What do I buy my DP who has no idea what he wants? Grin What are you buying your DP?

Mine has asked for a wallet and a little grooming kit thing with nail clippers and what not. Other than that I'm stuck so here for ideas too 😆

catmumof1 · 18/11/2020 13:01

DH asked for a beer brewing kit, odd but in budget so that's what he's getting!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/11/2020 13:04

Mines getting a cookbook, a leather washbag, swim shorts, t-shirt, a fish knife and a whisky advent calendar (well a 12 miniature selection box). And a canoeing book.

I know he's getting Lego and a wok as well.

EmmaStone · 18/11/2020 14:11

Just replied on another thread:

DH is getting:

a new jumper (exactly the same as one he already wears in a different, pre-approved colour),

an eye mask/headphones combo (he sleeps with an eye mask anyway, and has seen this one with built in headphones which should be less disruptive than him scrabbling around for his headphones every night),

some running kit (including a reflective skin balm so he can be seen at night)

Maybe some BBQ accessories (got a new BBQ over the summer), quite like the pizza oven suggestion.

Pants and socks!

Other suggestions: new Barack Obama book? Economist subscription? Various handy tools (I got him a great small bike tool kit which is small enough for him to take out with him when cycling, and he's in love with a recent purchase of an electric screwdriver!), a man bag, Smart Watch (if doesn't already have), washbag filled with toiletries,

Generally he's pretty practical and doesn't want novelty gifts. He wants what he wants, and on the whole, my 'thoughtful' off list gifts aren't as well used.

Pansypath · 18/11/2020 17:17

Mine is getting a wine decanter (last year he got wine society membership)

Mustbethewine · 18/11/2020 17:25

I got my DP a back massager, he sits at the office desk for hours on end and you hook this massager over the back of the chair.
Also a laird or lady gift set. Basically buys him a tiny piece of land on the grounds of a castle in Scotland and that'll give him the title laird.
He got into wearing track suits during the 1st lockdown and so got him another pair.
He loves hot Chocolte so I'm getting him the hotel chocolat velvetiser.

latheritup · 18/11/2020 17:31

Some fab suggestions! Thank you all. He's definitely having new pants & socks, that's a no brainer and easy Wink

I must be getting old, but honestly this stress about gifts for adults is just so childish. Well to me it is.

Give a big hug and a kiss, many of us have not been able to do this with extended family for months now. Presents are so unimportant.

latheritup · 18/11/2020 21:33

@Zixxy yep, you're getting old. We've had a tough year and want to end it with a fabulous Christmas. If you have nothing positive to bring then no need to comment. It was just a lighthearted thread for gift ideas Smile

@Zixxy at 33 I am the baby of our family... so should we just not get involved because I haven’t produced a child?

Don't worry, @Zixxy, none of us will get you a present, we promise.

Why the need to come on with negative comments about people being childish. If you don't beleive in buying gifts for adults why are you even bothering to open the thread. I could see your point if the OP had asked for ideas that were not an actual gift but they didn't. All you have acheived here is to look a bit childish yourself.
MonkeyPuddle · 18/11/2020 22:41

DP’s birthday is in December so I’ve not decided which gifts will be got Christmas or his birthday but together he’s getting

Aftershave
Tim Peake book
Rugby tshirt
Rugby team car window sticker
Reeses pieces gift set
Lynx Africa - jokey Christmas gift
Key ring from the kids
Wallet

justasking111 · 18/11/2020 22:44

A years subscription to a monthly magazine.
A fishermans oiled sweater, he will love that.

Other than that I am stuck and his birthday is in February, he has a wardrobe full of clothes with the labels still on from last year.

latheritup · 18/11/2020 22:49

@MonkeyPuddle love the Lynx idea! Might have to join in on that one!

I already got mine a rowing machine - I'm actually quite excited about it!
DH has been working from home since March and has cancelled his gym subscription.

foreverandalways · 18/11/2020 22:56

I have bought my wonderful husband so far.....
Waffle maker
Recipe book
Canadian syrup
Numerous packs of choc coffee beans
Personalised crystal decanter
Mug
Key ring
Teeth whitening water flossed

bluerad · 18/11/2020 22:58

A tennis racquet
Purple shirt
Rugby top
Chocolate

JoeNotExotic · 18/11/2020 23:02

He’s getting a gin/wine subscription (haven’t decided yet!)
Renew his Economist and peloton subscription
Shirt
A pair of monk strap shoes
And I’ve booked a short break for all of us and his kids.

NullcovoidNovember · 18/11/2020 23:02

Lego! I really hope it keeps him occupied for a bit and he enjoys it because it will be the most expensive present I've ever got him.. For years we couldn't afford to give each other gifts.... And it's a sort of one off thing isn't it. However I'm hoping it will retain collectors value?.

Other than that I was wondering about a bike or electric scooter?

Toilenstripes · 18/11/2020 23:02

Dressing gown
Shirt
Cheese making kit
Socks
Darth Vader pen holder
Blue suede jacket after seeing Toto Wolff looking gorgeous in one

NullcovoidNovember · 18/11/2020 23:03

Oh yes and maybe new tracksuit... Mine also got into them 😂😂

Ginnotgym · 18/11/2020 23:10

Shirt
Vintage mont Blanc mechanical pencil
Aston Martin Lego
Whisky
Big pizza cutter knife type thing
Mid life crisis Nike air jordans

Read some good advice recently- if your other half doesn't want for anything, upgrade something he uses all the time

LucyLemons · 18/11/2020 23:13

Mine is impossible to buy for. He has everything he wants and anything he needs, he buys himself - so Xmas is a challenge! He also has very specific tastes

Anyway - I've managed it somehow and he's getting ..

Ralph Lauren lounge pants
Mahabi slippers
A mini thera gun
A 15 pair box of socks from The London Sock Co
Box of hotel chocolat chocolates

It's more than I'd usually spend but hey, it's been a tough year and the present I had planned for @Zixxy , I've cancelled 😂

CaptainCarp · 18/11/2020 23:35

I'm struggling with DP this year. Got him pants, socks & a new pair of trainers last month for his birthday.

He doesn't drink whisky, wine, ale or gin so I can't even get him a nice bottle of something.

He is getting a toolbox as his old one is broken but he knows he's getting that (as he picked it) so I want a couple of surprise gifts for him.
I've got to get something from DSC to him as well... Unfortunately they are still a bit young to be much help yet & not being able to have a "mooch" round the shops this year is scuppering me.
