How much have you spent on your 11-13 year old

I know, I know. Lots of people hate these posts and everyone does things their own way and guys differently all year. If you find it distasteful, you need not reply. But I've finished shopping for DC, added up how much I've spent and dd1's is quite a bit more than the others, due to things for older kids and teens generally costing a lot more (switch games, tech etc) I don't want her to be massively spoiled, so I'm considering keeping some things back for her birthday but that isn't until June. But if it's actually an average or less kind of figure I will stick with it.

Ds12 is my youngest. He's asked for trainers which I've bought £100 coat £90, a silver chain £40 and teddy fleece bedding £20. I've also got him a personalised tin of quality streets from John Lewis £15. So with a few stocking fillers it will be about £300. Dd 16 wants a Fitbit, bedding, perfume and the rest on clothes, shoes and makeup to the same value also with the quality streets. My older 2 are 19 and 23 and I spend less on them as they have jobs and don't live at home. My ds12 gets more now his older brothers don't get as much.

Betterversionofme · 02/12/2019 22:06

I didn't get anything yet but

  1. DD1 asked for VPN service and a particular out of print book, and probably wouldn't mind some improvements in her room
  2. DS2 might want earphones as headphones too big to take out
  3. DD3 asked for a theatre trip All of them would enjoy (and enjoyed in the past) theatre/ concerts. They are not into 'stuff'. Trip to Japan and Korea is what they would love. I want to go to Taiwan. Fat chance! Maybe if we stop eating for a year or two.
RoseMartha · 03/12/2019 00:21

About £55 each.

Carnabie · 03/12/2019 14:22

Around £130 each
Main gift, books, small gift from siblings, stocking, new pyjamas 😀

IlluminatiParty · 03/12/2019 14:29

Around 100 quid each on 12 and 10 year old. Echo dot each, other interest specific medium present each, new headphones each, some bits and bobs. They'll get other stuff off their dad too and family. I could spend more but can't justify it when we've other household expenses looming. They are at their dads Xmas morning and I breathed a sigh of relief at swerving having to do stocking stuff. Yes I am Scrooge Grin

thaegumathteth · 03/12/2019 14:49

About £400

Tickets for sporting event
Phone
2 PS4 games
Clothes
Football kit
Stocking

Episcomama · 03/12/2019 17:49

She’s having an iPhone XR, a smart TV and endless other bits How much is that costing you, @DragonMamma?

penberrh · 03/12/2019 19:29

Somewhere between 300 and 350. I budgeted 300 for it and saved over the year and although I’m able to absorb the extra £50 I still feel guilty for some reason. The pile looks tiny too.

oobedobe · 03/12/2019 22:45

As DD1 gets older I am finding her impossible to buy for. Took her to the mall for ideas, she saw nothing she really needed or wanted!

Her gifts might add up to $200-250 ish? That includes a Switch game, tamagotchi GO, Hershels wallet, lego set, hoodie, books, craft stuff, stocking stuff; pop heads, treats etc.

MurrayTheMonk · 05/12/2019 16:48

About £400 on each of my DD's -12 and 13.
And then another insane amount in dd1's Christmas birthday. It's Avery expensive time of year in the Monk household.

Weescot · 05/12/2019 17:08

£1200 ish. Tech is expensive and that’s what he likes. He gets nothing from family or throughout the year. We can afford it

DragonMamma · 10/12/2019 21:50

@Episcomama sorry! I’ve only just seen this tag.

The TV was £150 on sale in Curry’s. The phone is £35pm on contract (up from £31pm but 100gb of data instead of a terrible 1gb). The rest comes to £300 or so, maybe? I don’t really think of the phone because it’s something we pay every month already 🙈

DS is having less bug he had more last year and is younger so isn’t in to phones and the like. His next big present will be a new games console - probably when the PS5 comes out

mamaduckbone · 10/12/2019 22:22

Ds1 -14 has had more spent on him this year than ds2 - 10 but his pile will be much smaller.
Trying to resist the urge to twitch. He does know that his phone and a new PS4 game cost more than his brother's lego, trainers and other bits and bobs but it still won't look like much. I need to get him something cheap, cheerful and BIG. Thinking of a magnetic dart board...

Cherrysherbet · 10/12/2019 23:46

3 kids. £320 each including stockings.

BillHadersNewWife · 11/12/2019 03:09

Mama when I said this on another thread I was beaten up (metaphorically) for DARING to suggest that the children's gifts needed to look big. Grin I suggest getting him a poster and putting it in a frame...that's nice and big and frames can be bought cheaply. Another big thing is a beanbag...or maybe a fleece throw for his bed.

caperplips · 11/12/2019 10:33

A lot this year for 14 yr dd. She asked for Airpod Pros which are £249 ALONE. And are teeny tiny....
So adding some make-up, clothes and a stocking...I shudder to think!

sansou · 11/12/2019 20:33

£200 on my 12 yr old mostly on art supplies.
16 yr old wants cash (to save towards a new phone next year). There is no way that I am spending £700+ on a new phone for a teenager nor am I getting one on an expensive contract.
Are people seriously spending £30 + pcm on phone contracts for their DC?

Ohyesiam · 11/12/2019 20:39

I’ve spent about £150 including stocking on my 12 year old ds. Could afford quite a bit more, but don’t see the point.

AlwaysThereForEveryoneElse · 15/12/2019 00:53

My 13 ur old. His main was 400. Then prob another 250 under tree and 50 stocking.
It looks barely anything.
His birthday Jan. I've got 2 small. Items so far and that's 75.. The he wants a new TV so prob 200

I love treating him. And the others. Dsd has roughly the same in price her pile looks huge.
Dd has had about 200 in total her pile is gigantic.. Toys bulk it loads.

Juanbablo · 15/12/2019 09:57

I'm not sure, maybe £150 at most, probably more like £120. He's 12.
FIFA 20 from us
Book from dd
Jumanji game from ds2
Sack from "Santa" filled with things like socks, Lego, torch, body spray, chocolate, phone case.

We don't have a lot of money this year so there it is. I think he will be happy with everything.

Chipsahoy · 15/12/2019 12:58

Holy crap, some huge amounts here.

I've spent about 60 pounds on ds 11 and happy with that.

Purpletigers · 15/12/2019 16:06

10 year old is getting a switch with two games ( got the Very deal for £270)
A stretch Armstrong £8
Funko pop HO game £12
Bookset - £10ish
For his stocking he’ll have pants , socks , chocolate /sweets , fake EarPods and a Lego tree decoration.

Eldest is very difficult to buy for atm
She’s getting books/ manga , a couple of funko pop figures , sea of thieves for the x box , some T-shirts
Lego knight bus
And then a stocking with similar items to her brother . She has asked for Cards against humanity but she’s only 14 so that’s a no !
I’ve bought the Lego gingerbread house for us to build together on Christmas Day .

Purpletigers · 15/12/2019 16:10

They don’t get presents from anyone else but do get money from both sets of grandparents . We only buy our parents , my sister and my best friend ,my job share partner and a family relative with special needs who comes to us for Christmas dinner every year .
I buy generous presents for all my nieces and nephews for birthdays instead .

Babyg1995 · 15/12/2019 16:12

Around 600 in things he wants then £200 on clothes which we don't really count as presents as it's stuff he needs there much more interest in the stuff they want like tech and games .

louisethedisease · 15/12/2019 21:54

Around £300 I think for dd10
