She's approaching late 40s. Likes to be a bit younger in the way she dresses and says she doesn't feel her age.

Budget around 20-30 , she has just received a huge bottle of her favourite fragrance so that's a no go.
She doesn't do cook books and so on as she trained in restaurants and prefers to research her own recipes. Cooking gadgets a plenty.

She's quite practical but also a bit partial to something "nice" but not OTT.

Any ideas would be really handy as I'm drawing a blank!

Do people still in their forties really talk about not feeling their age? You make her sound about 80.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 22/11/2020 17:30

Middle aged lady Grin

You make her sound as if she's a hair away from retiring!

I8toys · 22/11/2020 17:30

So no alcohol. Candles from Molton Brown, Dipping adventure from Hotel Chocolat. Anything from Rituals.

thelegohooverer · 22/11/2020 17:37

A lovely selection of Ladurée macarons.

OhTheTastyNuts · 22/11/2020 17:41

A side product to complement the favourite perfume she has received - body lotion, bath/showel gel, soap

CandyLeBonBon · 22/11/2020 17:50

Blimey the description has this woman pegged as positively geriatric. A 48 woman whilst technically middle aged, hasn't yet relinquished her youth in spite of the numbers. She may well enjoy tapestry. She might also enjoy a parachute Jump experience! Concentrate on her personality not her age!

madroid · 22/11/2020 18:19

Because she's not feeling her age Grin

OwlOne · 22/11/2020 18:23

A really nice leather belt? I bought a slim studded leather belt from Hush recently and it's gorgeous. I'm tucking everything in right now.

I'm 50 and love clothes and love nice things. I would like a nice wallet, fingerless gloves (why can I not find these without the flapover thing!) audible credits, beautiful stationery, pyjamas, a travel mug, same things I would have liked at 30 really.

HerFlowersToLove · 22/11/2020 18:25

I'd really like to go paragliding in the Alps again that's my favourite 'middle aged' activity could you stretch to something like that Grin?

As for an 'attack of the vapours', people are just pointing out that what people like isnt defined by age in any way

Driving gloves www.southcombe.com/jules-women-s-contrast-trimmed-driving-gloves#color=66

A Chilly bottle

Swiss Army Knife

A pot of fantastic cacti / succulents

Blibbyblobby · 22/11/2020 18:35

One of the premium alcohol-free “gins” like seedlip?

Spied · 22/11/2020 18:41

Some nice slippers and a luxury brand foot cream/ leg cooling lotion?
(as catering often involves hours on your feet)

Yeh, I don't know what this means, yet. I'm 50 and I have no aches, no pains, I'm not lacking energy, I get up early. I suppose I cannot drink like I used to be able to. But ''not feeling my age'' is a bit depressing, like I've just beaten the odds somehow and should feel quite shit.
Gottalovesummer · 22/11/2020 18:46

I'm slightly older than your recipient and would like in price descending order:

A weekend in a European capital
A voucher for a decent restaurant
Tickets to a live gig
Voucher for haircut at a decent salon
Really decent bottle of red wine
Book vouchers

Definitely NO candles and NO prosecco

Thanks!

tassisssss · 22/11/2020 18:52

Spend your entire budget on shower gel or chocolates
Or a voucher for afternoon tea

Someone recommended to me cashmere wrist warmers by Turtle Doves - turtle-doves.co.uk. They're £26 & very chic.

DianaT1969 · 22/11/2020 18:54

Molton Brown liquid soap, a medium plant in ceramic pot sent direct to her house, a ceramic planter if she has a garden, Clarins handcream, silver stud earrings, cashmere blend scarf, silk pillowcase, a top rated black mascara, a bottle of gin with Hotel Chocolat, a couple of good books (unless she has a kindle), Missoni towel/s.

crimsonlake · 22/11/2020 18:54

Late 40's middle aged? Cringing here too...

lissie123 · 22/11/2020 19:09

Dear god I’m nearly dead as a fifty year old.

Janaih · 22/11/2020 19:13

The average life expectancy is early 80s isnt it? So 40s is therefore middle aged whether you like it or not.

GloGirl · 22/11/2020 19:14

I bought my Mum one of these (and then one for me!) Its so practical

I discovered this stuff earlier this year (at Gloucester services)
The bluebell scent smells just like bluebells, I’ve asked for some for Christmas and I’m planning on buying some as gifts
