I have vouchers, kids photos and I'm completely stuck with what else to get my DM ....

OP posts:
SurpriseSparDay · 19/12/2019 11:16

Very expensive perfume.

Slightly expensive alcohol.

The new book on dressing the Queen. Bit of a risk as parent is no royalist - but they share a taste in handbags so I’m optimistic.

CheesePleaseLoueese · 19/12/2019 11:31

A voucher for high tea at a nice London hotel. Luckily my mother and mother in law get on well together! :)

ChestnutSmoothie · 19/12/2019 11:46

Liberty scarf.

elsielegallez · 19/12/2019 11:57

We’ve got tickets for the RSC for MIL and FIL

MysweetAudrina · 19/12/2019 11:59

Mil
6 bottles of wine
Nice biscuits
mince pies
flowers
hand cream

Mother
Perfume
and something else that I haven't gotten yet

elsielegallez · 19/12/2019 11:59

For my mum, I’ve got a Neom candle, a Christmas jigsaw, and some other bits and bobs

Apolloanddaphne · 19/12/2019 12:05

A pair of pyjamas as that is what she asked for. Also a fleece polo neck from Uniqlo, a small Jo Malone candle, a fold up shopping bag, a pair of Christmas socks and a small bottle of gin cocktail. The last things will all go in her stocking.

Natsku · 19/12/2019 12:08

I got my mum (well my parents) a photo book and my toddler made a painting for MIL (getting presents for his family is my OH's responsibility, not mine, but I thought I'd do this anyway as it was fun for DS to do)

Travelmumone · 19/12/2019 12:09

My mother I got her a coat and a little stocking of treats. MIL...I have no idea as that is Dh’s job!!

RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/12/2019 12:09

I got DM a pair of Christian La Croix shoes, which she will love, and which I found, unworn, in a charity shop. Also theatre tickets.

Don't know what DH got his mum, that's his job to sort out!

PurBal · 19/12/2019 12:17

DH and I buy for our own parents but we don't set a budget. Really annoyed me since he didn't tell me what he'd planned to buy until it arrived. So...

My mum is getting some picnic glasses (long story / in joke).

His mum is getting an iPad and some sundries (candle etc). eyeroll

I cocked up my mum's present. She has been on holiday to Orkney a few times, and loves a deli there, called Jolly's - they deliver, so I went online and ordered a selection of their biscuits, cheeses and pate, to be delivered after the 20th of December - or so I thought.

I am sure I ticked the box on the website to say 'Dispatch on 19/12', but for some reason, that wasn't on the final order - I don't know if I messed up or the website did, but I didn't check the order well enough before finalising it, so it is my fault.

I was being super organised, and placed the order in mid-November - and it was delivered only three days later!! So my mum had a lovely, early Christmas present, but most of it will be gone by Christmas Day.

I wanted her to have something to open from us, so I have sent her a book as well - she is interested in the history of Orkney and Shetland, so I found a book on that - I just hope she hasn't already got it - otherwise I will have cocked up her present twice in one year!

reluctantbrit · 19/12/2019 12:43

MIL and PIL got a joint present they asked for - very real looking silk flower arrangement.

Mum - two books, playing cards, she loves solitaire, and a perfume I still need to buy as I only have handluggage when we fly to her.

All of them don't want anything big and are in a position to buy what they need and want when they need/want it.

SurpriseSparDay · 19/12/2019 13:55

Hmph, the Angela Kelly book has arrived - and is more than a little disappointing. Think it might annoy my intended recipient!

I’ll join you in Cock-Up Corner SDTG.

runwithme · 19/12/2019 14:07

For DM, a poncho from 100 stars, and a salt lamp. Want to get her something else but not sure what.

No idea what DH is getting MIL.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 19/12/2019 14:09

Mum is getting a kindle paperwhite and cover (joint gift from us and my dad)
MiL is getting a Tatty Devine "courage" necklace and something else that DH will find over the weekend.

shuuush · 19/12/2019 14:15

Alexa show
An old fashioned mixing bowl
Gin

shuuush · 19/12/2019 14:16

Oh I'm doing her a stocking too but so far I only have a coin from the year she was born.
But will be only putting stuff like fluffy socks and hand cream in.

Lyricallie · 19/12/2019 14:20

For my mum I've got her a ted baker bag and I'll pick up something else from the shops when I'm there next week. Maybe some loccotain moisturiser I know she likes. MIL my fiance has sorted and I think he got her some sort of glass making kit thing (she asked for it).

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/12/2019 14:22

Le creuset cafetiere because hers is chipped and its what she asked for

Heartofglass12345 · 19/12/2019 14:24

My mum has a jumper, socks and after eights off me (as well as a home made doorstop I made in a sewing class which she told me to wrap up Grin)
My husband got his mum a couple of jigsaw puzzles i think, she loves doing them

stacysmom · 19/12/2019 14:58

My mum specified nothing fancy/expensive this year so she’s is getting the new Pam Ayers book (and a Christmas bouquet from Bloom & Wild on the 20th because she really deserves more!).
