I'm after a book:
-Has a winter/Christmas theme
-I'm usually into chick flicks or psychological suspense. I fancy something easy to read, nothing too heavy and that I can pick up easily once baby is asleep!
-Something cosy to escape to.

I did look up Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles but it's expensive to buy. I have just read Sophie Kinsella's Christmas Shopoholic which was an easy read. Any recommendations?

Winter Solstice by Rosamund Pilcher. Cosy, enjoyable nonsense.

diplodocusinermine · 02/11/2020 09:45

Kelly Park by Jean Stubbs.

A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg; it's very readable, funny and cheering.

Pizzaistheanswer · 02/11/2020 09:49

Twelve Days of Christmas by Trisha Ashley. Very cosy, a festive hug in a book.

YewandOak · 02/11/2020 09:52

Another one for Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher

BabyMoonPie · 02/11/2020 09:53

I second Twelve Days Of Christmas. I read it every year starting on 1 December

Jenny Colgan’s Mure series is lovely. It’s starts with The Summer Seaside Kitchen & there’s a couple of Christmas instalments too. I’ve got the most recent one to read in December.

The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen is magical. You’ll want to download the rest of her novels!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 02/11/2020 09:57

Winter Solstice is 99p on Amazon kindle atm.

Yes to Redbird Christmas! The Miss Read Christmas books are a very short read - The Christmas Mouse, No Holly for Miss Quinn, Village Christmas

spenny121 · 02/11/2020 10:06

If you have Amazon Prime, Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles is free to download as one of the books currently included in their Prime reading.

Alldayeveryday200 · 02/11/2020 10:37

Fab thanks everyone will look through these later!
Ohh @spenny121 to we do actually have prime, I'll have a look.

The Snow Child- just beautiful.

Sarah Morgan and Karen Swan release Christmas books every year. I look forward to what they release as they’re usually set in places like Hallmark Christmas films and are light, fluffy and fun to read.

I’m currently reading A Surprise Christmas Wedding by Philippa Ashley. It’s a very light and easy read. I’d just finished a gritty psychological thriller and in comparison this is a real feel good kind of book that is very festive.

Carole Matthews has written loads. My favourite is With Love At Christmas.

flippit81 · 02/11/2020 15:51

One Day in December- a very easy read, uplifting piece of chick lit.

Autumnspice · 02/11/2020 16:09

Sarah Morgan - The Christmas sisters left me feeling all warm and cosy

MaidenMotherCrone · 02/11/2020 16:55

The Christmas Invitation by Trisha Ashley. So lovely.

Fluffymule · 02/11/2020 17:08

How to Survive Christmas by Jilly Cooper.

I tend to read it every year or so. It's very "Jilly", you know what you're getting if you are familiar with any of her writing, but it's funny and comforting all the same.

I listened to Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles via podcast last year. Was lovely to be pottering about at home listening to his distinctive tone.

I do this every year but with A Christmas Carol! I enjoyed The Christmas Sisters too by Sarah Morgan, such a cosy read. I think I'll be looking some of these suggestions up, I love a good Christmas book
daisychain1620 · 02/11/2020 17:45

Oh I've thought of another one, Christmas at the Candied Apple Cafe by Katherine Garners. I loved it because it's set in New York and who doesn't love the idea of Christmas in NYC😀

Laurendelight · 02/11/2020 19:53

The Christmas sisters by Sarah Morgan
Christmas on the little Cornish isles by Phillips Ashley
Twelve days of Christmas by Trisha Ashley
Christmas with Miss read books
I heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk
Christmas kisses by Alison May
There something about Christmas by Debbi macomber.

Some are a bit too chick lit like but very seasonal.

TH22 · 02/11/2020 19:58

Most definitely following this thread!

sueelleker · 02/11/2020 20:02

I love these by Heidi Swain.
www.fantasticfiction.com/s/heidi-swain/wynbridge/
Some of them are summer books, but there's several Christmas ones as well.

Alldayeveryday200 · 02/11/2020 20:30

Thanks so much so many good suggestions. I've downloaded one. I've put clean sheets on my bed, swapped my summer duvet over to my thicker one and am about to head up to bed now and enjoy a cosy read!
Thanks for the tip about the podcast too @Fluffymule I've downloaded that too.

I've got The Great Christmas Knit Off by Alexandra Brown which I haven't read yet but it sounds like what you're after.
