How much have you spent on your 11-13 year old

I know, I know. Lots of people hate these posts and everyone does things their own way and guys differently all year. If you find it distasteful, you need not reply. But I've finished shopping for DC, added up how much I've spent and dd1's is quite a bit more than the others, due to things for older kids and teens generally costing a lot more (switch games, tech etc) I don't want her to be massively spoiled, so I'm considering keeping some things back for her birthday but that isn't until June. But if it's actually an average or less kind of figure I will stick with it.

£300 including stocking on 13 year old.

BlueEyedFloozy · 01/12/2019 16:24

Should add that this is more than double what I've spent on 6yo but they both have what they asked for so they won't know/care.

Justabadwife · 01/12/2019 19:19

Dd is 10, and honestly I've spent over £450 on her. It would have been £300, but I'm buying her new phone outright instead of getting in on contract.
She hasn't got loads though.
3 switch games
3 lego sets
4 Pandora charms
Phone

3littlemincemeatpies · 01/12/2019 19:25

We have 3 girls and are about £450 (possibly closer to £500 Confused) per child. I haven’t bought tat but they have been hugely spoiled as always!!

everythingisginandroses · 01/12/2019 20:01

£400 all in (DS, 11).

LustigLustig · 01/12/2019 20:06

I have spent roughly similar amounts on my 12 and 8 year olds this year.

Some years one gets more expensive presents than the other. I think it all evens up across the years in the end though.

Spied · 01/12/2019 20:16

DS 10 has had about £350 spent on him.
DD 8 about £260. Dd's present pile looks a lot more than ds's but his obviously more expensive and smaller in size.

JurassicShay · 01/12/2019 21:01

Dd 12 in January has had £380ish including stocking.
It's not a huge pile though, PS4 & sims4 game, pyjamas x2, onesie, 2 pop figures, money box, Gucci compact, hot water bottle, jeans & colour changing lightbulb.

JurassicShay · 01/12/2019 21:05

I should add that I don't spend the same amount on my DC. DS1 10 has about £280 & DS2 5 about £320. It changes every year depending on what they want & need. I used to try and keep it the same but it was just pointless spending.

Lovemusic33 · 01/12/2019 21:08

13 year old dd Around £200, possibly £250, most of that is clothes that she needs rather than wants, min gift was £100.

15 year old dd around the same maybe slightly less (£200) as she didn’t want a main gift, mainly clothes and a couple fun items.

They get £100 spent on them from their dad too.

Tournesol · 01/12/2019 21:10

I am always so shocked by these threads! My 11yo will get a main present for about £50 plus a stocking of about £30.
But then he doesn't have a console either. There's no way we could afford hundreds of pounds on each child (we have 3) but they're always really happy and grateful for what they get.

avocadoze · 01/12/2019 21:13

I think we will spend £60 in total on the 12yo. Perhaps £80 if I get him a couple of extra books he might like.

Hoolajerry · 01/12/2019 21:15

I think I've probably spent about £250 each on my ds (14) and dd (12). The smaller two are probably less at about £200 each (9 and 7).

lorn195 · 01/12/2019 21:16

Soon to be 13 year old probably about £360, but £300 of that is on a mountain bike, which we have explained is a joint Christmas/birthday present (his birthday is in January). He's been told to expect a small present to open on his birthday.

SlayingDragons · 01/12/2019 21:26

DD12 - about £130 (I think!)

Her main gift is £70, then prob around £40ish on other gifts (like books, stationery and nice wee things), then I suspect the stocking and food gifts (selection box etc) prob came to around £20.

I buy over a long period of time - start with some small stocking fillers in the sales in Jan and then really start properly in the summer and generally have the main present done around October/November, so it’s hard to keep track of specific costs but we don’t go overboard and I buy almost everything on sale or at least some kind of reduction.

We have 4 DC (ranging from 9-14) and they all have about the same amount spent on them. We couldn’t afford to do loads more and actually wouldn’t want to - they have plenty.

They will get gifts from grandparents and aunts & uncles too, plus a few from some very close friends - they really don’t need anything more

Gorbie · 01/12/2019 21:31

My 13.5 year old chose some new clothes yesterday and it's about £80 that's all he's having
Little miss 4 about £70
Little miss 18mths about £50 and that's me done!

user1374384 · 01/12/2019 21:34

That's great, thanks everyone. Hers comes to about £370, I didn't write down the the prices of stocking items so I are estimated. I'm not bothered about matching like for like with siblings, there are no very close age gaps that mean they compare like that so it's not an issue. Value isn't on the younger two's radar yet.

She has musical tickets, a ukulele (she has lessons and borrows her dads atm) cheap Fimo set, band hoodie, Jelly Beans, Pringles, 2 Switch games, red Crocs she has requested for cosplay (but will be her summer shoes too), Vans in a size up and an Echo Show (she has a Dot she loves, but this will allow her to see her music lists and song lyrics and watch Amazon videos in her room as I don't allow her to have a laptop/tablet/phone, and the younger ones hog the downstairs TV). And the rest is books. Two novel box sets and two manga.

My justification is some of those things other parents will have just bought when needed not as a gift (tickets, hoodie, shoes, ukulele).

Oh, all of the smaller amounts appeared while I was typing, now I'm conflicted again Blush. In my defence, I really don't spend much on eldest throughout the year. She luckily gets loads of hand me down clothes, I only buy new books for birthday and Christmas, the rest of the time is school library, I never buy console games outside of birthday or Christmas either.

BakewellGin1 · 01/12/2019 21:45

I don't even want to add it up...

DS1 has had a small fortune because he has a scooter, football kit, trainers, tracksuit and football boots and I know those things alone amount to £450... he doesn't expect it and is grateful whatever he gets...

DS2 has had about £150/200 but he is only 9 months and this includes things like clothes, coat etc which he would need anyway..

Curious2468 · 01/12/2019 22:18

£250 on presents, shared family computer plus some board games. I Usually spend £300-350 but the desktop meant smaller budgets this year

LifeOfLimes · 01/12/2019 22:58

Spend £150 on 11 and 14 year old but start early and watch prices eagerly, wait for discount codes. I don't buy something till I can get money off and free delivery Blush.

One wanted a die cutter with craft supplies.
One wanted perfume and a bag.

Both also got some books, anime hoodie, Japanese snacks and small body shop set. Includes stockings with sweets, smellies, cactus drinking jars, figure/makeup bits.

Could spend more but would rather not, they will be very happy with their lot. I don't try and spend equal, it just worked out like that.

It's hard to compare as everyones family dynamics are different. Mine also receive gifts from 3 sets of grandparents and aunts/uncles, other children may not.

BellaBraithwaite · 02/12/2019 19:25

I spend lots and don't like adding it up. An elite controller, Velvetiser, garmin smart watch and some Japanese action figures alone came to £500. And he's got a fair bit more.

He's 13. I spend roughly same on his 21 year old sister. We can afford it and I like to push the boat out at Christmas.

IVEgotthetinselBITCHES · 02/12/2019 19:30

Currently about £250, still have a couple of bits to get. Will probably be between £300 and £330

He is nearly 12. 10 year old brother has had similar amount spent.

Slightly less on 6 year old. About £150 on 3 year old and about £100 on baby which is mainly clothes

BillHadersNewWife · 02/12/2019 20:47

I think about 250-300. A bit more on the 11 year old because she wanted a PC...it just worked out that 15 year old wanted less this year...she's getting money and some clothing and bits and bobs.

DragonMamma · 02/12/2019 20:51

Far too much. She’s far too easy to buy for at the moment.

She’s having an iPhone XR, a smart TV and endless other bits Angry
