Considering taking the DCs aged 11 and 13 to see this at Wembley just before christmas.

Is it any good?

I saw it. It was kind of terrible! It was incredibly cheesy but didn't work it in a cool kind of way. My experience may have been marred somewhat by the small child in front of me purchasing a swirly light up wand thing that she waved in front of my face for the whole of the second half. Expect a lot of this - it's all about the merch.

Oh dear that doesn't sound great.

Think I've missed the boat re the London shows. None of them have the date we want!

Think my 13 yo would find the panto too "babyish" !!

We saw it last Christmas and it was very disappointing. Our local pantomime was much better

TerribleCustomerCervix · 18/10/2019 11:57

I saw it in Dublin a few years ago.

I don’t enjoy musical theatre anyway, so take my review with a pinch of salt. It was v cheesy, the songs weren’t very good and it just didn’t have the charm of the film.

BaconAndAvocado · 18/10/2019 12:42

That's a definite No from MN then!

Conkerer · 18/10/2019 12:49

It's another No from me, I'm afraid. I had very high hopes as we love the movie, but I was disappointed.

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 18/10/2019 13:18

Love Elf and love musical theatre. Hated it though. As the others said it was very cheesy and just missed the mark.

Nabel · 18/10/2019 13:27

I saw it in London and it was disappointing. I love the film so maybe it was unfair to expect the theatre production to compete, but it wasn’t great, the songs were different and not as good, and I wouldn’t go again.

Gizlotsmum · 18/10/2019 13:30

I've seen it on the telly and really didn't like it. I love the movie... It just missed everything that made the movie so good and buddy was just creepy

I saw it in Manchester last year and absolutely loved it! There were 9 of us at various ages and everyone had a great time, but we do all love Christmas and musical theatre anyway.

Alakazam8 · 19/10/2019 10:08

Going this year- wish I’d gone for something else now though!

JustCheesz · 19/10/2019 19:50

Saw it a couple of years ago. Had a choice between Peter Pan Goes Wrong or Elf.

Gutted we picked Elf. It really was just meh. Wouldn't recommend.

Luckily PPGW was on the following year and was very well done. Enjoyed every second.

Pinkflipflop85 · 19/10/2019 19:58

I am musical theatre obsessed. I also love elf.

Hated the musical.

howu2 · 19/10/2019 20:09

I saw it the songs weren't the same and yes all the light up things distracted me no end

quitecontrary123 · 20/10/2019 18:25

I'm sure I saw a televised performance or perhaps just some clips of the show last year and it looked awful.

TheLakelandCatalogueIsMyPorn · 20/10/2019 18:47

We are ridiculously big Elf fans along with another couple of families with a mixture of 5 to 55 year olds. We've had "Elf Day" every year since the 12 year old in our group was born. Can you imagine how excited we were when Elf was coming to the stage??!!!!

Biggest pile of crap any of us had ever seen.

In fact it's a travesty and should be banned Grin

Smiling's my favourite ..... and none of us did!!!!!

Macmaccat · 20/10/2019 20:10

I saw it in New York a couple of years ago. I live musical theatre and I love elf the film. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. A bit like a cheesy panto.

Since then I’ve seen nativity the musical twice. That was amazing! I’m booking to go again this year,

Selfcarequeereyestyle · 21/10/2019 10:29

I haven’t seen Elf but loved the film. Another Christmas film I love it Natvity! And I saw the stage production of this last year and really enjoyed it.

Selfcarequeereyestyle · 21/10/2019 10:30

Sorry just saw someone else recommended Nativity too- that’ll teach me to read the thread!!

Alakazam8 · 22/10/2019 07:11

Don’t suppose there’s a chance that children still enjoy it? (really worried as I chose it as our main show from a wide choice). We haven’t seen elf so that might help...(hopeful)

Gizlotsmum · 22/10/2019 08:44

I think if you haven't seen elf it will probably be better. Am sure they will enjoy it.

EsmeeMerlin · 22/10/2019 08:50

Another one here, love musical theatre and the film is my favourite Christmas film.

Hated the show, it was cheesy, bad acting and the songs were not fantastic.

NerosFiddle · 22/10/2019 09:11

It was absolutely terrible. Don't think we even stayed till the end. It's a shame because the tickets were a small fortune.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/10/2019 09:27

I havent gone to see it but I did watch it when they broadcast the musical on TV live either last Christmas or the one before.

Really disappointed as we love the film but was so bored by the live musical
