What's going in your kids Christmas Eve Box?

If you're doing one. If you're not then please don't feel the need to reply, there are other threads for that.

I'm looking for some unusual ideas really. We have the standard PJs and hot chocolate. We also almost always have a dressing gown, a book (either reading or activity) and a small TY beanie boo plush. However I always like to include something a little different each year, for instance last year they got a cup with a curly straw and the year before they got a furry water bottle. I usually spend weeks going round the shops in the lead up to Christmas and always manage to find something fun during that time but due to covid I won't be doing that this year. The girls are 8 and 5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ohh sounds great! We live abroad now and I really miss finding fun/different bits of the Xmas eve box as we don’t have much choice of shops!
We now just do the pyjamas, Christmas socks for the girls and Christmas boxers for DS & DH, and some Christmas chocolates to eat whilst watching a Christmas film.
I try and find a little game we can all play, last year they had some fun bits in flying tiger!

anothermansmother · 22/10/2020 12:20

I always try to find a game, last year uno year before mini hungry hippos. My ds is now 14 and dd 10 but I like the fact we get on our new pjs and slippers have a film to watch and just generally chill out.

CallieJones · 22/10/2020 12:22

Mine used to get a gingerbread house, an annual and a shared Tobar Crystal growing snowman or tree that develops crystals as the day goes on

Isadora2007 · 22/10/2020 12:23

I do an advent bundle just to spread it out as I hate Xmas PJs after Xmas! 😂
But have some wee suggestions anyway, if that’s okay?
Blankets or bedding
Slipper socks
Hot chocolate and marshmallows and cream with candy cane in
Glow sticks for a fun bath
Bath bombs
A new book
Hat and gloves for a cosy walk
Dvd or film rented online?

PosyBoo · 22/10/2020 12:29

Im the same as you OP, looking for a bit of inspiration! Last year I put in the usual as well as a Bluetooth microphone, which I instantly regretted but my DD and nieces thought was the most fun ever Grin

I’m thinking maybe this year I’ll make it a party box and put in the usual as well as one of those disco light bulbs, some party poppers and a pass the parcel.

crochetmonkey74 · 22/10/2020 12:43

what about bubbles, colouring book and a game of snap?

reginaphalangeeee · 22/10/2020 12:48

My son get the same every year, he gets;

Christmas pyjamas
Dressing gown
Slippers
Small Christmas teddy
Chocolate (usually mint matchmakers)
Book - used to be a Christmas story book but he’s older now so just whatever I think he’ll like.

TheCrow · 22/10/2020 12:51

How about a mini movie night hamper? Dvd/netflix/film on the TV, packet of microwave popcorn, sharing bag of sweets, blanket to all wrap up in. Or hot chocolate- different flavoured hot choc sachets, Christmas mug, mini marshmallows or those marshmallow toppers, mini gingerbread men for the side, Christmas sprinkles for the top?

VirginiaWolverine · 22/10/2020 12:58

Pyjamas, candy canes, a letter from the elf, Christmas stockings, the books we have every year, thank you cards, festive relaxing pillow spray.

2020hasbeenbloodyawful · 22/10/2020 13:00

feellikezerobucks · 22/10/2020 13:01

I do a family one, and this year as well as the usual pj, hot choc etc Ive got;
A 500piece puzzle with a family picture on
A photo book from a pre covid holiday to Disney
Floor is lava board game (kids love watching this on Netflix)
Posh biscuits/chocolates (as the they make the kids feel very grown up!)

Beaglemum93 · 22/10/2020 13:10

My DS is only going to be 1 this Christmas but I'm putting in:

Christmas pjs
A Christmas book
Jellycat Christmas pudding
Christmas rubber ducks

VanGoghsDog · 22/10/2020 13:15

I did one for my adult niece and nephew once.

As well as the things above they got a bauble, relevant to them, to put on the tree. (And a miniature of their favourite drink but not applicable to youngsters!).

Sleep balm as well.

hiredandsqueak · 22/10/2020 13:27

Dd doesn't get a Christmas Eve box as such more Christmassy stuff given in December usually on a Friday after school. I've got her a Christmassy jigsaw and one of those annoying moving and musical cuddly toys from Dunelm so far. She gets a new one each year. She will most likely get Christmas pyjamas and fluffy socks as well and Lush bath bombs. Don't buy sweets, chocolate or hot chocolate as she doesn't like them.

aToadOnTheWhole · 22/10/2020 13:34

Obligatory PJs Grin
I've got a melting chocolate snowman from Aldi, DS is nearly four and hot chocolate is a novelty here.
Fluffy festive socks probably.
Something jazzy for the bath.
TTNBC book
Nativity book.
Christmas stocking and Santa plate.

I'll probably get some gingerbread men for decorating on the day and maybe a Christmas sticker book.

RainingDogs · 22/10/2020 13:40

Love these threads :) We do a small Christmas Eve bag. This year it will contain pjs, a book and a smores kit - so a bag of marshmallows, jar of Nutella, packet of sweet biscuits (like Nice biscuits), skewers and one of those small gel burner tins that you light so we can toast them in the house 😊 The gel burner was only a few quid off Amazon.

Bloomburger · 22/10/2020 13:43

What you don't think Christmas Eve boxes are ridiculous and disgusting 😂

VanGoghsDog · 22/10/2020 14:42

Oh, we all got a Christmas mug in the ones I did (I did my own too!).

CallieJones · 22/10/2020 15:42

Ignore the troll

Unicorners · 22/10/2020 15:48

Mine are getting new book, bath bomb, and a gingerbread man in theirs this year.

Wherearefoxssocks · 22/10/2020 15:49

I think the "troll" was joking!

OP what about wind up toys to race?

CallieJones · 22/10/2020 15:52

Sorry Bloomburger didn't realise

DeliciouslyFemale · 22/10/2020 15:52

A hot chocolate cup and shortbread set.
PJs
Slippers
Fancy Christmas tree ornament, that I will try to buy in relation to something she’s experienced this past year. (Anyone know where I can buy a Christmas decoration of a tiny person stuck in a house. 🤣)

A little lunch box of snacks, that I will make up on the day, full of things like carrot sticks, mini hummus tub, chocolates, because we’ll just have soup for dinner and have ‘party’ food, while watching a Christmas film.

DeliciouslyFemale · 22/10/2020 15:54

I keep reading what other people are getting, thinking “that’s a good idea”, then thinking, “I’m going to need a bigger box”. 😁

ParadeOfRemotes · 22/10/2020 16:36

We have an engraved bell for each child that lives in the Christmas Eve box until they are going up to bed. They hang the bell on the tree and ring it to let Santa Claus know they are going up to bed and straight to sleep!

We also keep our Rudolph plate/Santa cup in them so they get them out and fill them with the carrot/milk etc. Also some 'reindeer food' for sprinkling.

We have the same book (a fancy copy of the Night Before Christmas) in ours that we bring out every year as well.

We always hang out our stockings last thing on Christmas Eve so I'm wondering about just keeping them in the boxes too (we now use the same ones each year).

I saw on another thread (you know the one Wink) someone suggested a 'santa please stop here' sign for putting out which I thought might be quite sweet.

Ours is very much an 'equipment required for Santa coming' box!
