Hi all,

I would like to do a big hamper for my husband for Xmas from my daughter and I :). He says he doesn’t want anything but he’s been pretty amazing this year and has become a new daddy and has put up with a lot of hormonal outbursts from me pre-birth! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ideas please? He does clay shooting, loves being outdoors, being, cars, watches, loves food and drink, smellies etc etc! Any out of the box ideas would be great too! Or ideas from my daughter (she’s 4 months old :))

Thank you so much! :):)

I'm doing a hamper for my DH too. Mainly because he's difficult to buy for so I thought lots of smaller things but packaged nicely would be something he'd appreciate. So far I'm planning:

Bottle of whisky
Aftershave
Body shop hemp hand cream as he gets dry skin in winter
Coffee beans.... got him some from Fortnum and Mason last year he was really pleased with
Roasted nuts
Pork scratchings
Hotel Chocolat chocs
He's bought himself an Ooni pizza oven so I'll also include a pizza recipe book.

Outdoor Enthusiast magazine
Thermal mug
Food flask

A foot print. Soak a sponge in poster paint. Press on baby's foot and print. Laminate and cut into wallet size.

Photo book, everyone just keeps a million photos on their phones, so it's nice to choose a few special ones and print.

Unusual spice mixes, cook book ( the roasting tin series is excellent, especially presented with a roasting tin). Chilli oil. Foodie subscription?

Also maybe think about starting traditions for your new family, ours are silly Christmas socks and chocolate coins.

Oddsocks United ‘Nice Try’ socks
UGears Geneva drive

ColdCottage · 14/11/2020 18:40

How about a weekend away somewhere where he can go on a foraging tour in the day and come back and enjoy a nice meal with you in a nice gastro pub with rooms abs maybe a roaring fire?

ColdCottage · 14/11/2020 18:41

What is your budget?

I have tried to do an a photo book every year, I wish I had started it when I first got married. Husband loves it and although no longer s surprise the years he hasn't got one he has been disappointed.
I do it Nov to Nov.

I'd suggest maybe Not on the Highstreet for somewhere to start looking but can't promise that they will have them 🤞🏻

Outdoorsy...... binoculars, bird book, uk flora/fauna pocket ID book. Pocket survival tin with para cord, flint etc. Wallet ninja multi tool or Swiss Army knife. Flask. Torch.

Just as stocking filters I have got my husband a paper plane kit, little remote control drone helicopter thing. His favourite tea and a new mug. A travel mug for work. Novelty socks. His favourite sweets.

PigletJohn · 14/11/2020 20:39

must have something to eat and something to drink and something to wear.

be careful of expensive sport or hobby or watch thing because the one you choose might not be quite the one he wants.
has he got an auto watch winder?

Otherwise you could have an outing to the outfitter/vendor when you say what you'll spend (should be a bit more extravagant than he would have bought himself)

I thought the point of hampers was the contents are connected - like a movie night hamper etc

If it’s just a collection of things the recipient will like, why put them in a hamper as opposed to wrapping them separately?

RelightMyPfizer · 14/11/2020 21:10

He says he doesn’t want anything

That is the answer
A hamper full of stuff isn't

If you must buy - they get one amazing item

Thewinterofdiscontent · 14/11/2020 21:12

Gun oil and warm socks for the shooting. Let them chose their own equipment otherwise. I saw a lovely idea for putting fairy lights inside used cartridges to make an appropriately themed decoration.

A photo book always ends up better than it sounds. My DH loves the ones he’s been given. Can you get old photos from his parents and put them together ( assuming they are still around) ? You can get a discount on 2 and then give the other to them as well!

There’s a range of game flavoured crisps - wild boar, pheasant etc that you could put in the hamper. There’s a couple of websites that specialise in wild meat that have them but I found them in TK Maxx last year.
Does he support a premiership rugby team or just the national ones? My DH carries a hardback notebook for work. I found this guy on Etsy and bought the rugby postcard which I stuck to the front of a plain hardback notebook from paperchasel DH’s favourite book now, modern rugby prints

BabyCJuly · 14/11/2020 22:18

@Thewinterofdiscontent love these! Will take a look xx

What about a forage box subscription? The look pretty cool, not my cuppa tea but a few people o know love them! www.forage-box.co.uk/

I'm making one for myself and DP. I've got a brandy coffee set, Baileys fudge, truffles and hot chocolate, some really nice belgium chocolates, aftershave, body wash and moisterizer for him (some makeup for me), some nice jam, marmalade and honey, chocolate covered honeycomb and a big Christmas scented candle. Will probably just add a few savoury nibbles.

Youseethethingis · 14/11/2020 22:40

I did a bath theme for my DH birthday that might work here. Bath salts, favourite scented soak, bath pillow and wooden bath board with grooved for iPad and beer. Massive hit, one very happy (and pampered!) DH. Grin

Thats unusual
waitrosetrollydolly · 14/11/2020 22:50

Before you do the spending etc - check that he's not said he doesn't want anything because he's worried about money running out.

UndertheCedartree · 14/11/2020 22:52

@RelightMyPfizer - what of it?Confused
