Presents ideas for my team at work

I tend to buy a token Christmas present for each of my team members, there's 10 of them, including a vegan, vegetarian and non-drinker. Our organisation doesn't do Christmas bonuses, we have to pay for our own Christmas lunch and so as team leader I like to buy them a little token gift to say thanks for all their hard work.

In the past I have bought chocolates, small wine bottles, miniature gin bottles but now I have someone in my team who doesn't drink alcohol and vegan chocolates are quite pricey. I like to keep the presents similar so there's no comparisons, and between £5 and £10.
Any suggestions?

What about coffee shop vouchers? Like coffee no 1 etc?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 14:04

That’s a great idea! Keep an eye out for special offers on gift cards (Tesco does this sometimes) or do you have a Costco account?

cyclingwife · 28/09/2019 14:09

Ooh i like the idea of coffee shop vouchers from an independent cafe in the town where we work... although one doesn't drink tea, coffee or any hot drinks.
That's the trouble with trying to be similar, there's always one who it doesn't suit.
I used to just bring a big tub of chocolates but it excludes the vegan and the one who doesn't work from the same office.

We're quite an "environmental" organisation and have just seen some packs of wildseeds. I wonder if that would be any good? I think they all have their own gardens ...

Only if you have a garden - but I love those ‘grow your own’ herb pots.

Barbarara · 28/09/2019 14:33

Tough one. How about stationery? Or a Christmas bauble?

tentative3 · 28/09/2019 14:41

The one who doesn't drink hot drinks could have a cold drink or cake with her/his voucher.

I like the voucher idea best really; if you don't know their taste anything like a decoration is difficult. I have a garden (small) but nowhere to grown wildflowers in it.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 14:51

Also vote for the voucher! Or Christmas bauble. I'd love those!

cyclingwife · 28/09/2019 15:46

Christmas bauble may be difficult as at least 2 of them don't put up a tree. Gosh they are so different Grin

I'll have a look at the grow your own herb pots, thanks LordPro

A venus flytrap each

cyclingwife · 28/09/2019 16:32

tinysnickers I did see some lovely small succulents in different pots in Sainsburys that were tempting. I'd love one on my own desk Grin

My team adore a £10 M+S voucher.

BeanBag7 · 28/09/2019 16:34

"one doesn't drink tea, coffee or any hot drinks"

They can use the voucher to buy cold drinks, cake or lunch. I don't drink hot drinks either but would be happy with a coffee shop voucher because they sell other things too and I love cake Grin

NeedAnExpert · 28/09/2019 16:34

Idea being they can buy a meal deal/posh food or wine they might not normally get/chocs/homewear or new pants!

Mrsmadevans · 28/09/2019 16:37

A Mug , l bought 8 mugs from EB FOR £40 for exactly this reason. They were on clearance mind .

cyclingwife · 28/09/2019 17:07

Mrsmadevans yes mugs are a cool idea, as long as they're all different designs for sitting in the work kitchen cupboards.

Boobil yes M&S vouchers would definitely work thanks

Beanbag7 the one who doesn't drink hot drinks is also watching their weight so would decline the cake too

Have a look at Dr Botanicals there's a 50% off voucher (Autumn50) lots of vegan friendly things here
Nice soaps or hand cream
Xmas bargain thread might be worth following, that's where the code is from

FeltCarrot · 28/09/2019 17:18

A few (lots) of us on the Christmas bargains thread have bought items from Dr Botanicals, there was a code AUTUMN50 which gave 50% off and for a bizarre reason free soaps. Lots of things were vegan friendly too. Hand creams were around the £5 mark when discounted.

FeltCarrot · 28/09/2019 17:19

Oops! Why didn’t I read your post Reset 😳😳😳

RainOrSun · 28/09/2019 17:26

I dont drink tea or coffee, and would rather a Costa or similar voucher than soap or other scented stuff.

DHs work have done USB sticks, pens, wallets, gift cards, clocks, and an ornament. Most of the stuff we didn't like sold very well second hand.

cyclingwife · 28/09/2019 17:57

Thanks Reset and Feltcarrot, have done vegan shower gel last year but the soaps look good.

I think I need to follow the Christmas bargains thread!

RainorSun this is coming out of my own pocket so limiting it to less than £10. I'm public sector and so even if I'm a team leader I still earn less than the average newly qualified teacher.
Would hate to think recipients sold my stuff on which is why I want to be careful about what I buy for them.

One year I bought a very large group of people, Mr and Little Miss mugs off of eBay for around £8 each, got to choose which character would suit who and they even did personalised names they loved them and still use them

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 18:39

Mugs! Excellent idea - everyone uses them!
