Absolutely no ideas - DS 19...

I have DSs 18 and 19. DS18, gave me a couple of ideas and I've also been able to pick him up some stuff he needs/would like/some surprises.

DS19 - not a clue :( He doesn't know, he has no opinions on anything, he is quite down mentally and the inability to make decisions etc is part of it. He doesn't go out apart from to uni, is very clever, likes tech stuff but really has everything that he needs/wants. Money is no use really as he has plenty and doesn't spend it. Despite everything, he would be a bit upset to not have things to open at christmas. Not interested in clothes or sports, doesn't play an instrument, really has no hobbies. He goes to the gym as part of an effort to help with his MH but has t'shirts/shorts/trainers and to be fair, he doesn't really enjoy it, just accepts that he needs to go.

I can get him some sweets/chocolate and some beers but otherwise not a clue. No specific budget (usually spend about £500 in total but open to anything really).

Help! Please!!

Tech things are always good. A fitbit or smart watch if you have that sort of budget, or if not wireless headset etc. Young guys also love that feeling of independence so an experience day card or something like that would go down a treat.

Get him some stuff for uni.

How about a mini fridge if he is in halls. Or an electric wok if he wants to cook his own meals
A new 40 litre back pack for carrying notes to and from uni
A bike to get around town on
Warm hat and gloves (Superdry do lovely men's winter hats)

I have 18 and 19 year old DS's too!
My 18 year old sounds very like your eldest.
Very techy.
Studying computer science.
Built his own gaming computer.
We are getting him a switch as he and his mates are suddenly really into pokemon again.Grin
Otherwise board games like "Risk" and "Go" and "Isle of Skye" seem to go down well here.
Is he interested in dungeons and dragons or Magic the gathering at all?
Rick and Morty PJs?
Gaming chair.
Comfy slippers.
Present indicative is a good online shop for techy stuff.

Thanks all, he has a fitbit and smart watch and doesn't really use them. There doesn't tend to be much choice in experience day type stuff where we live, it tends to mean quite a journey or an overnight and because he was in the Scouts until he was 18, he has done quite a lot of adventure type stuff.

He is at Uni but living at home and travelling, got a decent backpack for starting and has an unused bike in the garage. I got him a lovely jacket last year which he wears and he does keep a hat and gloves in the pocket but he never wears them, he doesn't seem to feel the cold. It was minus 5.5c today and he was still going about in shorts and t'shirt!

Doesn't do dungeons and dragons stuff, did used to play other board games but DH and I don't get much beyond scrabble and he doesn't see friends at all. Got slippers and dressing gown year before last but still pads about in his bare feet and in his shorts and t-shirt. he did used to be into Pokemon so that might be a good game to get.

He doesn't really engage with popular culture anymore so I don't think he'll know who rick and morty are.

Still trying to decide between switch and switch lite, what are you going for Serin? I'll have a look at that website, thank you.

Again, I hope you don't take my rejection of any ideas as negative, they are all great ideas and I'm sure others in the same predicament will be inspired, just not suitable for us this time. Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Apple Pencil

A glue gun with loads of different coloured glues

The proper Switch, not the lite. Look at the Zelda, breath of the wild game as apparently very absorbing

A Christmas coin from the Royal Mint or one of their mini gold bars

Subscription to Loot Crate

Tony's Chocolonely bars as they're nice, chunky and look cool

Black Mirror book

Elite controller

Those would be my suggestions

@WaxOnFeckOff I would get the original switch. You can play on a TV, handheld or with the controllers detached from the screen but the lite is only for handheld. It's nice to have options! I haven't played the new pokemon games, but I have let's go eevee and really like it. Do you know what games he plays in DS? Theres probably new versions of some of them.
