What goes in your Xmas Eve box?

Found a lovely big box while out shopping today, wondering what others put in theirs for Advent or Xmas Eve?

If for 1st Dec I'm thinking I can put things in that are used all month so maybe better value... also DD turns 6 a couple days after 25th so Xmas things go away and Birthday things come out quickly.

Ideas list under consideration so far:

Xmas PJs
Chocolate coins
Advent Calendar - wrapped up as a present
Oranges/satsumas
Xmas teddy bear - DD adores anything soft and furry
Furry xmas blanket
Xmas themed hot water bottle
Hot chocolate packet or set
Xmas jumper - school will have a jumper day before the end of term
Xmas hair slides or similar
Xmas bubble bath or bath bomb if I can find one
Small size Xmas mug/cup - can find one in a £1 shop
Xmas craft bits - DD loves making stuff

There are bits I can put in that are not new but from storage:

Xmas pudding bobble hat
Xmas Books
Xmas baking cutters

That's obviously too much, but anyone do anything more original?

Whilst I don’t believe in giving lots of presents on Christmas Eve, and I’m sure it wasn’t a thing when mine were little 10+ years ago, however I don’t think there is any harm in getting some little extras that will make Christmas Eve all the more exciting. I’m going to get them some pj’s and a chocolate stick that for making hot chocolate. I wouldn’t get any more as I don’t want to take away from how special Christmas Day is.

@ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere that’s because people who do the boxes are full of Christmas joy and the ones that don’t are Scrooge McGrinches 😁

It doesn't all have to be plastic tat ruining the planet that's thrown away!! My hoard comes out on Dec 1st and is the same stuff every year, bedding, pyjamas in a good size up so lasts 2 years Dec 1st to 27th then put away and depending on ages donated or used next year for the month. Books given on 1st and read a lot until put away aren't wasted- they're new again next year if not left out. Cups, plates, are only bought once and put away for next year.

I hadn't even thought of an advent box!

Christmas Eve box has mug, hot chocolate, PJs, chocolate coins and a book.

On the 1st of Dec, I am going to do a box with:

  • Advent calendars (playmobil, the horror)
  • Xmas jumpers (some reused from last year)
  • A Christmas Wii game that I saw on eBay (2nd hand)
  • Maybe an Xmas activity or story book
  • A couple of new tree decorations (I might save those until the day we put the tree up though)

I did think about adding Xmas craft stuff, but I'll get that out through the month.

On Xmas eve, I will fill it with new Pjs, a DVD to watch, fav snacks and a bath bomb.

These things are just to amuse myself really. We wear our Xmas pjs year round, and also read Xmas story books all year, oddly. Last year DS was insisting on wearing his Xmas jumper in Feb still. I don't think any of it will be wasted.

Hmm dont agree that making a box means you're Santa's doppelganger shitting glitter either. Not making a box doesnt make anybody a Scrooge, do you know what efforts anybody goes to on Christmas day or over the whole festive season? Everybody has their own tradition, its is a pity there's so many 'my way or the highway' opinionated grumps on this thread.

@Cornflakes that was a joke! Smile

My mum always got us all a new pair of pj's and a board game for Christmas eve, so I've continued that with my DD.

I include new pj's, new board game and then things we need for our Christmas eve traditions. So, santa plate for the mince pie, santa stop here sign, Christmas movie dvd (from existing selection or charity shop), Christmas book (again from existing collection), popcorn, hot chocolate, chocs, santa hats or deeleyboppers, stockings for the fireplace, bath bomb and Christmas duck (same one each year). Then we have a gaming, mini disco, bath and movie night. It costs maybe £20 total and she really looks forward to it.

The pj's and board game are used year round. The books, dvds, duck, stockings and hats are all reused each Christmas. DD is a creature of habit so wants the same stories anyway.

She also has a beloved bear she's had since a newborn, who has had a few accidents over the years and been sent off to the elves and reappeared with the Christmas eve box looking brand new again Blush
