Present for 9 year old girl that is not an LOL doll

DD’s Christmas list is entirely LOL dominated, other than books. I have bought a couple of single ones for her, as she only has two, but I resent those and refuse to spend bigger money on anything LOL related! I think it’s appalling tat and dreadful for the environment.

So Grinch moment aside, what can I get her instead? Looking to spend £50-100 on a single item as a big present. She already has some books, clothes and other bits and pieces. Her siblings are younger and each have a ‘main toy’.

Also, if that pile of stuff is less than her sisters, then I simply boggle!

Sorry. That sounds far ruder than I would want to be. We’re all different and I really hate all the threads encouraging us to compare ourselves on presents etc. I do rather want to know what her sisters are getting though!

@Doubleraspberry

I guess it comes down to the child, my girls play with their LOL’s Everyday and they also look after them really well so I’m very happy to buy for them, if they didn’t do either of those things then I probably would be less inclined to splash out.

And yes they get a lot at Christmas but other than hobbies/activities/ponies nothing throughout the year so I enjoy spoiling them. Smile

Have you thought about an OG set, we have the stables and few of the other sets, they are very well made and and definitely have the wow factor.

Bits an accessories are bigger too so less likely to lose. X

What about outdoor or active stuff? Roller blades, bike accessories, slack line, basketball hoop etc?

Swingball, badminton set, kite

Sledge, ski stuff if you ski, binoculars.

Sleeping bag.

Board game?

Small pet - goldfish, hamster?

I don't think you really need to have a 'main' gift though - the 'main' one in the child's head is the one they really love. Can be a small one! (Just my view - I appreciate you want to make it fair with the siblings.)

Yeah, I know what you mean, and you’re probably right. It’s hard to find something that’s a one off in the ‘right’ price range.

Can’t do any pets as we have a ferocious hunter in our cat, so wouldn’t expose anything to certain death!

Equipment is worth considering. She needs football boots actually, and her grandparents have bought her a football shirt.

I’ve never heard of the OG stuff and it’s interesting but a bit young for her. Worth knowing about for the others though, thank you.

We got my DD10 a Nintendo DS for her birthday, it surpassed her wish of a Switch which we couldn't justify the price of for something which would probably be rarely played with.

Doubleraspberry · 28/11/2019 23:39

Thanks, everyone. We’ve settled on an Echo Dot and wireless headphones (because she shares a room with her sister and there are endless disagreements over what they listen to) and Harry Potter World tickets - hopefully with a friend whose mother I know is reading this thread. Wink

My DD wants Lol too. I've got her two dolls, but I refuse to spend a fortune on something that is only played with for a few minutes, and IMO bad for the environment. Glad I'm not alone.

Dolls house that she could play with the lol dolls & maybe a secondhand bundle of dolls?

Or...

Cd player & audio books
Scooter
Hobbie stuff like swim kit/dance wear/ football boots
Musical stuff - guitar/keyboard/recorder
Board game
3d puzzle
Gravitrax Marble Run
Lego
Money box
