Has anyone recently bought an artificial pre lit tree? I’m struggling?

First year buying last year and got one off amazon. 5 foot artificial pre lot. It had a lot of gaps and I wasn’t that over joyed with it. This year I’ve been round some shops that display them (not many!) and they still all have quite big gaps and don’t look nice and full and bushy. Am I asking too much? I’m thinking of maybe going for a 6 foot one? I saw one on Homebase that looked good, went to store but I didn’t like it. I’ve now seen one on Robert dyas on offer, but have no stores near by and worry if it got it, it would be no better than the one in the loft. I don’t want a real one, would like to buy one and keep it for each year. Does a decent pre lit on for under £100 exist or do I give up? X

Here's the bottom.

Probably 15-18 inches off the floor.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but ASDA have a gorgeous tree for £50 pre lit 6ft! I took the one I bought in next for £220 back and got this one instead! Really lovely it’s frosted too.

Thanks for the recommendations but I don’t want a frosted one, they’re nice but I just want a plain pre lit one. Thanks noword I may just go with 5 foot...

I will get a new one post Christmas!

Wonderingwhyme · 01/12/2019 16:48

Oh god looking at werChristmas on amazon to se if I can get slightly cheaper and there’s always 1 or 2 people saying it’s too sparse and gappy!! Who do I believe? Last year mine was very happy which is the whole point of my thread to ensure I didn’t have that this year... last year I spent ages fluffing it but it still wasn’t amazing... do I just bite the bulllet?

Real trees aren't all bushy, it depends on the type you get. I'm happy with ours as I think it's natural enough.

That’s the grand Alaskan wasn’t it noword? I currently have that one, Craford pine and pine natural bark in my cart!

Yes, Grand Alaskan. Mine could be more bushy if I spent longer on it. I don't have the patience though. You'll probably find the 'sparse' reviewers haven't fluffed enough!

I would be a little wary of the Grand Alaskan. To compare like with like I looked at the tip count of its 8ft version versus ours. It had nearly 1000 fewer, or 3/4 of the total.
If the 5ft one has a proportional tip count, it might well contribute to 'gappiness'.

A Puelo one which is an old American brand that I got from my local garden centre but there are loads of independent garden centres that sell them on eBay. Cheaper and make my Balsam Hill one in the dining room look a bit poxy.

Those Puelo trees look well worth considering. However, our sittingroom one is up, complete with tatty ancient bits and bobs and oversized ceramic bauble made by the grandkids. Dining room one nearly finished. All needs to be ready for early family Christmas next weekend, before DS1 and family leave for Brazil.

We got the Grand Alaskan seven footer. It did take quite a lot of fluffing but it's nice and bushy now! And tbh we could have fluffed better and spent longer on it but I was too impatient to get it decorated. It's a really nice shape.
