She doesn't wear makeup or jewellery.
Doesn't have many hobbies really. Likes Marie Kondo, hygge- being cosy and stress relieving (but she has loads of fluffy socks, nice blankets, pjs)
She doesn't have baths.
Doesn't want a kindle as prefers reading physical books but she borrows them from the library.
Is a vegetarian. Doesn't like cookbooks though- she finds recipes online that she would like and has made a collation of them as in cookbooks you don't like every single recipe.
Not into photo stuff.
Has a boyfriend, they live in their own flat together but they have everything they need for the flat.
Doesn't light candles as her boyfriend is scared about the fire risk and she worries about the toxins.
Likes anything that improves her life.
Any ideas please? Budget- anything from cheap to expensive I don't mind.

Theatre tickets?

Graduateaccountant · 23/11/2019 10:34

Clothes wise she struggles as she is petite size 10 but with a very large stomach (I think she stores fat there due to stress). So it's hard to find clothes that fit.

She sounds very similar to my sister in law. Last Christmas I bought her this book and some nice pens to write in it with, I put it all in a gift bag with some truffles and a bath bomb. I’ve also bought the book for 2 friends and my mum, they all absolutely love it. Could be a nice idea?

Mindfulness app? Or book?
A plant?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 23/11/2019 10:39

what about an oil burner like this, with some organic oils like this (which shouldn't contain any toxins)

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2019 10:39

Weekend away/holiday vouchers , theatre tickets . Lush do vegan perfume that are nice .

TanteRose · 23/11/2019 10:40

I'm thinking of this for my DD (also 22)

food flask

lljkk · 23/11/2019 10:44

M&S voucher for their nice food.
Or just nice food, for that matter.
She sounds nervous & uptight tbh.

Evalina · 23/11/2019 10:46

Spa voucher?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/11/2019 10:49

Does she drive? If so nice driving gloves, winter car pack, year of breakdown recovery (Greenflag do a comprehensive package for approx £60).

If she cycles, new helmet, hi viz outfit.

Is there a particular brand of trainers/shoes she likes?

Annual National trust subscription?

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2019 10:56

Dd is nearly 22 I am getting her car tatt she has just got a new car

TryTry123 · 23/11/2019 11:09

Why not ask her? As then she will have presents she really wants.

Graduateaccountant · 23/11/2019 11:13

She doesn't drive or cycle.

Why does she sound nervous and uptight?

She sounds lovely @Graduateaccountant I think she would like the soap making kit heads up it's £20 on amazon and £25 ethical superstore rather than £30 urban outfitters

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/11/2019 11:16

I’d ask her for ideas as it sounds like it would be fairly easy to get the ‘wrong’ thing.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/11/2019 11:20

Out of interest because I’m nosey is this a friend/ relative you’re looking to buy for, or you looking for suggestions for yourself to give others ideas?

Graduateaccountant · 23/11/2019 11:29

So far the best ideas for her:
Theatre tickets
Soap making kit is a nice idea but she would just buy soap from tk Maxx.
Trainers
Nice food
Food flask is another nice idea but she has a sistema soup mug
Oil burner

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/11/2019 11:33

A soup maker - there are some really good ones around at not silly prices (if she hasn't already got one). As she has a soup mug she must like it 😊

lljkk · 23/11/2019 14:07

Why does she sound nervous & uptight

As MN keeps reminding me, people who call themselves vegetarian are highly principled and believe themselves to have a moral high ground in their food choice, therefore she is likely to be anxious about that.

Marie Kondo -- minimalist, idealist, more signs of being bothered about doing the right thing.

her boyfriend is scared about the fire risk and she worries about the toxins. Two anxious people living together. Like attracts like.

Generally an anti-materialistic description: again, idealist.

large stomach (I think she stores fat there due to stress).
So you're telling us she's feeling a lot of stress.

Likes anything that improves her life. Again, anxious & earnest. That kind of self pressure in many realms of life makes a person uptight.

So I'm going to suggest something like 2 tickets to see live comedy performers. Have a good laugh.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/11/2019 15:05

Chilly coffee cup or bottle?
Have just bought for my two similar aged DS's

UOkhun77 · 23/11/2019 16:39

Maybe a wellness/gratitude journal or a water bottle with filter? Kikki K seems like it might do stuff for hard to buy for millennials.
Otherwise some small boxes for organising drawers.

Graduateaccountant · 23/11/2019 17:35

Keep the ideas coming please. Some of the suggestions are great but still looking for something to hit the spot..
She won't be into journals, writing gratitude lists or things like that

OP posts:
PhantomErik · 23/11/2019 18:23

Hot water bottle
Board game
Comedy dvd
Flower subscription

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/11/2019 19:22

Agree that she sounds nervous, uptight and quite hard work tbh!

Cashmere scarf/wrist warmers
House plant in a nice pot - peace lilies are nice
Book token
Voucher for a local yoga studio
This Works sleep spray
