Just woken up and it's dreary and grey outside.
I've made a pumpkin spice tea and have been shopping for new leather ankle boots for September.

@Mrsfussypants1

I dress my house for autumn, my local asda were putting out autumn scents candles. Cozy bedding in autumnal colours with large velvet throw for the bed, cushion covers get swapped out for different textures (felt, wool etc) in layering shades of neutrals. I'll be looking to buy read diffusers with matching candles in autumnal scents in the next few weeks. I have a stash of new autumn loungewear I'd bought in next/asda sale at Christmas. Really looking forward to putting a set I got from next on, beige with little foxes on a curling up under my new velvet throw and reading an eerie book on my kindle with a hot chocolate in hand.
Sounds like heaven... 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

I love autumn the cosy pjs really need some new ones this year my ones are worn to death

NoNameIdeas · 20/07/2020 16:25

My kind of people! Summer is my worst season, totally love autumn and winter! Everything awesome happens in them, and the clothes and shoes are so much better! Daydreaming of snuggly jumpers and cosy blankets...

Rupertpenrysmistress · 20/07/2020 17:01

Ah this thread has really cheered me up. I love autumn and winter. Think I need to start sourcing some lovely candles and PJ's.

Wolfgirrl · 20/07/2020 17:06

Oooh I love autumn. Even more special this year as it will be over the hump of a totally shit time for the entire world.

This autumn is going to be all about hot chocolate, Glayva (perfect autumn drink - honey and orange spiced whiskey - try it if you havent already!), long walks in the woods, early nights with a good book and (corona permitting) bonfire night celebrations with the fam.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 20/07/2020 17:29

People always say I’m weird when I talk about my love for autumn but I’m clearly not alone!

I really need new lounge wear, generally, but think September will see some nice stuff in the shops.

I asked for some black ankle boots for my (July) birthday. Perfect for autumn outfits!

I need to start marking candles again. But I want to find a pumpkin spice scent. I usually only do Christmas ones. It’s really fun to do and very easy. Not sure about making my own reed diffuser, but I might look into it.

Hopefully Homesense gets good stock this year. That’s where I buy most things.

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 20/07/2020 19:06

@VanillaSpiceCandle I can't wait for the kids to get back to school so I can go for a mooch around homesense in peace.
I bought some new wellibobs today from Amazon. They were only £20 so would have been rude not to!

Grin Autumn is indeed the Best season.

I might try a NightSchool course if any are running .

I love the crisp air and even a hint of fog . But usually its drab rain

Love buying jumpers , I don't need a thick coat at all ( hot flushes -own inner radiator)

I used to have guinea pigs , now I have two cats . Watching their fur thicken as they prepare themselves for the cold . Used to enjoy preparing their Pighouse with deep fresh hay bedding .

Hallowe'en. This year on a Saturday (I usually cake the 31st off then the 1st to tidy up) so we'll decorate but who knows what Hallowe'en willl be like .. I will have loads of pumpkins outside .
Used to have a party when the DC were younger .

Local fireworks display , 10 minute walk from our house .

We have Christmas Bedding in our house Xmas Grin . DD has grey fleecy stag bedding , insists on it going on Nov 1st .
DS has red snowflake - Dec 1st for him with the plain side showing till Christmas week.

I need new bedding for DH and I (adds to list)

I was really ill last Winter so this year I plan to enjoy what I can.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 21/07/2020 09:16

@BumpkinSpiceBatty yes Homesense is definitely the best shop for autumnal homeware. Last year was the first time I was disappointed, I’m not sure if I missed it all as I was too early or late but there wasn’t much choice. Do you know anywhere else that sells those kinds of things?

@70isaLimitNotaTarget sorry to hear you were ill last year. I hope you are better now. I’ve only discovered my love for Halloween in the past couple of years, but only kitsch stuff. Nothing scary here. Do you dress the house?

ParadiseLaundry · 21/07/2020 09:36

@Mrsfussypants1 I think we should be best friends.

Autumn is the best. I love dressing my house for autumn too, I just wish there were more cheaper options for autumn decor in the UK. TK Maxx often have some nice things but I couldn't justify the price to buy loads. Does anyone know if Country Baskets to autumnal decor? I've never been at that time of year before.

By this time of year it always feels as though the summer is over as the weather gets crap even though the school summer holidays are just starting!

tempnamechange98765 · 21/07/2020 21:56

Yes I do love autumn! September is one of my favourite months. Although I do love summer especially when it's not too hot. I DON'T like rain.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget sorry 2 hear u weren’t well last year! Hope u can enjoy winter this year. We have Christmas bedding too!

CiderGlider · 22/07/2020 07:09

This thread has filled my heart with joy! I adore autumn and have been filling my instagram feed by following kindred spirits of autumn and Christmas!

I don't know what it is, but once I hit this time of year, I'm yearning for cold, crisp mornings, cozy evenings and that feeling of anticipation that fills the autumn months.

Summer is my least favourite time of year because with few exceptions of years with lovely weather, it over promises and under delivers!

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 22/07/2020 07:16

I hear you @CiderGlider! It feels worse this year as we had a lovely warm and sunny late spring during lockdown (which i actually did enjoy being outside with my dc). I am just fed up of parks, picnics and applying suncream now!

Last year I discovered some brilliantly cheesy Hallmark films on Netflix. I hope they’re still on it. October Kiss and Harvest Moon. 🎃

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 22/07/2020 18:29

Oh well have to check those out @Yutes.
I have been looking for a similarity cheesy TV show to watch along the lines of Gilmore girls?

LeahDownTheLane · 24/07/2020 10:12

Oh this thread has given me all the feels. Autumn and the build up to Christmas is just perfect, the change in the air is so welcome after muggy summer days. I’m not a fan of summer, I hate the clothes and I hate the bugs. I need cosy jumpers, brushed cotton bedding, big pumpkins and hallmark movies. This country is really lacking in autumnal decor though but if you’re looking, try Etsy. Just search autumn decor and set the filter to U.K. sellers. I’ve already bout some beautiful linen pumpkins and a couple of signs.

I've never really thought about dressing the house for different seasons (apart from Christmas time), such a good idea!
Morninglatte · 25/07/2020 18:18

What a lovely thread!
I have recently discovered a lovely woodland walk near by which will look amazing in the autumn when the trees turn and magical if it snows this winter!
Love the crisp mornings and early nights!

MintyCedric · 25/07/2020 18:30

Another autumn fan here, it's my favourite season, even though work wise it's hell on wheels and will be even worse this year (secondary school Confused)

Love afternoons on the sofa with a good book & a hot drink. Nice scented candle going, fireplace video on YouTube as I don't have a real one anymore, excuse to have fairy lights on at all hours.

Lounge wear, fluffy blankets, window open so the bedroom's cool but the bed's toasty with electric blanket or wheat bag. Cats can sleep upstairs with me again (they're indoor cats but one will try and kamikaze out of the window if it's open and I cant sleep with it shut in this weather), mine and DDs birthdays a week apart Smile.

Even better my favourite book series is due the latest TV adaptation and a new book out in September...can't wait!

VanillaSpiceCandle · 26/07/2020 09:42

I love this thread. Only 36 days until 1 September - I think that’s a fair date to say autumn’s begun. Also Starbucks brings out pumpkin spice lattes - the only flavoured coffee I like.

ChippyTea16 · 29/07/2020 16:08

I too am a huge autumn fan! Love it when the weather gets a bit cooler and I can get my jumpers out. Planning lots of forest walks this year to make that feeling of getting home and making a hot drink even better. I too like to cosy up under my fleece blanket and read my kindle while listening to the rain outside. Makes me feel so cosy.

I’m going to look for some autumn scented candles too this year, I usually just have Christmas ones. I don’t know if yankee candle door or anymore but I absolutely love ‘fireside treats’ which is toasted marshmallow flavour (and the only yankee candle Flavour I like).

I’m so excited! I also love to buy new blanket scarves for autumn/winter. I definitely don’t mind going out in the cold and rain when I’m wrapped up and toasty.

Does anyone have any good book recommendations for books set in autumn? Just general easy to read fiction to get lost in?

Or films? For me it would be things like When Harry Met Sally, you’ve got mail, hocus pocus, Stepmom

I’m in such a good mood now Grin

xmummy2princesx · 29/07/2020 16:24

I luv hocus pocus!!

PurpleCalm · 29/07/2020 16:42
