I’ve shared a few on the bargain thread but I think it’s worthy of its own thread. Add your own stores you recommend.

Clara, those maps look great - have just ordered the music one for DNephew.

Weebarra, thanks for the social bite link - choc brownies on the way to DSis who is isolating.

Highly recommend Persephone Books - beautifully produced, and some fabulous titles:

Someone on the 'men who are difficult to buy for' thread mentioned a Scottish publisher, Birlinn Books and I've ordered some sporting books for BIL and DH birlinn.co.uk/ - they have all sorts of good stuff.

I recommend Hoxton Street Monster Supplies www.monstersupplies.org, for sugar dusted bogies, impacted earwax and other entertaining delicacies for stockings. The website is great fun and all proceeds go to the Ministry of Stories, a creative writing and mentoring charity for young humans.

Norugratsatall · 10/11/2020 18:05

Fabulous thread! Have already done some Xmas shopping from a few of these suggestions. Thanks to OP for starting it.

Classic yet edgy gold and silver jewellery to treat yourself or for gifts... handmade in London by the designer.

Also I think she has a pre-Xmas sale on if you follow her on Instagram. 💪🏼⚡️

This site has some lovely jewellery, earrings etc. Really pretty and reasonable and they last really well without tarnishing

Cocktails and chocolate anyone? This guy is local to me, he's a former commercial pilot and Masterchef contestant.

Exquisite chocolate and something very different.

I love Hoxton Monster Supplies hedgie great recommendation.

We normally take our nephews to the pantomime every December and I'm sad to be missing it this year. I'm planning to buy them tickets to an online panto to watch with their mum and wanted to send them some treats to eat. For boys of 11 and 8 impacted earwax fudge and brain food sweets will be perfect!

@goldenwarbler fab shout out for the Oban Choc Company, they are great!

My contributions would be Shearer Candles, Glasgow company. www.shearer-candles.com/en

Handmade girls hair accessories from Monty and Mabel, her stuff is gorgeous and rather addictive! Fab customer service too and lovingly packaged although her slots might be booked up for Xmas now. www.facebook.com/Montyandmabel/ or
montyandmabel.com/

instagram.com/nebo.peklo?igshid=17pbkgb0z0tws Glasgow based illustrator. Some really lovely prints.

I’m sure there’s more that I can’t think of right now.

Leighdraws · 11/11/2020 03:55

Thanks for hoxton monster supplies!
A friend mentioned that she’s mentioned me on this thread, so here’s a pic of my work- just in case! www.etsy.com/shop/leighdraws/ and website leighdraws.com/
I’m making letters from the Father Christmas id like to meet - he’s all excited and a bit bonkers and draws pictures of what he’s been up to. they are folded like proper old fashioned letters and sealed with a drop of wax and get really nice reviews! Thank you 😊

NeedToKnow101 · 11/11/2020 13:03

@TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet

muthahoodgoods.com/ The strong girls club, lots of empowering clothes and gift ideas. Recently also launched the brave boys club.

Maybe it should be the kind boys club?

Scout2016 · 11/11/2020 13:21

I have had some items from Claire Vaughan nature home items and cards. The website isn't great, it looks like there's not much choice but if you click on the item where it says "pix and mix" it brings up other options in the section.

www.liquoriceheaven.om

As you probably have guessed, they sell liquorice! The Lakrids chocolate coated stuff is to die for - I've warned my hubby that he better be getting me some for christmas or he wil be making his own roast Grin.

Member212711 · 11/11/2020 18:35

Fantastic thread - thank you. Have bought things from lots of different shops now. My additions:

For all things pen-related - mending old ink pens, buying new ink pens, calligraphy pens, fountain pens, refills, nibs, ink, blotting paper, notebooks etc. Super service. www.pensplus.co.uk/

and the Oxford City Christmas market was cancelled, and has gone virtual: www.oxfordchristmasmarket.co.uk/

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 11/11/2020 20:44

@NeedToKnow101Not my business, didn’t name it.

Batfinklestein · 11/11/2020 22:42

I have to add The Mouse House! This is a Lincoln based cheese shop. I’ve used them twice to send really good value cheese based gift hampers. They do free delivery for orders over £25 and the recipients loved them.

GooseberryTart · 11/11/2020 22:48

I would love some nice family Christmas cards with nice verses that I can write inside myself in my own writing (not Moonpig, Thortful). I am shielding so won’t be able to hit the shops even if lockdown ends early December.

Batfinklestein · 11/11/2020 23:18

I’m also adding these two Etsy jewellery sellers:

Sarah Beevers. Absolutely gorgeous handmade semi precious and pearl jewellery at very reasonable prices.
And Sarah is absolutely lovely.
www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SarahBeeversDesign

And Sophia Hargreaves jewellery.
Stunning fine handmade jewellery, but again at reasonable prices. She makes a range of jewellery including silver pieces which are obviously more affordable than the pricy stuff she makes with gold and gems. The designs are on the edgy side and are beautiful.
I believe she makes custom pieces too.

Acunningplanmlord · 12/11/2020 08:13

It’s great to support Etsy type shops but please, please think of actual real-life independent shops all around the country who are forced to close now at what should be their best time of year. Most/all of them will be offering click and collect and many of them will have spent a huge amount of time and money setting up new online stores. Families are totally dependent on this income and a huge number of small business owners aren’t eligible for the self employed support Scheme (because gvt has excluded a lot of common business set ups).
If you want small shops to still be there after lockdown, you need to support them now.

JeanBodel · 12/11/2020 10:11

Can I add:

lovecocoa.com/

Lovely chocolate bars, gift boxes etc.
