Mum is getting a fluffy robe and iRobot vacuum and some more Christmas decorations for around the house.
MiL is getting a a fluffy robe (it was such a deal I bought 2), planner for next year, pretty stemless wine glasses.

Pippapotomus · 19/12/2019 19:02

Around a decade ago DD1 smashed mils much loved vase. No other vase compares to its predecessor. Whenever there's an occasion she gets flowers this vase is mentioned.

I've only found a near identical one!

I need to find a nice bunch of flowers for her to put in it.

DD is being told to stay away from it.

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 19/12/2019 19:02

Chanel perfume
Radley purse
Tickets to go and watch Pretty Woman

goose1964 · 19/12/2019 19:58

A Silk crepe scarf from Patras, it's a blue ombre, very pretty

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 19/12/2019 20:04

Wow I cant believe some of the budgets you have for these presents Blush

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 19/12/2019 20:17

I did a robin cross stitch for my mum. We don't get MiL anything as we don't join in the family secret Santa anymore! They do get a photo calendar of the DC though.

mnahmnah · 19/12/2019 20:20

Amazon Echo dot
Fancy hand creams
Bamboo kitchen utensil set
Slippers

Igottastartthinkingbee · 19/12/2019 20:26

Shimmery top and photo of the kids for MIL. Polo neck jumper and photo of the kids for my mum.

Seethesleepybunnies · 19/12/2019 21:27

Just a candle. I’m completely broke but she insists on getting presents 🤷‍♀️

I’ll get her and DF a photo in a frame of DD and some food gifts to share though. Im not getting the food until Boxing Day so I’m hoping to get it cheaper...

I don’t pick presents for DHs family but again but we’ll probably get MIL some nice toiletries or candles. DH tends to get her the same thing each year.

Stompythedinosaur · 19/12/2019 21:31

Dm is getting a photo calendar, a box of posh chocs and a bowl the dc have planted crocus bulbs in.

Dmil is getting a cross stitch kit, a book and a crocus bowl.

We are more of a token gift family.

butterry · 19/12/2019 21:38

Don’t do presents on my side of family.
MIL has a fancy water bottle, Liz Earle skincare, fragrance oil lamp, RHS subscription and Roccoco chocolates

Pippapotomus · 19/12/2019 21:39

@StanleyWalkersThirdWife I'm shocked too. Both sets of parents here would be horrified at having so much spent on them. thank fuck

UsernameTaken76 · 19/12/2019 22:53

Mother in law has a new Emma Bridgewater mug with garden birds on.

CountFosco · 19/12/2019 23:05

Mum is getting cashmere gloves, set of nice guest soaps and a school photo of the DC. MIL also getting the nice soap, a calendar of photos of the DC and possibly something else. But DH will only get round to it when he next sees her which will be a while after Christmas (she's abroad).

CherryPavlova · 19/12/2019 23:12

Nothing for my mother. Sadly, she’s at a point where she’s neither needing or wanting anything we can give her. She just needs her pulse to stop. Hopefully Christmas will bring her a peaceful release.

Mother in law will get her usual holiday plus a new umbrella, some gardening gloves, a fur hat she covets, theatre vouchers plus a season ticket to the Rec in Bath.

HostessAtCrimbo · 19/12/2019 23:21

@cherrypavlova I am sorry to hear about your mum Flowers

My mum is getting molton brown handwash
Swarovsky bracelet
Picture of dd in dance show
Michael Kors purse

MIL
So far just a fitness tracker...

CherryPavlova · 19/12/2019 23:35

HostessAtCrimbo Thank you.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/12/2019 23:41

Sorry to hear that Cherry. Best wishes for a peaceful season for you both.

My folks are getting theatre tickets together. If Dad can’t make it at the last minute (not infrequent Hmm) I will swoop in and accompany mother. Not that I’m hoping for that, oh no Grin

In laws are getting something music related DH sorted out that escapes me at the minute. And SIL and I are bringing MIL to a show and having our nails done next week. She’s so lovely and we don’t see her enough.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2019 23:43

Small terrarium
Felt sewing kit
Chocolates

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 20/12/2019 00:06

@Pippapotomus yes same my mum and dad always say not to get them anything so it's usually just a bottle of whiskey for my dad (£20, not an expensive one) and then something that costs about the same for my mum. Some of the above presents must cost way over £100

PinkJam · 20/12/2019 11:03

@CherryPavlova So sorry to hear that. Best wishes Flowers

PinkJam · 20/12/2019 11:04

@SurpriseSparDay Would you be able to say what is disappointing about the Angela Kelly book? I was planning to pick that up this weekend for DGM.

SurpriseSparDay · 20/12/2019 11:28

Well ... Given that even octogenarians have iPads and 24 hr news (+ strong memories from the early years of the Queen’s reign) I was anticipating lots of wonderful new photographs showing things one doesn’t see on TV every day. Unfortunately that’s not what you get. The photos are rather dull (on dull paper too). And, what’s worse, (did I mention octogenarian recipient) the print is tiny.

It’s my own fault for clicking without having seen it. And there’s no way I’m braving a PO in the next few days to send it back. And I can’t think of anyone else to give it to!

Appreciateyourthoughts · 20/12/2019 14:49

Wow!! Some of your mothers are so spoilt!!! Hundreds of £££££'s .... Although if I could afford it I'd do the same for my Mother...

So I've now got her:

Amazon Dot
School photo of DGC
Photo Calendar of DGC
Jigsaw Puzzle 🧩
Gift Voucher for Boots (she uses No.7 Range)
& Hairdressers vouchers

I think that should do. She's been amazing during some pretty tough times for me this year so I wanted to make an extra effort.
Thank you for the ideas Thanks

My mum is getting thick socks for dog walks, a lavender microwavable hot cushion thingy and a pedicure. Also a tin opener that she asked for!

I don't know what DH is getting his mum but it's usually vouchers for a beauty salon where she like to have massage done, so that would be my guess. I have got her a pack of Curly Whirlies as ahe otherwise envies the one in the selection box she gets for DH! That's become a tradition now.
