Sorry, wasn't too clear, I meant a trike without pedals, like these.
www.pintoys.com/toy/html/rideontoys001.htm

we had the smallest one, 00539.

btw, He may be walking by then

emkana · 12/10/2007 09:27

Flier, that was exactly what I was looking for for my ds! Strange though, how do you order on that site?

Flier · 12/10/2007 09:31

emkana, I think we got it from nurseryandtoys, but I've seen it elsewhere too, I'll have a scout about and see where else I saw it.

fortyplus · 12/10/2007 09:33

A ride - on dumper truck with a tipper.

Flier · 12/10/2007 09:38

here you go, emkana, seen them elsewhere too, all around this price.

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 11:56

oooh he might like one of those trikes without pedals but if he's already got a car is it necessary??

also could he not just scoot a long on a normal trike with pedals as if it had no pedals iyswim. or would that not work?

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 12/10/2007 12:22

Those little scoot-alongs are excellent for this age-group, na - and they go on using them for a long time too (pedals get in the way of scooting and they can't use the pedals until they're at least 3, so you can get him one with pedals then)

My kids had a light narrow plastic one which was dead easy for them to manouvre and drag about - might be better than wood (although not so lovely!) Can't find one on-line, they used to be dead cheap and they might only be in local stores (if I find one I'll link to it)

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 12:30

even if the pedals are right at the front like this

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 12:31

just found this but i thought i saw a trike in the book

Sunshinecursedmummy · 12/10/2007 12:33

DS is 18m and his fave toys are his trike, Iggle Piggle, footballs and a baby keyboard thing he has.

WendyWeber · 12/10/2007 12:35

Oh no, that's a like-a-bike 2-wheeler for older children, he needs at least 3 wheels (the thing mine used had 4)

The pedals at the front do get in the way - once they are quick at scooting they swing thier feet right to the front for more acceleration

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 12:37

there's this

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 12:41

emkana there's this too

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 12:42

the one flier linked to is only £24.99 on that site i just linked to aswell.

WendyWeber · 12/10/2007 12:43

That one looks interesting! The thing you have to watch with a trike is whether it will tip if they turn the front wheel and lean over at the same time, but that design looks quite stable with the wide back wheels.

If I can't find an image like ours (and I can't yet, which is making me think they really don't make them any more) I'll scan a photo in and put it on my profile, just so you know what I'm banging on about

purpleflower · 12/10/2007 12:49

DS has this which I think is good because it will last a while here

emkana · 12/10/2007 13:43

Thanks for the links!!!

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 14:19

thought you had all given me an excellent idea with a dumper truck thin with a trailer until my mum's just told me that's what she's getting him. arghhh. back to square one. just remembered we've been given my cousin's old trike to no point in getting one of those.

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 14:32

fortyplus i've just searched for a dumper truck type thing like you mentioned but i can only find a trike with a trailer that doesn't have pedals and it's pink. any idea where my mum would be able to get one from?

OP posts:
Sunshinecursedmummy · 12/10/2007 14:35

DS's trike is from John Lewis here and is very good and seems very stable.

Flier · 12/10/2007 15:46

halfords were selling the dumper truck type ones last christmas.

Flier · 12/10/2007 15:53

nappyaddict · 12/10/2007 16:18

i want one without pedals though if i can get one cos he won't manage a pedalling one.

OP posts:
emkana · 12/10/2007 16:45

flier, the one you linked to - is that the one you have? Do you think you could measure for me how high it is? The thing is due to ds's dwarfism I need something which will accomodate his short-ish legs - that's why most ride-on toys are no good for him, he can't reach the floor.

Flier · 12/10/2007 16:55

sorry emkana, we don't have it anymore. I'll see if I can get some dimensions for you online, though.
