. Also animal-shaped torches - the sort you charge by squeezing a lever so no batteries needed.
I have just ordered dd some new ballet tights too but obviously that is only helpful if your child does ballet - there might be an equivalent small item for a different hobby though e.g. guitar picks, shuttlecocks etc

floofycroissant · 28/11/2020 11:04

Good quality tweezers, nail clips, nail files. Body shop are great. I must've had mine for over a decade. Decent water bottles.

imissthebubonicplague · 28/11/2020 13:50

BM bargains have those horrible American cereals (lucky charms etc..) that aren't allowed in our house normally so I thought I would include a couple each - nice and big and bulky and can be eaten for breakfasts over the holidays !

@GhostTypeEevee

Amazon
Tidypidy · 28/11/2020 19:43

Mine like a bath sponge. Morrison's or Wilkos sell shaped ones usually.

RickOShay · 28/11/2020 19:55

Pizza scissors

OUB1974 · 28/11/2020 20:40

I've got mine some mini craft kits and scratch art. And felt tips as they always leave the lids off and I've refused to replace them normally! They have a tiny seed doll each in a tin, a christmassy lolly and some chocs. I've got some Russian dolls for the youngest (4), lego for the eldest (6) and a cuteito each. Father Christmas always leaves them a nice book to share too and I have a couple of little nature books too - Usborne minis.

MessAllOver · 29/11/2020 12:08

Have also added two impulse purchases from supermarket trip yesterday...A velcro ball/dart kit for toddler's room to channel his urge to throw things and a bubble wand.

user68634 · 29/11/2020 12:28

Probably repeating as I haven't read TFT.

Slipper socks
Torch (wind up ones are good)
Book marks
Fun soap
Fun toothbrush
Plasters
Reuseable straws
Water bottle
Cutlery set
Hairbands
Art and craft top ups
Playdoh
Hand sanitizer
Stationary
Card game
