What are you planning for your desserts?
Do you go traditional pudding or have a mix up?

I'm thinking a pavlova type dessert & something chocolate based.

Interested to hear others' choices for the big day.

It's not available yet because it's seasonal stock, but Sainsbury's do the most decadent Yule Log i've ever had and I eagerly await it's return to the shelves every year. It's their taste the difference one. Perfect with a bit of cream/ice cream. It'd be the kind of thing to give you a heart attack mind.

Along with everything else on Christmas day of course....Grin

I usually bake a chocolate cake. We made a rice crispie wreath one year, although making was more fun than eating it.

I always make a trifle and then make myself sick eating it as no one else likes it. But I LOVE it, the Birds one, no other version will do Grin

Boxing day we buy a selection of those mini desserts you freeze, so mini eclairs, mini donuts etc..

I’m the only one who eats Christmas pudding so I’ll get a single one of those for myself. Each year I make Mary Berry’s frangipane mince pies, we start them on Christmas Eve after dinner and carry on eating them over the next couple of days. Also get the M&S Woodland Yule Log and I’m going to try their Sticky Toffee Trifle.

Options are:

Christmas pudding with brandy butter
Christmas cake
Cheese and crackers
Trifle
Lemon or Raspberry Roulade

Might sack off the Christmas pudding this year

Boozy Black Forest trifle 🤤

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/10/2020 15:54

Every year, without fail, I make a (huge) trifle and a lemon meringue roulade. Always enough to last a few days and we have Cherry Liqueurs and Chocolate Florentines, Snowballs, After Eights and Ferrero Rocher to nibble on too! no wonder I'm the size of a house by NYE

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 16:04

We usually have A LOT of people so numerous options plus a massive Christmas pudding. This year I might do a nigella white choc / whiskey / Bailey's cheesecake. It's to die for.

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 16:05

Can't really justify numerous options plus guest dessert for four.... Or can you?...

DuesToTheDirt · 27/10/2020 16:12

We often go for zuccotto, which is rich but refreshing. The recipe I use is a bit like this.

myhobbyisouting · 27/10/2020 16:23

@SummerHouse course you can. Just feast on them all week or treat the neighbours to left overs

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 17:38

That's the spirit Myhobby you are right of course. Grin
