Basically what the the title says Grin I am super organised this year which is a first I'm usually the last minute shopper but all the presents are bought they just need wrapping I am however going to wait till December to wrap as it will feel more festive [santa] we always get a real tree so usually wait a little longer in December before the tree goes up etc! But because I'm so organised this year I'm very excited to get the decorations up ! I was thinking of putting them up some point in the first week of December but is this too soon? When do you deck your halls? Grin

Historically, we’ve done Christmas Eve but after a discussion we’re changing it to everything apart from the Christmas tree will go up on the Saturday before and the tree on Christmas Eve.

egontoste · 13/11/2019 14:07

First Saturday in December unless we are busy doing something else, then it would be the second Saturday.

petrocellihouse · 13/11/2019 14:10

Christmas Eve and not a moment before! bah humbug....

FreezerBird · 13/11/2019 14:10

Christmas Eve, down on twelfth night.

Whatsitlike · 13/11/2019 14:17

Trees up starting the 7th, (because of a birthday the week before) then down on 12th night.

It takes a long time to dress all the trees and the house as I use a lot of items from the garden, I have no patience for anything else, except dressing the house for Christmas!

As it stands decs are going up on Thursday the 28th of November as we are certain DP has a day off BUT if DP isn't working on Sunday the 1st then they'll be going up either Saturday (30th) evening or sunday (1st) morning 😊

Fraggling · 13/11/2019 15:15

likeacrow · 13/11/2019 15:17

Tree is being delivered on 13th so will probably trim up on the 14th. Usually go for second weekend in December but it seemed a bit early this year (it also might distract me from my inevitable gloom at the election result :))

chocolatefudgecake17 · 13/11/2019 16:01

Moving into our forever home on Friday. Tree is going up on Sunday!! I cannot wait.

heymammy · 13/11/2019 16:16

Generally two Saturdays before Xmas so this year around the 14th. We do leave it up all the way 6 Jan though so that's long enough!

timeforawine · 13/11/2019 16:17

First weekend in December :-D

CountFosco · 13/11/2019 16:22

Saturday before Christmas for the tree. But we put up paperchains and paper snowflakes on the windows before that when they are made by the kids. And pomanders are made quite early as well. So it builds up slowly and then DH and I do the final bits and bobs on Christmas Eve. Then everything comes down first weekend in Jan. I don't like the build up but love the week between Christmas and Hogmanay.

BiteyShark · 13/11/2019 16:25

1st December or nearest weekend to that.

mariposa23 · 13/11/2019 16:33

I LOVE Christmas but I always wait until beginning of December to put the tree up, we usually do it on a Sunday with Christmas music, mince pies & do it as a family.
My kids r off school 6-9 December & I wanted to do it then but I don't think we can wait that long lol

ShootTheRunner · 13/11/2019 16:36

I think 14th this year, but might do it the week before. I thought DH was joking the other day when he said the neighbours have theirs up - he wasn't Shock I've heard of decs in November but never seen it in real life!!

everythingisginandroses · 13/11/2019 22:32

Mid-month, whatever day I'm getting the tree delivered. This year it's the 16th. Up until twelfth night.

Vinorosso74 · 13/11/2019 22:36

DD was asking if we could put the tree up as soon as bonfire night was over. I said no. We vary but tends be first weekend in December; never ever before 1at Dec.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 13/11/2019 22:41

My tree is up now Grin normally we’re the very end of November/1st December because DH is a grinch we like to put the tree up whilst the DC are at school. But this year I’m recovering from major surgery and because I absolutely love Christmas DH put the tree up one night when I was sleeping to cheer me up Grin

73kittycat73 · 13/11/2019 22:56

They've been up about a week already. Xmas Grin

DramaAlpaca · 13/11/2019 22:59

The weekend before Christmas & not a minute before. If DH had his way it'd be Christmas Eve. They come down on 12th Night.

Fcukthisshit · 14/11/2019 08:15

I’m putting ours up on 23rd November. They usually go up the first weekend in December but we’re on holiday then and I want them up for when we come back Grin

TrickyD · 14/11/2019 09:44

DS1, his DP and their 2 and a half year old are off to Brazil to stay with DP's family, leaving on 14 December.
They are coming to stay here on the weekend of 7th December, so we will be fully decked by then. Trees, lights, the lot, plus turkey (with vegan options) Other DS plus his kids and big DGS's partner.
We now have artificial trees so early start is not a problem.
