Hi all,

I would like to do a big hamper for my husband for Xmas from my daughter and I :). He says he doesn’t want anything but he’s been pretty amazing this year and has become a new daddy and has put up with a lot of hormonal outbursts from me pre-birth! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ideas please? He does clay shooting, loves being outdoors, being, cars, watches, loves food and drink, smellies etc etc! Any out of the box ideas would be great too! Or ideas from my daughter (she’s 4 months old :))

Thank you so much! :):)

what of it?

It is slightly odd to give someone a gift and then be taking out the bits that are for you

UndertheCedartree · 14/11/2020 23:06

@Butterflyfluff - well, it's a joint present. He's welcome to take out the bits that are specific for him!

Does he play rugby or just watch?

There is the "oddballs" underwear etc. Always see it advertised at the rugby. Think they do other bits but the boxies are what I know them for

Doesn't he buy you anything? You clearly like getting gifts, it is unusual to buy your own gifts and put them into a joint present.

What bits are for him?

Okaaay then.........so he can take out the bits of the gift you give him, that are actually for him

@RelightMyPfizer - as I thought I made clear there is aftershave, body wash and moisterizer for him, makeup for me and the rest is shared. Yes, he will get me something. But my therapist told me to take care of myself the way I take care of others. And do you know what I realised about Christmas is I used to love my stocking as a child - all the little things and the chocolate and I try to recreate that for others...so this year I'm going to recreate it for myself too!

@Butterflyfluff - as I said it is a joint gift so not just for him. Most of the items are shared.

So get him to buy you a gift and recreate your stocking.

Everyone has stockings in out house and all visitors. I make them all except mine. My DC are grown up and DH and DC all get a little thing for my stocking.

itsgettingweird · 14/11/2020 23:29

I'm doing them for my dad and brother.

So far I've got him and tonic after 8 mints, some mini chutneys, sudoku that's like a Rubiks cube and will do port, cheeses and some interesting crackers. Also some card games/ quizzes etc.

That’s very thoughtful @waitrosetrollydolly :). Tricky year indeed it has been. xxx

@RelightMyPfizer - he will buy me a gift. I would prefer a hamper to a stocking. And as there's lots of things we both like it makes it nice to be a joint hamper. I'm not going to be able to eat all the chocolate and jam etc all on my own! I've not had a stocking for over 20 years - just my DC get them from FC.

Isn't what you want to recreate the magic of not knowing what will be in the stocking? (hamper)

BabyCJuly · 14/11/2020 23:38

@UndertheCedartree I think this is really lovely! It’s nice to be kind to yourself too :).

@RelightMyPfizer - no, it's not about that. It's about having some nice bits and pieces I'll really enjoy.

@BabyCJuly - thank you! That's exactly it - being kind to myself as well as others!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 15/11/2020 08:04

@UndertheCedartree well I get where you're coming from! In fact I've clocked that idea for if DH and I ever have to spend Christmas Day on our own if/when the DC have to spend the day with their other halves' families.
I just see the hamper as a Christmas treat box with some things you've chosen for yourself and some for your DH.
